I too would have loved a Creeper or Machine Man series by Roger back in the day. Two of my favorite neglected characters. Roger is one of those very few writers (along with Paul Levitz) whose participation in a title meant I was going to enjoy it. I think the key was that he knew the characters from the inside out, and cared that we readers would think of them as real people, however fanciful their reality might be. His Captain America run is still my favorite, as he very clearly defined that character for me in a way no one else has done as convincingly. With team books, he has a way of making any given group of characters interesting by digging into their inter-personal dynamics (a talent he shares with J.M. DeMatteis and Paul Levitz). His Avengers run was the high point of the entire series for me, especially the “Under Siege” arc. His work with the Superman Team in the 80s and 90s was a dream come true for a lifelong Superman fan, and also stands as a high point in Superman’s 85 year history. And then there’s his Spider-Man stuff! I can’t say enough good about Mr. Stern.

I just bought his Spider-Man Omnibus. Best Spiderman Omnibus out there. This man can write a simple but engaging and gratifying comic story.
