a good convo - the talk of the alienation from the self is a good reminder, as too often i just think of the alienation from society. we're all pushed to glom on to an identity early, but life is often about exploring and learning about our 'identity' throughout our life, how it can change, or possibly losing one's identity completely in the sense of a spiritual growth. we have a lot of learn as a culture still, and yes, to get past our base problems about a marxist alienation from materials, and get to the larger issues of alienation as humans/spiritual beings. this is the long-term project of humanity.
