Using Reference Manager to Control Xrefs in AutoCAD 2012

I encountered this issue at my job. A very old job that was archived in a different folder (L: drive, we use N: drive) and there must have been 10 xrefs missing and I had to plot the fresh set.

Interesting video. I ahve a question about two things. First. How can I change the master file for all the host files? Second, how can I set up my desktop to look like yours? I am on Win7 Pro 64.
