    This is a PERFECT example of what a how-to video should be. It shows me how to do something I need to do and fix something that has been irritating me. It doesn't preach at me that I shouldn't try to do it myself. It apparently assumes that I am an adult (imagine!) and am willing to take the risks inherent in doing it. And it doesn't have a huge four-minute introduction, it gets right to the point. Thank you so much!

      I Thumbs down because you didn't say whether or not to leave the lenses on when you do heat. What happens if the heat damages anti reflective anti glare scratch resistant transitions coating? Thanks for not answering that LOL

      @ERROL007 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@johnthemann6483 I have a pair with anti glare lenses that needed the frame adjusting. I was there with the optician heated the frame and made the adjustments the lenses where never removed.

      Winner of a video, I've been looking for "specsavers ultra clear superclean review" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Rayemiron Uncommunicative Release - (do a search on google ) ? It is a good exclusive guide for discovering how to improve your eyesight naturally minus the headache. Ive heard some decent things about it and my cousin got great success with it.

    Thank you, Troy! I've been heating and bending (inward) the far ends of the bows, and couldn't understand why the fix didn't stay put. And here you explained it, so now I know. You also explained the correct way to bring the bows inward. I'm going to do that right now. Thanks a lot!

    Today, this is the greatest TH-cam video of all time. I ordered some new glasses online on a year old prescription. And I completely forgot that the frames need adjusting around my ears. After stressing out for an hour regarding how to solve my problem, I thought, try TH-cam (You idiot)!! And wallah. Hair dryer does the trick??? Such a simple thing that I would have never thought about. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    thank you, Troy, for demonstrating these great tips! so easy to understand. i always have the problem of crooked glasses. the optical place adjusts them for me but i swear 3 hours later, they're crooked again. I'd probably have to live at the optical place to get them just right. i have brand new glasses so I want to adjust them correctly, myself, this time. i never knew about using the needlenose pliers too on the metal part. can't say thank you enough!!!!

    Great info Thanks. Plastic frames are a real pain though, I don't know why people like them. Metal ones are really easier to adjust.

    • @Tyler-Wiley
      @Tyler-Wiley ปีที่แล้ว

      My biggest complaint of plastic frames is that you always have to heat them up to adjust them. If you induce too much heat on the lenses, you risk damaging the lenses coatings.

  • @itorres008
    @itorres008 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for the video. I have wondered why the temples are adjusted on the bench and set to touch the surface at once. That sort of presumes one's ears are perfectly aligned parallel to the eye line, but it seems to me that the ears are not perfectly aligned, but that one is higher than the other.

    • @Tyler-Wiley
      @Tyler-Wiley ปีที่แล้ว

      If your ears are unbalanced, one of your temples will be sitting higher than the other. The problem with the bench alignment is that it assumes that your ears are symmetrical when in fact they are not.

    Excellent explanations, although the problem I have is not covered--the top of my lens is touching my eyebrow area, so it gets oily easily. I'm guessing I bend the temple downward, but not sure.

    I think you forgot to mention that if you heat the poly-carbonate glass you will damage it, so better to cover the glass with aluminum paper or wet sheet to avoid heat directly on it.

  • @jeffreyjhouser
    @jeffreyjhouser 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is informative but it would be nice to know how a lens should sit in reference to the pupil for the best vision. For example, I wear a progressive lens so my lenses need to sit on my face a certain way in order to make the lenses perform the way they should. So, some instruction on how to adjust frames to get the lenses to sit 'just so' would be helpful.

    Can you also bend the bridge so that the glasses become more curved and therefore have a more wrap around look?

    • @Tyler-Wiley
      @Tyler-Wiley ปีที่แล้ว

      If you bend the bridge and induce more of a curve, you end up outside of your optical center and that will increase your sphere and cylinder, thus, making your prescription too strong.

    if i usually require a bit of curving the back end of my glasses (smaller face)
    would wire/metal frames be ok? i usually wear plastic but want to try the other kind of style with notepads and such. but I'm wonder the entire arms on a metal frame is adjustable. or if its just the very end thats adjustable. Also I have an astigmatism.. and wondering if the glass will look too thick on wire frame?
