    Thank you so much for posting this video, Paul. I had been working through the Transcribe! Help facility, but this video brought to my attention keyboard shortcuts, which are particularly relevant. I now realise that these are listed in the “Keyboard Commands” section of the Help, but your video makes their effects way clearer. Thoroughly enjoyed seeing your Quartet again at The Hub in September.

    This is honestly one of my most used and most helpful pieces of music software. Hopefully this video will give Transcribe! users a smoother workflow and give new users a helping hand to get the most out of this awesome tool. 🎸🎶👌

    Hi Paul , thanks a lot, nice tuto, I use Transcribe for years and some shortcuts are so handy.
    I think a good feature could be shortcuts for : "go to next or previous measure/ section/ beat" , obviously when we use markers.
    Have I missed it?
    Greetings from France.

    • @PaulHillGuitarist

      You can jump to the next or previous section or measure marker by holding 'command' and hitting the left or right square bracket keys (on a Mac). This is the navigation shortcut I use the most. Is that the solution you are looking for?

    hello, I just have one question: do you know the key shortcut to make a file transpose to another key?

  • @jefkymusic999

    Good tutorial..anyway i have 2 questions :
    1. After transcribing, can the file be saved as an mxl or midi music file?
    2. Can the software transcribe music into a music score?
    Thank you

    • @PaulHillGuitarist
      @PaulHillGuitarist  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for commenting. Transcribe! can export files as wav, aiff or mp3 although it does not notate, so midi, mxl, etc. are not relevant. It is an awesome piece of software to help with transcribing, but actually working out what is being played is down to the user. There are options of a spectrum, note guesses and chord guesses, although I have never used these functions. I hope that answers your questions.

    Hi Paul. Thanks for the tutorial, I didn't know all these shortcuts!.
    Is there a page on the manual or in the 7th string website with all the keyboard shortcuts?
    BTW it would be worth to mention that it's also great for videos (change speed, mark etc)

    • @PaulHillGuitarist
      @PaulHillGuitarist  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't used Transcribe for video, but I can see that too would be very useful. There is a list of keyboard shortcuts within Transcribe (file/keyboard shortcuts) and there are many! I only demonstrated the shortcuts I tend to use the most. Hope that helps!

      @@PaulHillGuitarist Thanks, of course the list is there, I was looking on the Help section ... Yeah, I use Transcribe studying guitar with videos all the time to slow them down and see fast passages, fingerings, to label sections, correct tuning, etc. You should try it 😃

      @@JuanDeMarias The help section is the obvious place to look, so easy to miss. Transcribe is certainly an awesome tool and one of my most used pieces of software.

    Is there any way to mark and label things like verse one, chorus 1, middle 8 etc?

    • @PaulHillGuitarist
      @PaulHillGuitarist  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you can label any marker. If you create a section marker, measure marker or beat marker, right click on the new marker and select 'edit this marker'. You will then have the option to label the marker with any name you like, along with other options. You could also create a loop, then save that loop in the 'misc' section of FX. Multiple loops can be saved and named whatever you want to label them as. This is great as you can quickly jump to looped sections of verse 1, middle 8, solo, etc. I hope that helped!

    • @PaulHillGuitarist

      You can scroll to the start or end via the home and end keys (up arrow and down arrows hitting the horizontal line on Mac keyboard). Hope that helps!

      The software allows you to transcribe. It doesn't notate the things you have worked out by ear.

    does this work in windows 11

    • @PaulHillGuitarist
      @PaulHillGuitarist  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am a mac user so I have no experience of running Transcribe via Windows, although it should work fine on Windows 11 according to the information on the download page. Their site states "People sometimes ask what hardware is required to run Transcribe! (how much memory, disk space etc). The answer is that Transcribe! should run on any computer which can play sound and which is running a version of Windows/macOS/Linux which Transcribe! is available for". One of the options on the download page is specifically for Windows 10 and 11, 64-bit. I hope that helps.

    • @PaulHillGuitarist

      The software doesn't claim to transcribe the music, it is a tool to help make transcribing easier. This is one of my most used tools for teaching and transcribing music. I find it to be an invaluable tool.

      I am not aware of a keyboard shortcut for this specific function. The pitch slider at the bottom of the screen is probably the quickest approach. My Magic Mouse changes the pitch if I hover the cursor over the control and slide my finger up and down, although I generally click in the FX section and use the controls in the tuning section.
