All the containers are performing well, but most beautiful one is husband and wife working together, appreciating each others work and effort, that's the rare beauty, ❤
The winner for me is just seeing Aaron coming into his own with this type of gardening and competition. At first he seemed pretty intimidated, but now he’s much more comfortable, I love it!
Hi Laura, Aaron, I think all the pots are great because they each give us an understanding of how each plant works and under what circumstances. Thank you for being good sports with this initiative. ❤ 💪
I like ALL of the containers!! Watch out Laura...Aaron may be giving you a run for your money! I like how you're both so positive with each other. Aaron..you may find yourself preferring flowers over lawn!!
Aaron "petting" the lemon coral sedum was adorable. I can see how the Laura method of packing more plants in can give you a massive display quickly! Some of those pots are really jammin'.
Wow, this competition has been very enlightening for me. I am blown away by the difference that plant choices can make. I hope we get to see another video on these pots in the future.
Can I just say based off the videos of course as I do not know y’all personally but you and Aaron’s friendship in y’all’s marriage is so fun to see. Y’all are such a lovely couple
Watched from the start. I most love how you admit "fails". It helps when MY garden fails happen - Your strawberry pops - your pots that are not so glorious. One thing I tried was the poppy seeds tossed in the snow. That was a great success for me but I never saw your outcome. I simply love you and Aaron. Thank you.
#4 is my favorite but those are my favorite colors. Alternating #7 and #4 down the lane would be beautiful and cooling and totally lead your eye down the lane. I also love the structure and formality that Aaron’s # 9 gives. Those would be so stunning by the Hartley. Super interesting how the #10 pot looks so much better by the house.
My three favourites: 1. Aaron: Playin the blues+ superbells 2. Aaron: Gaura + Lemon Coral Sedum 3. Laura: Graceful grasses + Bubblegum supertunia. Laura, your experience with arrangment in pots and in the ground shows here. All your pots except one look fantastic. But Aarons dumbluck with those 2 pots as mentioned above is breathtaking. I think I wanted more of the unusual. I have terrible luck with Persian shield too. Its a perennial for me and they grow terribly if subjected to very dry condtions. They will crisp up even in full shade. I bought 2 and they are twigs. But they are soooo beautiful once you get it right.
I have tried Persian Shield 3 different times always in shade in containers on our protected patio space, and plenty of water - and they ALWAYS crisp up. 😬
@@willowtreehill19 I have to keep an eye on them and give them water when their leaves started to wilt. Giving them water at regular times would work well and they should be alright. Also try growing them in a container alone not mixing with other plants. Good luck. Don’t give up. The colour of their young leaves are beautiful.
They are all lovely , I think Laura’s purple and grey was absolutely gorgeous. I love it when you guys film together, you’ve such a lovely relationship. Thank you for these vlogs, I absolutely love them. My husband says I’m obsessed 😂.
You just made my husband's birthday! I am constantly after him as we get a lot of Earwig damage. It's his birthday today and I showed him your last pot with the damage as a gift that Earwigs even happen even to you. I'm always showing him all your amazing vegetables and plants as your magic touch never ceases to amaze me! Pot #4 is stunningly beautiful💜. I learn so much on the growth, sun and plants performances during the container challenge too.
I love this competition. It's interesting how each plant progresses in just a short amount of time. It will be interesting to see what they look like a month from now. Thank you for giving us different ideas on plant combinations. ❤
Good morning everyone! I like😮 that each of you experimented with different colors and combinations. I think that the location of each pot has something to do with the growth of the plants. Very interesting to see how they perform each month, thank you! I am so happy you guys are so gracious to each other! Well done!💜💕 Blessings 💞💜 PS the containers in front of the house are my favorite, gorgeous! 🥰😊
I really enjoy seeing your container competition Laura and Aaron. Such a fun idea. Some plants don't as well as others, yet all of the flowering pots look very pretty. Can't wait to see them in another month or so.
I live in NE Mississippi with high heat and thick/ heavy humidity. To Aaron’s point, “not every plant works for every area,” Persian Shield does great for me in full sun. I have given up on petunias and verbena because they get so diseased and usually die by this time of the year. Our night time temps don’t really drop so there is not a reprieve period for them. We all have to find plants that work for our area. The pots look great!
My Superbena wintered over in the ground and is ROCKIN' it this year. Last year was a lot of lull. I'm in zone 7a, south central KY. WOW on container #4!!
Bubblegums are showing some white mutations this year. My sparkling amethyst has lulled this year too. Not sure what is going on. They all are beautiful but #9 is my favorite. Love the plants at the front door!! Love the Columbine too in the background of the container with the blue, yellow combo. Absolutely gorgeous!!🌼🌼🌼🪴🌸❤️
We grow Persian shield in the southeast. We have major humidity. And we grow them in shade. So, when you put those in there, I was pretty sure they would struggle. As you said, all the wind and dry air y’all have is prolly why it isn’t performing as well for ya.
I love when Aaron and you go together and talk about making the beautiful landscapes together “Aaron is the Tree 🌳 expert” what a great part as husband and wife !
I love this experiment! Thank you! I’ve planted a non-branded variety of the Persian Shield last year and it was labeled full shade. I put in my shade garden for a pop of color with hostas, lamium, and sweet woodruff. It did great.
I’m in Texas and planted my Persian Shields under the eves of my house among my elephant ears. They get very early morning sun and shade the rest of the day and love their life. They’re usually over 24” tall by July and come back every year. A beautiful plant.
#4 and #7 are my favorites…the purples and blues are beautiful together and the annual Salvia is such a show stopper plant! I basically lost almost all my garden this last week in a horrible hail storm. So I will be living through your gardens vicariously! I’m still cleaning up from the aftermath😢
They're all looking so pretty! Like you said, once they get some heat, they'll really explode. Hard to pick a favorite, I love them all! I especially love you and Aaron doing this project together! You're both so supportive of each other. You have a very strong, loving relationship and that also carries over to your kiddos. Love your family!
You know what....I live in FNW Qld Australia where our temps in summer get over 40C (104F ) for weeks on end and our winters in the single C digits (but not for long).......and I love GREEN and TROPICAL...even though I have lived/born & bred out arid here for 69 years. My garden is chock full of golden cane palms ( that some coastal/tropical folk hate and get rid of🤣🤣), big evergreen trees, drought tolerant murraya hedges, crotons and cordylines. Not that I don't love or appreciate flowers and annuals, it's ALL about constant shade, shade, shade and green, green, or shades of green and foliage texture for me......but this channel is just so so relaxing to watch. I love roses in someone elses garden - but not mine - so tuning in here is like going to the movies and living someone elses life without doing any of the work.....and eating popcorn if I wish. BRAVO🤣🤣🤣🤣👌👌💕💕
I enjoy seeing all the new property and the pond and all, but it’s so nice to sort of go back to Garden Answer’s “roots” and see the containers around the house and lane.
Discovered a love for planting and flowers and cool landscapes this year thanks to my Dad. Have a lot to learn still but these videos are incredible. I’ve taken so many tips from a bunch of the in depth videos and they have been a HUGE help. Appreciate all you guys do! ❤
I really liked #4 (Laura) and #7 (Aaron). It is interesting how each pot has it's own unique growing style. I must look into using wire vine in my pots next year...it's stunning!!
I think it would be helpful to be identify the retail value of each combination... just using the cost to purchase from the PW website. I am wondering the bang for the buck!
Most of their annuals are $6.99 in my area. So just multiply that by how many are in the pots. The only difference would be the pot with the perennial grass and the ones she planted from seed last year.
I think it would be different depending on your area. Garden Centers and retail store charge slightly different prices, so cost would vary. I just bought some beautiful PW plants at my local GH on sale.
I think container number 4 wins! I just loved seeing the two of you work together on this project though. I love it when my husband finds something that he loves and I try to go out of my way to put it in our garden, even if it's not one of my favorites because I want him to be more involved. He takes care of the food production portion of our garden.
Hi Laurie, The Persian Shield, I find, likes to be the only plant in the pot and also grows much better on a roofed porch in indirect sunlight. I love the plant and I buy it every spring as an annual, grow it on my porch over the summer and it looks awesome among my fall decor. I have to say that Aaron Playin the Blues pot is my favorite overall so far however the Laura's number 2 purple fountain grass pot runs a very close second for me. Happy Gardening!
I love #4. We carry the Persian Shield in our plant shop. We use them for terrariums. They like a lot of water and humidity. Maybe because of your low humidity they are crispy? They are all beautiful!!😊 I also like the one with the lemon coral sedum too👍
Beautiful pots! I think #4 is my overall favorite at this point, but I also love #5. Great job Aaron and Laura! Here at the end of June, all my Supertunias and Superbenas are dead. I always spray with BT and feed weekly, but I think they just can’t handle our humidity here in South Louisiana. I was able to get the Bubble gum to grow through the summer last year, but a total fail this year. I can’t resist every spring, but I just had to replant everything. I have beautiful Pursian Shield on my front porch in total shade, doing very well. Definitely not a full sun plant.
I so enjoyed learning about all the different plants you both used in these containers. It was so fun to see how each plants looks and thanks for explaining and putting the names on the screen of the name of the plants. Both of you are such smart people, thanks for sharing your knowledge and efforts!
I LOVE Laura's second pot with all the purples and hungry bees!!! Absolutely Beautiful!!!! And I just LOVE the sweet playfulness you and Aaron share...it's a joy to watch. Thank you 💜🪻
Containers are gorgeous! That is very unusual performance for a Persian shield, I grew it last year and this year in zone 7, humid SWVA, full sun and they are full, lush, and gorgeous. Maybe they need protection due to your wind?
This is my favorite project that you and Aaron do for us. We can experience weather performance as well as combinations. My favorites are 4 and 7 but it will interesting to see how each pots does as we progress thru the summer heat. Each of us are drawn to different color, and shapes. It would also be nice to know the cost of each pot because Laura wants instant impact and Aaron is willing to patiently wait. Now I patiently wait until next month for the next pot challenge update.
Wow a month went by already and they all look great I love how Aaron remembered each plant kiddos Aaron. I love the sedum Aaron plant looks so soft sweet. Good job.
They are all pretty and I just love this idea and seeing you both work together on this fun project. I had to look this up...Last month my favorites were 4, 9 and 10. Now, I'm switching to 4, 7 and 9. So...I think that's two votes for Aaron and one for Laura. Surprise surprise! 🎉 I do love Laura's containers on the porch. ❤
I’m happy you made all the containers different this year. It is so interesting and educational to see how the plants grow in your climate which is similar to mine. I love # 4 but appreciate all your planting combinations!
4 is the winner for me. I wasn't sure when you planted it but the dusty Miller provides a great contrast. I also really like number 9. I really enjoy these container competitions. So fun seeing how the plants and combinations evolve over time and input you both provide.
Love these container competitions. Pot number 4 was absolutely stunning! Also pot number 7. It will be interesting to see them all again in a month! I wonder if Aaron's "less is more" approach surprise us in the end. Also loved the planters by the front door.
Hi Aaron & Laura. I loved this video again and Aaron is bringing new things. Laura said that she loves containers to look good right away. I'm more of an Aaron person, I like to plant fewer things and watch it grow. For me the growing and changing is part of the excitement of gardening. I think the contain that I like the best, because it seemed to be in last place and because now the one plant has nearly filled the top of the pot, I am voting for the top pot to be #3. It shows that people who can't afford to pay for 10-15 plants per container, could feasibly use 1 plant and let it grow. #10 gets a mention, because of the uniqueness (sensory plant LOL) and #9 gets mention, because that Hoopla Magenta with white border, just cannot be ignored by the eye. Thanks for the GREAT VIDEO!!!!
I planted a bunch of supertunia bubblegum and jazzberry and the bubblegum has been more leggy and splotchy like Aaron’s container, the jazz berry on the other hand is great it mounds way better and the color consistency is perfect
All the containers are performing well, but most beautiful one is husband and wife working together, appreciating each others work and effort, that's the rare beauty, ❤
❤❤❤❤❤

AMEN!!!
Fun to see their growth. What is the purple flower on the ground between your feet on the backside of fence by Laura's pot #2?
@@laurieolk5643looking back, I think it is wild violet. Glad you noticed it, lovely color!
The winner for me is just seeing Aaron coming into his own with this type of gardening and competition. At first he seemed pretty intimidated, but now he’s much more comfortable, I love it!
I was just saying how nice it is to hear his perspective in front of the camera. Great job, Aaron, and thank you for your willingness.
I personally like Aaron's one plant pot. That's likely what you'd find in my garden. $$ cost being a factor.
@@melialei I agree. I know Laura’s full pots are what most people would want, to me they look overdone, like they are exploding.
We are the winners in this contest! Just getting to enjoy your videos is my prize.🤗💕🤗
Absolutely love the fact that Aaron gets so much more involved now in the past year or two. He has a lot of knowledge that we all want to know.
Hi Laura, Aaron,
I think all the pots are great because they each give us an understanding of how each plant works and under what circumstances. Thank you for being good sports with this initiative. ❤ 💪

I like Aarons last one; Lemon Coral Sedum and Petite Pink Gaura
Ditto I love the different look not at all like the rest.
Can I just say based off the videos of course as I do not know y’all personally but you and Aaron’s friendship in y’all’s marriage is so fun to see. Y’all are such a lovely couple
I second that! I found myself smiling at their discourse in the middle of the video.

4 is still the winner for me, until the pots by the front with the metal spheres 😍
I was rooting for that one from the beginning. So excited to see how it has turned out!
The gaurav planted with the sedum I'd beautiful. I've not seen one with so many blossoms before
#4 is GORGEOUS! Unusual and not in an in your face way. Perfection. WOW Love it. Amazing.
The “Playin’ the Blues salvia” are hard to beat! I L.O.V.E. them!❤❤❤

I love this experiment! Thank you! I’ve planted a non-branded variety of the Persian Shield last year and it was labeled full shade. I put in my shade garden for a pop of color with hostas, lamium, and sweet woodruff. It did great.
Great job on all the pots! Stop worrying about the dead grass, time will make a difference 🥰

PW pots in my area are $7.99
I love plants like the sedum and gaura that are perennials for us in 8a-lots of bang for your buck then.
Take a trip to a garden center. 7-9$ for a small container of 1 plant usually. Lauras pots are around 50-60 bucks per container
#4 is gorgeous and love Aaron's #7. Loving this competition. It's amazing how fast things can grow.
Bless Aaron's heart. He tries.

#4! That dusty miller really sets off the other colors- makes me want to grow it from seed next year!!!!
My favorite is the last one!! So pretty!!!
I'm happy to see someone finally using the black cherry supertunia. It's one of my favorites.
Yes, we stopped going Bubblegum because of fading pink colour and the white splotches.
I like #7, it looks great with the Rocken the Blues Salvia & Soft Flower blend. Then #9 Lemon Coral Sedum with the Pink Gaura.
Persian shields work great here in North Florida.
“Pet the sedum” 😂😂😂 love the container competition every summer! Go Aaron! 🎊 RIP 🪦 Persian Shield 😂
