- In this video I give a full in depth tour of the 2011 BMW Active Hybrid 7. I take viewers on a close look through the interior and exterior of this car while showing details, over viewing of features, and noting unique styling cues to the vehicle itself. I also show the engine and the details of it, start it up and see how it sounds under acceleration. A thorough tour/review of this car designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.

It's crazy how a 4.4L V8 wasn't enough, so they strapped not one but TWO turbos on it....and then somebody was like, "no that's not good enough, let's add an electric motor as well"

its basically a 750Li with SOUPED up efficient dynamics. It gives you MORE power than a 750Li's V8, as he mentioned, and uses the hybrid system to fall back upon and conserve/retain more power than would be conserved/retained by the lesser efficient dynamics system.
You gonna get you hands on a Camaro Zl1 when they come out? Great vid as usual.

Can I make one small request kyle =). If it is possible, when you review new cars. Can you tell us more about the sound systems. for example how many speakers, how much amp, channels. any subs or dedicated amplifiers. I hope I'm not asking for much kyle because you do great vid's and maybe this can make it even greater =D

@DustinTROM In fact BMWs new iDrive system as well as their entire interior layout is one of the most intuative ones out there. And if you want to be your car 'to just be a car' you gotta stick to buying late 90's cars I guess.

I love the 7 series but I doubt the extra fuel economy will be so good that it makes up for the extra cost of this car over the regular TT V8. I'll take the silky smooth TT V8 anyday, well someday because I can't afford it lol.
@nautbijker we unfortunately do not have Peugeot, Renault, and Citroën in North America, where he lives and does his reviews.
In most cars pressing it once only unlocks the vehicle for some time, then automatically locks it (for security purpose). Pressing twice unlocks permanently.
do you have to hold the i-drive knob so awkwardly or do you just do it that way to show the features? doesnt seem to be designed that well for a hand

@Psyched No I mean the M Package. The M Package makes the car looks more aggressive. It's an option when buying the car. It's not Alpina.
my 7 series don't have sound when lock/unlock can i change that?
@MrMBMW93 There wasn't a single squeaking noise. All there was were a few clicks for the adjustment function. Stop hating.

@ilovecars1996 because US gallon measurements are different to gallons in every other country therefore the figures are always lower for cars in the USA

How does one get 13.3 mpg from a hybrid?
+Random Brickfilms "Hybrid" just means internal combustion engine + electric motor. The McLaren P1, Porsche 918, LaFerrari and BMW i8 are all hybrids as well. All of them get pretty terrible gas mileage, but their mileage is *better* than it would be from an equivalent non-hybrid drivetrain - and their emissions cleaner. In the context of a car like this 7-Series, "hybrid" usually means more power and greater performance as well...
2011 ActiveHybrid 7i: 17cty/24hwy MPG, 444g/mi CO2, 455HP/515lb-ft, 0-60: 4.5s, 1/4 mile: 12.9s
2011 BMW 750i: 15cty/22hwy MPG, 523g/mi CO2, 440HP/480lb-ft, 0-60: 5.2s, 1/4 mile: 13.8s

@jsiszero I don't agree. In these days most people do care about the efficiency and gas prices - even in the Audi 8/BMW 7/MB S luxury segment. The problem is that the Hybrid drivetrain's not efficient enough, especially not when compared to smaller diesel engines. In Europe at least, most people buy diesels due to efficiency and gas prices.....

@jsiszero The majority of people in EU or US for that matter, don't JUST buy a BMW in order to achieve social status - even though it's a key factor for many high-end car customers. You cannot compare the luxury/build quality/ride/experience of a Hyuandai and BMW.
Anyway, a MB S350CDI BE is faster compared to a S400 Hybrid (0,3 sec. to 62 mp/h + 20 more NM) and more efficient regarding fuel economy (S350BE = 7,6-7,9 l/100 km - S400H = 7,9/8,1 l/100km). The lifecycle of a diesel is also better..
