A dad here. Thanks for the tut. I braid my daughters hair but I'm still quite messy at the front (they have shorter front hair). I'll try your trick of putting the spare under your pinky first as I always find I have the middle strand slipping a bit when I try add.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I totally has an aha moment while you were explaining where to put the "extra" pieces. I always thought you add hair to the side pieces. Seeing that you added them to the middle makes me excited to try this. I've always added to the side and my braids are always messy when done on myself. Can't wait to try this tomorrow morning.
You are fantastic. Seriously. I tried to extrapolate your directions for the single braid into two braids but I ended up making a mess. And then I found this video! You're just amazing. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos!
This is impossible! When i try, hair is just falling everywhere and i dont know which is which, where exactly to grab, and not to mention, holding my arms up for so long and not even accomplishing anything just makes me want to give up. Which i have gave up.
Ok here maybe I can help .... First get your briars started with 3 parts. Then you take a piece of hair closest to your forehead ( depending on how you are braiding ) next you take the piece from either your left or fight and make it into the middle piece and repeat . Don't forget to braid tight and practice makes perfect hoped I help . XO
try practicing on a roommate or a sibling or a friend and get it down on them, first. it's much easier to learn when you can see what you're doing and then transfer it to your own head.
Ok, I'm probably twice your age and you just taught me how to do this. You go, girl! Mine are still not as "neat" as I'd like but I'm just now learning. Thank you, you're an awesome teacher! I am gonna keep practicing.
Years back, I watched this video because I really wanted to French braid my hair. It really inspired me and I have been able to French braid my hair myself for around 2 years now 😊
I have to have my hair like this for my dance show and I can't do it but this video is by far the most helpful video on TH-cam I will be able to do it now ! Much appreciated xx
I'm 20 years old and I never knew how to french braid and so I watched many videos to figure out how to do it and it confused me to no end. Your video really got through to me and now I can french braid so thanks :)
Omg..So glad I found your video, girl! I can't tell u how many tutorials I've watched specifically on this type of double french braid against the scalp & was NEVER able to achieve the look! That is, until I watched this video! I just tried it on my sister's hair & HAAAY, Lol finally, finally got it! For me, what set you apart was zooming in the camera to show your finger placement & then jus really being very detailed with each step. It was like the lightbulb finally went off in my head saying "Oh, so that's how you do it!" Lol. Pls continue in this manner of teaching for those of us who SOOO appreciate them!
Thank you so much! You have made this so easy to do. You go through the steps of how to deal with each section of hair so clearly, which is really nice since other tutorials usually gloss over that part.
I know this video is 7 yrs old but I stumbled on it and had to comment! Im in my 50s & was a teacher for 12 years. I think you are an excellent teacher. I love the way you show us and talk us through it. Thank you!
It was complicated at first but if you keep re-watching the beginning steps thats all you need to know to do the rest of your hair. Definitely recommend this tutorial then any other one because this was the most simplest and uncomplicated one I have come across. Especially since I have no experience w braiding at all!
I really like your descriptive tutorial I am going to try to finally do a good french braid! By the way if you do a french braid backwards as you said not to do, that is a dutch braid which looks pretty cool.
Omg wow, I have watched so many videos on how to French braid and none of them have helped, after watching this I can actually do a decent French braid in my hair for my dance competition next weekend. Thanks a lot🙂
Ive always wanted to learn this! I have thick curly hair but i always straighten it so i will try it with straightened hair. Im a perfectionist but im so lazy so i might give up. Hopefully it will look nice, ill try this tomorrow
oh my goodness!! i am so glad i found this video! :D i have always wanted to french braid, but never understood it. You explained it perfectly and i finally got it!! thank you so much and God bless!
Sweet, I did the dutch braid, got it down first try, thanks for the videos! It helped me get it down doing it on myself. I could do it on someone else, just not on myself, weird, I know. For all the others that are struggling, try it on someone else first and practice alot, you'll get it down, I have faith in you!!!!! :)
OMG!!! I finally found the perfect video to learn how to French braid. You were very informative and knew exactly how to explain everything.. I have been trying to learn since I want to do this on my daughters hair. Thanks!!! XO
I tried for ages to do this! And after watching this video I am finally able to do it, it isn't perfect...YET! But I'm so happy that I've at least managed to kind of do it? THANK YOU!!x
I watched this before trying to french braiding and it was so useful! My arms got kinda tired but I think it came out pretty well. Thanks for the help!
Thank you so much for this video I've searched all over TH-cam and yours is the only one that gave good enough detail for me to accomplish this look :)
I REALLY wanna learn how to do do this. I've tried and I've tried and I've tried but it always fails. I have a double crown so my partings are weird and not down the middle!!! Can someone please help? I try every video but I just cant
+ItsJustEllie Don't worry about the parting for right now. Just try to get the french braiding down first. I have another video linked down below that might help you out more on how to french braid. I hope you get it!!
This actually helped me out because I always braid under instead of over and I add the new strand into the sides rather than the middle. I'm going to try it tonight. I'm thinking it's just the advice I needed!
Why can't I do it. I've probably watched all of the "How to french braid" videos like 5 times, and still nothing! I think I'm just too challenged to pick up the technique...
So a friend did my hair like this last night. It looks so good, I even slept in it. Now I wanna try myself, but I feel like I won't be able to get it and mess up my once cool styled hair : (
+lalastar0002 Update(1 hour into practicing): I finally did it! (Except I tried under instead of over, making a Dutch braid instead of a French braid). Your video really helped though, so thanks!!! Never thought I could do it :)
I think I kinda get it. Your finally someone who doesn't make it look reeeeeeeeeally complicated. Looking forward to trying it in the morning. May give up though because my hair is sooooo thick. x
While watching this video I attempted to follow along and ended with a tangled mess. The next morning I tried it and it turned out wonderful!! Thanks for the awesome video!!
You are very pretty. I noticed this type of braiding is different from what I already do so I'm determined to try it out. It's just tough learning new things, but if I take my time I know I can do it. I'm going to check out that other video you made too. Thank you
thanks for the video. It was super helpful. I'm 32 and have never been able to do it without them looking crooked & lumpy. The thing that helped the most was that you said to move my hands more towards the back of my head. I don't know why I hadn't done that....anyways thanks. Oh, I did watch another video of another girl and she said to grab smaller pieces to make a longer braid, or bigger chunks for a shorter braid. That helped me too...
Very nice, (no wonder my braids look so sloppy), your instructions are easier to follow than the hurried explanations I usually get from people. I forgot about holding up my arms higher to keep my braid closer to the scalp, and higher on my head, (also the middle piece I'm sure is the secret,) I think most people have said to add to the pieces, and it's like what the heck? half of the time my hair starts braiding from the bottom up. I did get some good advice somewhere online that if a persons hair is really fighting them it's best to give up for awhile before ripping it all out. So I can throw the brush aside and try again tomorrow. :)
Omg thank you so much I spent so much time for someone to show me how to do a French braid but they were all so confusing and then I found this video this helped so much thank you

I hope it works for you!! ♥

Well i figured out HOW to do the braid... But now it just goes straight down and doesnt actually go behind my head. Great
U pooling ur hair hard
When you braid for example the one side of your hair keep the opposite hand above your head
I don't think I'll ever be able to do this
lol me too 😂😂😡😪😭
She kept repeating the first step, then I thought that's how you did it then she made me make a jacked up tangled braid lol

Ok, I'm probably twice your age and you just taught me how to do this. You go, girl! Mine are still not as "neat" as I'd like but I'm just now learning. Thank you, you're an awesome teacher! I am gonna keep practicing.

You are very pretty. I noticed this type of braiding is different from what I already do so I'm determined to try it out. It's just tough learning new things, but if I take my time I know I can do it. I'm going to check out that other video you made too. Thank you
this is way to complicated to understand :(
I know same :/
thanks for the video. That helped me too...
lol I am 33 and I cant even do it I feel silly

That's why we're here right?
Very nice, (no wonder my braids look so sloppy), your instructions are easier to follow than the hurried explanations I usually get from people. I forgot about holding up my arms higher to keep my braid closer to the scalp, and higher on my head, (also the middle piece I'm sure is the secret,) I think most people have said to add to the pieces, and it's like what the heck? half of the time my hair starts braiding from the bottom up. So I can throw the brush aside and try again tomorrow. :)
