You can go to the ocean looking of fish,and you can found vegetables on forest. That's how they survive,you don't have food neighborhood will give it to you and we eat together and share. That's our culture,you don't have job than people will allow you help them do something. I think you really fall in love with Indonesia,come and visit Indonesia 😄

it's not an ocean, it's a lake with a very big island in the middle called the island of samosir, and don't try to sail on the river because it's just the original ad the waterfall is very high you will die if you fall down.
for sure almost every big city have slum area, just make friend on your social media from Indonesia that u keep on contact to minimalize some risk.. or ask Indonesian embasy in your country,Im sure they love to help.. accomodation are available for backpacker to luxury. need to make list place in a group, so u wont jump to far. ex:if your main destination is toba, u can put riau islands, bintan Sumatra barat, & aceh in a group ( thats near each other)
There is many beggars even kids beggars, homeless, criminal, garbage in the place that is not suppose to be. Slum area n dark area, dirty river n beach and very bad trafic in the roads especially in the Big cities.

If u go to the village or mountain,u will find everything in the video.
Not all Indonesia have beauty place like that,, but indonesia is huge country, in huge land always have beauty landscape like that.
