Cheers to Leffes helping hand! Bravo to his thoughtfulness👏🏻 A true testament of teamwork and camaraderie. Added to the harmony of the journey. Leffes, may your life choices find good fortune and happiness.
Good job guys! I love how you help one another and love that Leffe is such a gentleman. Even though the trail is so tough, having each other helps the two of you to git-r-done
All of the emotions, even the bad ones, will all hit you at once when you get to the finish. They are all valid and part of this experience. Sometimes the trail just sucks. It’s not about that. It’s about pushing through to finish what you started. You will be so happy you did. Then, after the laughs and cry’s on the top of Katahdin you will look around and realize you have to climb back down lol. One last kick in the pants for the AT in the most beautiful way.
Glad to hear Pine Ellis Lodging is still going strong, 34 years ago the owners asked me and my partner how hikers find out where to stay in town (as we sat in front of the grocery store) and I said they needed to get listed in the "Philosophers Guide to the AT"; yes back then we relied on paper to find AT information. After the trail I wrote The Philosopher about many things including Pine Ellis and the rest is history. As far as I know we were the first hikers to stay there.
That's kinda cool, I could imagine "Philosophers Guide to the AT" was written up by a couple of hippie/cosmic dudes... probably has some decent artwork in it...
I hiked huge days in the lower states. It’s different when you get near the whites. You get beat down and tired. It’s normal to have that fluctuation. Don’t beat yourself up!
1945.8* - Total miles from Amicalola Falls. 88.3% - Accomplished. 257.4 - Miles remaining to Katahdin (2198.4). 23.1 - Miles this day from E B Hill Rd. The sunset was so beautiful. And yes you have a true Gentleman right there. Glad that you two were able to get rid of the bugs after the day was starting to end. Stay safe and cool out their 🙂🙂
Oh Stella you are a STRONG FIERCE WOMAN🙌🙌💗 I love watching you power through that terrain like it’s a stroll in the park!! I wish I could be there when you climb Katadin so I could give you a great big hug!!! You are so inspiring!! By the way, Leffes is a super nice guy!!! I am so OVER THE MOON EXCITED for you to have him as your hiking partner!! What a cool person he appears to be! I would be dancing on the mountain tops like him💕 You both are in my thoughts and prayers 🙏💕
Your getting closer Nyx. Might actually have finished by the time this video posts. My time in Maine was in June 94 and 98 and the Black Flies were the worst. I would like to hike Maine in the Fall someday.
Big miles day! You're getting so close and doing so well! I can't imagine how hard it is every day but very grateful that I can experience some of your epic journey! 🌸🧡
“The journey is difficult, immense. We will travel as far as we can, but we cannot, in one lifetime, see all that we would like to see or learn all that we hunger to know.”(Loren Eiseley). This journey of the Appalachian Trail is nearing its final moments. Be strong - hang in there. It is worth the pursuit and the effort. Be well, stay safe.
There was a tiny footnote on the Maine slogan..Maine, the way life should be....*except in the back country 😂 I've had to pitch a tent to have lunch before out there. You're a force Nyx. That's a lot of miles for that part of Maine. Rest them poor knees✌️
Your video reminded me of the 2 years I lived in that region and the 4 (at least) kinds of bloodsucking insects that drove me out. And then there's winter.
You guys were lucky, the black flies & mosquitoes aren’t as bad as usual this year because the woods are more dry than usual. In normal years the mosquitoes are WORSE when the sun goes down. I live about 1/2 hour north of the Pleasant Pond section of the trail and it’s so nice not being eaten alive day & night! It’s why I say winter is Maine’s best season - no bugs and no humidity! Just get some snowshoes LOL Great job to both of you, especially Stella with the bad knee. My right knee is DESTROYED but I still get out and hike/backpack when it lets me. Just waiting until I can afford TKR LOL
Insects are strongly attracted to bright colors and flowery scents. I wear tree colors, rather than flower colors. If the buzzing is not loud enough to drown all other sound, it hasnt gotten too bad. Yet.
Wow, those flies are annoying, even worse than in Australia. Excellent video. Hike safe. Do you find the BD/Leki ergo/angled trekking poles suitable for trekking pole required UL tents? I own SD High Route 1P tent requires trekking poles. I am looking to buy new BD trekking poles.
Lived in Maine several years prior to 9/11. The black flies were relentless. Locals would say the flies only go after new blood but that was far from the truth.
All your videos are great to watch, but it's interesting that the days with most risk and danger🙄have the most views. Like the day when you met a creepy man in that ghost town and then decided to hike on deep into the night. Or this week when you climbed these massive boulder fields in SE Maine. The snow packed slopes in the Whites. I believe your choice to hike solo or in a party of two is good. Yes, probably you'd be safer in a big hiker bubble but that would take out some of the thrill and excitement for the viewer😃
LEFFE ! Thank you for the spelling. I thought he was going to look like a science professor. Have you consider wearing a cam on your head for 30 min. of your favorite areas, climbs, bugs etc. for film. That way you would show more of your hike and how grueling it can be, or how peaceful. You wouldn't have to think about content until editing.
Leffes instagram is @c_mate (Cam Laird) ☺️
Thank you Stella!
I know I say it again but I am so glad that you found a wonderful, gentleman buddy to hike with. It is always good to have a company and supporter. 😊
I think Leffe just likes holding her hand 😊
❤
Can ya blame him...
I, uh, have opinions on a lot of things right now...
She’s a great gal. A guy can help a gal. Be nice people.
I’m glad you found someone to hike with …. Leffe seems like a good guy whose mom taught him good manners!☺😉 You seem happier with someone around.
Cheers to Leffes helping hand! Bravo to his thoughtfulness👏🏻 A true testament of teamwork and camaraderie. Added to the harmony of the journey. Leffes, may your life choices find good fortune and happiness.
“What a Gentleman” … favorite line of video
You've got this, Stella!! 💪💗💞♥💞💚💞💙💞 I look forward to your videos 😍 You 2 make a great team and I'm glad to hear Coyote is well. He's a true loner:)
You've had some hard climbs. You keep going like the energize bunny. Keep trekking. 😀
I think you and Leffe are a perfect hiking duo ! I love your hiking strategy to avoid the bugs!

There's some cruisey trails in the 100 mile wilderness. Some flatter trails ahead. Some lol
Thanks!
That sunset! 😍

I can almost feel your pain. I know you are happy to be done. Still I am going to miss your videos a lot. Thank you for sharing. ☀️
You can now watch her other hikes! I loved the CDT. Are you watching Taylor?

No pain, no gain that’s a Maine!
wow 23 miles in southern maine is insane. everyone talks about the whites but maine is steep rooty and rocky.
I based out of Pine Ellis on two of my section hikes.Ladies couldn’t have been nicer!

A dryer sheet on you hat is helpful. Blue mouthwash with wp some salt dissolved in it also is helpful
Almost done with elevation.
Stella, I know those damn flies had to be miserable!!!!
Omg I’m with girl !!! The bugs would have done me in.
Doin great guy!!!

At some point she mentioned that she just holds it in her hand.
Great job. Lengthen your Stride in all things!!!!
Ole time woodsman best deet free products, you should have got some before entering Maine.

I dunno, a lot of dudes just kind of like doing their own thing and staying out of the limelight. eg, you don't see Coyote's face a whole lot.
Am I first?
Yes! Congrats!🎉🎉🎉🎉
Congratulations, a potato 🥔 for your prize
@@MrMorton 🤣
Am I 15th ? … lol
