Oh long ago
Was I such a fool
Shy and afraid
But thinking I knew all

Broken and dismayed
I didn't know anything
Long ago

As far as I've come
But with confidence
Thinking you know it all
Brings inevitable failure
And a destined downfall
But with confidence
Knowing you know nothing
Brings strength
Even when you fall
And did I fall.
Oh long ago,
I was a fool
Thinking I wasn't afraid
But I was
Long ago
But oh, it wasn't
So long ago
I'm not so much who I used to be
In so many better ways
I'm grateful for the wisdom
Life's hardships have brought
But wisdom doesn't solve the feeling
Of missing something you lost.
