I have 3 of these lights, they are spot on but the issue is the battery life. Here in UK these used to be for sale at Homebase under the name "eiger". I will try to change the existing 18650 cell on mine for a bigger capacity cell to give me longer run time. Also another annoying thing, if you are working under the hood or so, and you need to recharge the battery, you would have thought that if you just plug in the 12v car charger that came with the light, you could carry on working while this light is charging up, but on mine, it simply doesn't work that way, once you plug in the 12V charger, the light automatically shuts down.

After the harbor freight version dies, it continues to work after you plug it in

I have the same problem with my light. I wanted to brake it in half. That's a great mod thanks for the video.

I took mine apart and put in a better 18650,it was easy enough to do and battery life is much longer, great idea you have here

Tell us more.... Battery Life is really what lets this light down. I rarely use it anymore.

I have 3 of these lights and the issue is the battery life as you said. Did you put an 18650 with a bms in it? Or was an 18650 without bms that you harvested from somewhere?

To be honest with you I don't know that much about batteries or electronics,if it had more than one cell I probably would have done more research on how things work, but since it only had one and I had some 18650 Panasonics for my vape laying around I just used one of those, those batteries are protected ,I just soldered the thing back the way the old one was.Like I said I don't know anything about electronics,I just know how to take things apart and put them back together.I gave the light away but it was working when I did, whether or not it's still working I don't know.

      thanks for your reply.
I will do a bit more of research. I really like these lights, apart from the issue of run time.

@@ruinunes8251 I got my info off Google. It was a forum thread where the guy was asking the same thing you did .Three people responded "or you could just put a protected 18650 in it and be done with it " that's all I needed to hear and that's the route I chose because my knowledge about electronics doesn't go much farther than that.

That light is GARBAGE! hardly used it and it will loose its lighting duration abilities and will end up lasting about 20 minutes after every full charge!
No wonder its only $30 wasted bucks!
