  • 24 Feb 2023: One year of the Ukraine conflict. No one thought we would see this day. Ukraine has shown unmatched resistance, buoyed in a very great measure by the 130Bn dollar military and other aid from US and Europe. The FIRST major conflict, post the World War 2 involving Europe; this war has been a multi-dimensional war with every arm of coercion and diplomacy, war and war fighting including war by other means and is a great case study of how the future wars will be fought. It has also laid to rest the theory that future wars will be short, swift, intense and limited in scope. It has also debunked the theory that globalization and economic inter-dependence will deter wars and has underscored the deterrent power of the Nuclear Weapon. Does it mean Taiwan take over will not happen? No, certainly not and China may be emboldened even more, with the fatigue of supporting the Ukraine war and the economic chaos it has brought about and the low levels of weapons and armament stockpiles in the west. What does it mean for India? How should we be better prepared and equipped?

      Thank you, Anu. Yes, Indeed, I hope we find a solution, but seems unlikely till the results of the so called 'spring offensive' come

      Thanks, Amarjit. I hope too....but going by the happenings in last few days, seems difficult. One one hand Xi has changed his advisors, inducting 2 with experience of Taiwan, possibly showing eagerness to resolve the issue, on the other, US and NATO are unwilling for peace....at least not till spring offensive is done and dusted

    Very interesting and educative brief. Russia won't give up, he is well recoiled to bounce appropriately. It is now or never sensitive situation, as learnt through hard way and deception by Nato. Has enough enriched experience in war and occupation. Seems well calculated for long drawn war. Putin won't like to be remembered looser rather in awe Warsaw time nations out of fear may unite out of fear. Giving it a last chance will exhibit great patience, wait and let Nato loose sooner in global economic war situation as many nations would opt out or face the brunt severely. Finally frozen situation briefed by or third war is not ruled out but seems unlikely and Russia will contain its most needed ambitious security around its geopolitical existence if need be ruthlessly!

    • @ChaxSimplifies
      @ChaxSimplifies  ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely, I agree. As of now, the frozen situation seems more likely, unless the spring offensive throws up surprises

    At the end of a year of war, Gas and oil prices are lower than at the start.
    Russia has forever lost its most important market for gas namely Europe. Europe did not freeze and alternate sources are available.
    Russia is supplying oil to India and China at no profit or even at a loss.
    This war will end when Russia is no longer able to fund the war and that is closer than people realize.

    • @ChaxSimplifies
      @ChaxSimplifies  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats an interesting perspective. Not too sure if Russia has lost the European market. Dont forget, it was the same Europe that was negotiating with Russia for support against China till the onset of the conflict. With new revelations on the Nord Sea gas pipeline, lets see how that chapter unfolds. EU is happy with India buying Russian oil processing it and selling it to them.
