    Great variety of vocal examples. THAT's what we need! Especially the rock kinda voice with a little grit. Really reveals how the mic handles the 1k-5k area. The Lewitt is surprisingly good!

  • @mongobeni4992
    @mongobeni4992 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    The akg sounds more neutral, but the Lewitt more good. I think it add some eq boost and this IS a very good thing because it's like having an analog eq connected when capturing the sound. And this IS what pro studios do

    wow the gladiator and commercial monologue really show bring out the bass qualities of the AKG C414 compared to the LCT 440! It really has a lot deeper bass for the AKG C414!

    Hey, what's your overall opinion about the LCT 440 Pure? I own one, It's almost new but I want to exchange it for a Shure KSM32 because a couple of weeks ago I got a KSM44 mint condition at a great deal ($200). So I kind of felt in love with the KSM of course, it's a lot more natural. The Lewitt sounds kind of in your face and very crispy, but also thin in some situations and silabant. I don't know what to do, I want to be enlightened : (

    • @JollyLegend
      @JollyLegend  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I love the microphone but I want that larger than life bold sound, for a natural sound there might be better choices but to me those microphones sound "boring" in comparison. When joining discord calls, the lewitt microphone is the one most people always comment on how high quality it is, back when I used the Neumann U87 ai I didn't really get many comments.

    • @Angelo-vb6dg
      @Angelo-vb6dg 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JollyLegend lmao, it's so weird when we end up expending a lot of cash on gear but the final user and consumer electronics make stuff that don't "pop" sound bad. But I'm not only talking about streaming ...I feel like the KSM32 might be a lot "fuller", I can apply post processing to brighten up the KSM32 while streaming live with "PipeWire" when I'm on Linux.
      I'm just asking what would be your opinion overall about LCT 440 vs KSM32. I would love to hear the KSM32 on your voice. I saw some time ago your video with the U87, it sounds delicious, it is the one I dig ...I don't like that much the TLM103 and not at all the TLM102 (I feel they're not worth it for the price)

    I actually really like the AKG on your voice! it catches some really nice clarity and low end in your voice and seems like it would be able to be eq-ed into whatever you want it to be. The Lewitt is too biased for the high end which could limit your choices in post. Most audio engineers want a flat recording as a blank canvas and the AKG does that so well. The compression helps the Lewitt but I still prefer the AKG by far

  • @patrickgleason6610
    @patrickgleason6610 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    There's a low range boost in the LCT that the 414 doesn't have. Overall, to me, the AKG is a good bit better, but the Lewitt sounds good.

    Taring my hair out... RE-20, 7B, or a Condenser.. ugh.. The lewitt does sound brighter. A lot of newer mics seem to be aimed at streamers. Pre mixed is what I call it. But I still love flat warmer mics and give my crispy in eq. Rhode NT1, U87 type. I need a Mic for naration. I have a Harlem Hogan VO1 but want something better... my voice is not nearly as deep as yours. leaning more towards re20 cause i have access to a 7b but wonder how well it does on vocals outside of vo like singing, rapping.

    you gotta project more on your singing and rapping. Stress the SPL a bit. Rappers and singers are very very very loud compared to even the loudest voice actors. thats my concern in getting a RE20 or 7B vs a Condenser. Wonder how well they do with louder sources.. Redhot Chillipeppers use 7B for a lot of the vocals.. hmm

    I don't understand what some people here are hearing. The AKG is abundantly superior in this video, both unprocessed and compressed. The breath and evenness across the spectrum and its clarity are night and day. The Lewitt is nice on you, mostly because you've got a great voice. But for voice acting the AKG is a far better choice.

    Great comparison video NOW put Rode NT1 up against both. You will probably find it matches the AKG 414 dark natural sound for the same sort of money as the Lewitt 440... I find the Rode NT1 equals a Neuman 103 and is a pretty good U47 on the cheap 😂

      Me too, with clearly better harmonics and a more even coloration in pressure rise, points that are not important to many...as long as it sounds high and low with a lot of compression in the barby pop vocoder music. When you record a upride piano, acc.guitar, with the C414 you can hear wich brand strings on it by the lack of harmonischen ( Harmonics make a tone rich and that requires a lot of quality from a membrane or strings and electronics with very low tolerances )
