From what clips I've seen of this it was a real MEETING OF THE SPIRITS!!! Just as I hoped and expected from two of the best, versatile, and adventurous musicians on the planet.
@@M1keA1 Yes. But aside from being a speed demon Billy brings a stage presence, energy, and sensibility for grove and drive that frankly no one else in the game has. Chris Thile is also a big ball of energy. Billy can at least match that. I really do believe that in a decade or two with further training in music theory, Billy probably will properly surpass Tony Rice as the best bluegrass guitarist of all time.
The look on Billy’s faces tells you he’s in for a long night. It must be hard to play with Thile because no matter the instrument he’s most likely above your level
It’s a shame this doesn’t exist somewhere digitally recorded and all we have is cell phone recordings. A lot of people have waited for this a long time time.
Thanks for posting this. It was such a phenomenal show. I prefer standing at shows but this was so special and freakin amazing that I didn't mind sitting and watching /listening in one of the best acoustically sounding rooms you could ever see a show at. They did an amazing job renovating the little theater and it paid off in spaids with how crystal clear every note was. They sounded so great it was like they'd been playing together their whole lives. Unbelievable on just a few days of practice. I don't think I'd ever seen Chris Thile before but I definitely will again any chance I get. And Cory Henry is always fantastic and like this generations Stevie Wonder with his level of talent. They really need to record an album together. They played off each other so well and really brought out the best in each other. They were having a blast as was the entire audience. Looks like you were sitting a couple of rows in front of me. Chris has got to be one of the best mandolin players out there and Billy is always next level. So many great spontaneous moments and just sheer joy on stage and off. It felt like the grand Ol Opry came to NY and tore the roof off of David Geffen Hall!!
I was wondering when these guys would find each other. I wish I was were there as I believe this pairing will go down in history as one of the best ever.
Two masters playfully pushing each other - blissful.
You’ll never see anything like that again or otherwise. Incredible.
Who couldn't watch and listen to that for days (or years) on end?
That’s some fucking awesome rhythm playing at that speed.
These boys been having so much fun the past few days.

Chris Thile overjoyed to play with a guitar player who can keep up with him
he’s played with plenty of guitar players who are just as quick as Billy

As for the Tony Rice comment that a really steep hill to climb. It’s not just theory it’s the tone. Tony was a monster
@@M1keA1Billy is the best guitarist Chris will probably ever play with and that’s not a knock on Chris. Billy’s star is rising for good reason.
Thile is jumping from joy at the end. You love to see it!
He’s found his soul mate. Lol! They’re so cute and charming and it’s a blessing to watch them.

Wow!
Does anyone know if was recorded instead of cell phones. Don’t get me wrong I’m grateful for these mlmmmm these. I’d pay for this high quality audio.
If you slow it down to 1/4 speed and try very hard it’s still impossible to learn.
Where was this? Asking as my jaw is on the floor
Wow 😭😭
Sheeeyit!
These kids are very fine (mind you I'm 69 yo) !!!!!
Amazing but why does it look like it was filmed in the 70s on Super 8?
taken from a distance at max zoom. Hey better than nothing. Sound is not too bad
Lincoln Center does not allow videos. Many people were told to stop
Tony Rice has been reincarnated.
ND THEN SOME
Doc?
Billy recently learned theory from the Sonora Guitar Intensive 10-week program.
Watch his interview about the course.
Molly T reminds me more of Tony Rice. Billy strings is in a whole new category.
@@luthiermatt she even has his demeanor!
