My main memory of this song is a pro wrestling tag team called The Rock And Roll Express from the NWA, which is now owned by Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins. Watching them beat the Soviets to win the world tag team championship was a serious excitement peak to this 12 year old cold warrior.

The ‘80s,for as much as it’s a decade known for the electronic sound, had a LOT of retro ‘50s-sounding hits, from Billy Joel’s The Longest Time album to the Stray Cats. I spent most of my high school years and some of my college years (before I got into New Wave) listening to the oldies stations in Chicago and Milwaukee.
I even got into a self-imposed challenge of trying to stump the Milwaukee station’s all-request Saturday night DJ by calling in with obscure songs. I finally got him when I asked for the Dion and the Belmonts’ cover of When You Wish Upon a Star-he had never even heard of it before, but I had it on a mixtape. I also got a reaction from him when I requested the Kingston Trio’s MTA. I had told them I was calling from Marquette, so they knew I was a college student, and he just asked me how the HECK I knew the song?! My dad had raised me on his folk music albums, especially the Kingston Trio, which is what I told him. He dedicated the song to Dad, which was really sweet.

Me, in the 80s. We would have been best friends if we'd gone to the same high school. 😎👍 First real job in college was at a record store IN THE 80s because of what I knew solely by listening to the oldies stations and my parents' record collection. Best. Job. Ever. Especially so when working in Memphis. Good times.

I was born in 1991 and I listen to Jim Cornette’s podcasts, he was the manager of the Midnight Express, one of the best heel tag teams in wrestling in the 1980’s. Anyways, this song is one of the songs the Midnight Express’s rival the Rock N’ Roll Express used in the 80’s and a lot of young women loved them. So I’m kind of surprised some older wrestling fans haven’t pointed that out. That might be what this song is best known for.

Amber and Jay, I highly recommend you listen to "All Over The World" by ELO and I also recommend you react to the flash Mob dancing video of this song. This song is upbeat and positive and fun, and the video with everyone dancing just adds to the fun. For a Chicago song I would definitely recommend Chicago with Peter Cetera singing lead vocals. One song you haven't reacted to is "If You Leave Me Now" which is the first song by Chicago with Peter Cetera doing lead vocals and it became a number one hit. It is one of Chicago's best and most beautiful songs.

If you want to hear "spacey" ELO check out The Whale off Out of The Blue. Very spacey synth combined with actual whale "songs". Used to play my 8 track copy of Out of the Blue late at night while being outside late at night with my telescope in the seventies. Worked all summer to save up for the thing in 78. Was checking out the Milky way one night while listening to The Whale and a little light went flying through the field of view wjile it was playing. Cosmic.

Every time I see these guys I think about the Beatles because Jeff Lynne was so heavily influenced by them. You can’t go wrong with ELO! For your next Beatles reaction please do “Let It Be”. It is just a ‘must do’ kinda thing. You will understand when you hear it. 🌺✌️

There are no bad Chicago songs, but you may try "Hard Habit To Break". Whichever you choose, you will enjoy it and I will enjoy sharing you reacting to it. That's what this is about. Those of us who love great music, sitting down and sharing it.

This song is the definition of rock and roll this was the first form. Just a slightly upgrade from rockabilly from the 50s. Of course ELO but it's on magic into . You hear this song you just want to do the jitterbug and jive. Always puts a smile on my face

This is real rock n roll. Not many bands left like this AC/DC and The Rolling Stones…and that’s about it. It’s that old time twelve bar blues rhythm that is the template to the sound.

Not seeing a lot of the following group in reaction vids. Please check out War. Many folks have had some exposure to ‘Low Rider’, I dig Cisco Kid, Four Cornered Room is great, but maybe my fave is The World Is A Ghetto.

I just found you guys, new subscriber. Fun channel! Jeff Lynne's ELO is out on tour right now. As hard as it is to believe, they are fantastic live and in person. Best concert of the year! I'd love to see your reaction to ELO's - ROCKARIA! It's opera combined with a Chuck Berry sound. Don't worry about the opera part, it's a great song and probably the best song to showcase ELO's total abilities!

Early 80's had some really good 50's-inspired songs. I think the next one you gotta check out is "Twisting by the pool" by Dire Straits.

I agree. But, I'm not sure they would appreciate the earlier stuff as much as we do. They haven't heard anything prior to A New World Record yet, although "Do Ya' is technically older.

Classic song! And as a wrestling fan of over 40 years, every time I hear that song I think the old-school Tag Team of Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson otherwise known as the rock ‘n’ roll Xpress! Lol!
Back to the music, you need to look up “evil woman“ by this group as well.
