This is my very favorite episode! Thank you for posting the series and the memorable commercials. I love going back to my era and seeing these great shows again!
Wow!!! This program was awesome!!! I vaguely remember this program, but Bill Bixby was and still is my favorite actor!!! Especially at the tender age of 54 years old!!! I love this channel. Please show an episode of The Magician!!!
I agree about Bill Bixby. I grew up watching The Courtship of Eddie's Father and especially The Magician. I''ve enjoyed all of his performances and always enjoyed his acting range. I just found all episodes of the Magian on DVD. Good times!
I always liked Bill Bixby! (Even though I was born in 1983.) I love watching older tv shows. Kind of obsessed (with the Golden Age of Television). He was so cute in My Favorite Martian. So sad that he died so young. Thanks for uploading this great stuff! You're awesome! This is a great episode!
I am 75 going on 76 years of age and remember this time in our country when life and our American culture made sense. I miss those days so much now that we have sunk so low.
Great lost 70s Series!! We are thoroughly digging ALL OF YOUR CONTENT! Especially dig the nostalgic Commercials! Great Memories for us Baby Boomers! Much Thanks!!! FAB CHANNEL!!
"hsdentertainment," If NBC had not boneheadedly CANCELLED "Quinn Martin's Tales of the Unexpected" in 1977 everything would have been alright. . . . . And right, Bixby WAS incredible as 'The Incredible Hulk.' And shines here as Navy Lieutenant Commander John Kelty, man of the sea and husband and parent. The casting of proven, familiar faces and filming on location -- hallmarks of QM's series -- say 'quality' and are major assets.
56:54 Sanford Arms didn't hold a candle to the hit show Sanford and Son which it lasted 6 years. Sanford Arms lasted 4 weeks. 57:04 Chico and the Man start its 4th and final year on air, but it won't be without Freddie Prinze after his suicidal death during year 3 in January 1977. Overall, another great find of this video as always.
As I sat here thinking to myself why I haven't heard of this show before, I see the date and it figures this was broadcast 8/24/77 and I was 4 days shy of being a whole 4 months old when this aired!
Txs for this revisit. I luv Bix and enjoyed watching this (of course, they made him a dozen years younger). I think that I spied character former child actress Beverly Washburn, briefly, as the Dr.'s sec'y. Of course, William Conrad's narration is spot on.
Holy Twilight Zone, Uncle Martin! It looks like Tim[O'Hara] has gotten himself into a time warp! Won't he turn "green with envy" at some point?!? 😜😝😂😆😁
😎 11:00 Actually in 1977 when this was aired we still had dial phones. But everyone was transitioning then to push button. But the first push button phones came out in Nov. '63 and Bill Bixby is supposed to be from 1952. 😎 11:50 I think recorded messages like this started in the '70s, hence his confusion.😎15:50 Incredible Hulk began Nov. '77; guess they'd already started production 😎19:00 They let him on the bus with no money? I guess he had 1952 money and they accepted it. 😜 20:50. A guy with long hair playing rock on a tape recorder; this was before the walkman..interesting to see the difference between 1952 & 1977: some things changed, some didn't. 20:00 "Korea, that was 2 wars ago". Wait there was Vietnam....did I miss one? 😒22:50 "I know Elm Drive no 33". So he memorized all street address numbers? 😒 48:00 So he meets his son who was 11 when he disappeared and at age 36 doesn't recognize him?
"Friday night this fall, it's back to back fun and action as James Garner returns as Jim Rockford in 'The Rockford Files'. Jim has his own special way of private investigation and his own special flair for barely avoiding trouble. Then, Jack Klugman follows up with his own unique style of getting to the truth as 'Quincy' returns for a new season. 'The Rockford Files'. 'Quincy'. Fridays this fall on NBC."
Yeah!!! I sometimes feel the same way Bill Bixby did when he woke up in a hospital and its 1977 , I wake up and can,t believe I,m in a strange weird world that everything has gone upside down and its 2023, trying to find my way back to 1977, for real Jack🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Never did see this air in Detroit, I was watching Sanford and Son, Cannon, Rockford Files, Threes Company and alot of 50s and 60s reruns plus Saturday morning Cartoons,Capt Kangaroo,Creature Feature Sir Graves Ghastly Star Trek Twilight Zone Hockey Night in Canada etc, Wish I can be back in 1977, heard that Extraterrestrials can """TIME TRAVEL""", ( some people who have been abducted never came back assumed drop off at a different time in Earths History)well beam me up and drop me off to 1977, don,t know if they can make me 14 years old again that would be excellent also🙂
This was obviously a show along the lines of Night Gallery from the early 70s. I don’t remember it at all. But another comment said that it was on opposite Charlie‘s Angels on Wednesday nights, so that explains why I was unaware of it. I miss the commercials of the 70s and early 80s. It’s like being enveloped in a warm cocoon of nostalgia. I remember EVERY SINGLE ONE of those, and the silly Jingles. Who would have thought that something as prosaic and commonplace as tv ads would be such a comforting link to the past in this current disturbing time we are in?
Please show more of these. I remember watching this show when it was on NBC back in the 70's. Two particular episodes of note: Roy Thinnes plays a undercover reporter on death row; Ronny Cox plays a sheriff of a small southern town in which, one night, all the domesticated dogs become undomesticated and attack people. Also, could you please show episodes of "The Darkroom", ABC's horror anthology.
Notice in the description, "The Courtship Of Eddie's Father" was NOT listed in Mr. Bixby's credits. That's because "The Magician" came AFTER that in his TVography.
This is a great tv movie. I was born in 76, but love classic tv. I only wish i knew of more great gems like this. But i wasnt around then to know them. So any suggestions would be appreciated ☮️♾️
The Dick Van Dyke Show, The Courtship of Eddie's Father, also with Bill Bixby, Bewitched, That Girl, Flipper, Julia, Nanny and the Professor, Gidget, Star Trek, Quincy, Marcus Welby, MD, Mary Tyler Moore, just to name a few. Enjoy!
Ah the era of Tickle anti-perspirant. To this day it is the most annoying commercial I have ever seen, especially the giggler in the original ad standing in front of a volleyball net. This was also the era where almost every commercial had a jingle. The bus of bad acting was something else. The man with the library of production music library cassettes, LOL. He was about five years out of date himself, ignoring the whole disco era in full flame back then. By 25 minutes in, Bixby’s confusion and disbelief started getting tedious . It should have been clear to him he was in a different time considering buildings, cars, and people’s dress and mannerisms. If it was 1952, everyone on that bus would have been in a suit or dress. LOL at the Glidden paint ad “hidden interview.” Sure it was as they read off cue cards. Lastly, loved the boat in the last few minutes of the show. I wonder whose kid loaned it to them. Best part about the ads is how few there were back then. Three 30-second commercials per break and one or two availabilities for local ads. That would mean an ad load of ~7 minutes per hour back then, a fraction of the 16-17 minutes of ads NBC packs in today on shows like Law & Order, reduced to 42 minutes.
Stockton Rush. Imma gonna explore the depths in my own vessel. 16:50 Tickle, with the big wide ball. No wonder they’re laughing. 😅 25:40 Hare Krishnas. 😂
Very aggressive read on that Zest sponsor tag at the end. Clearly the announcer was pressed for time and rapidly read the copy. But that’s another one that would have made the little tyke version of me some problems sleeping!
Agreed. Bixby should have just moved in with Dean Stockwell's daughter. The title of the episode sort of foreshadowed he wasn't going to be able to get back to the 1950's but he could have started over in 1977. Not sure what the point of the story was.
What I would give to go back to 1977! Anything to get out of this insane, upside-down world we live in in 2023
We're in the end times. Bible prophecy is unfolding before our eyes. For real.
Frfr!🙄🤦♀️
In the Future, Men will think they can be women and vice-versa.😑😑😑
Me too! If only we can invent a time machine!
Agreed.
70s TV was something else. Thanks for the trip back in time.
Really enjoyed this! Loved all the old commercials too. Thanks so much!
When TV was Great.
Thank you, I am a fan of Bill Bixby.
I hope that he gets his Hollywood STAR.
wow what a treat. Those were the great days
This is my very favorite episode!
Thank you for posting the series
and the memorable commercials.
I love going back to my era and
seeing these great shows again!
Thanks for this fantasy story from 1977. Quinn Martin's name was always a hallmark of quality, and Bill Bixby was an excellent actor.
William Conrad could narrate a toilet flushing and it would still sound epic.
I think you mean William Conrad, though Robert Conrad was pretty epic too
@@TucsonAnalogWorkshop Oh right! Thanks, i have corrected.
It's so fun to see the old commercials in between the show.
Oh, this is fantastic. THANK YOU!
Thank you!
Great show - and the commercials take me right back to my childhood
The historical irony of a water treatment plant in Flint, MI...
LOL Good catch!
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Wow!!! This program was awesome!!! I vaguely remember this program, but Bill Bixby was and still is my favorite actor!!! Especially at the tender age of 54 years old!!! I love this channel. Please show an episode of The Magician!!!
i used to watch the incredible hulk in 1980 in Ireland...lived it when he got angry! simple times..
I agree about Bill Bixby. I grew up watching The Courtship of Eddie's Father and especially The Magician. I''ve enjoyed all of his performances and always enjoyed his acting range. I just found all episodes of the Magian on DVD. Good times!
This is awesome!
My mom used to let us stay up and watch this I just happen to run across this on TH-cam

Cool. 1977 was the year I was born 🎉
Thank you for posting this ❤

Great Memories for us Baby Boomers!
Much Thanks!!!
FAB CHANNEL!!
I think William Conrad narrated The Fugitive too. Great voice.
If Bill Bixby would have just turned into the Incredible Hulk everything would have been alright
Do you know why the Hulk always outgrew his shirt but never his pants? Because the experiment had altered his jeans.😛
"hsdentertainment," If NBC had not boneheadedly CANCELLED "Quinn Martin's Tales of the Unexpected" in 1977 everything would have been alright.

I loved this show!
Thank you for sharing well worth watching. The lightning that they used looked like the same stock lighting that they used in The Incredible Hulk.
56:54 Sanford Arms didn't hold a candle to the hit show Sanford and Son which it lasted 6 years. Sanford Arms lasted 4 weeks.

The Freddie Prinze story is such a bummer…..dude had everything…wasn’t enough
What does that have to do with this idiot
An interesting TV series that sadly got beaten in the ratings by Charlie's Angels on ABC.
It was also up against the CBS Wednesday Night Movie.
As I sat here thinking to myself why I haven't heard of this show before, I see the date and it figures this was broadcast 8/24/77 and I was 4 days shy of being a whole 4 months old when this aired!

I loved these. Darn they make 50 yr old look 75.
LOL imagine what they make 60 look like.
The guy's hair, is too long
They should used brylcream 😋
Bill Bixby and the son
Holy Twilight Zone, Uncle Martin! It looks like Tim[O'Hara] has gotten himself into a time warp! Won't he turn "green with envy" at some point?!? 😜😝😂😆😁
A Quinn Martin Production! AH! THE 70's.😆😆😆

I was 14 then also. It's unreal isn't it? Time warp. It sped by so fast my head spins.

A very young Patrick Laborteaux as his son and Craig Wasson on the bus

"Imagine if you will, a show that tries to do what I did better 15 years earlier. You are about to enter the Quinn Martin Zone".
😆😆😆
43:56 Peggy Taylor voiced the star profile.
56:24 Alan Kalter voiced the Zest commercial.
Chris Pines dad!
He also played Sergeant Getraer on CHiPs.

Dick Ayers was a artist at Marvel Comics in the 60's to 70's, but here he is Dean Stockwell? 🤔😆😆😆

He was in Bermuda triangle
Lousy ending
Eeeek, thriller, suspence... oh boy, o boy, creepie
Was this before hulk
Same year as first hulk tv movie 🫤
Was that kid the chubby sidekick on JAG? The facial features are too close for it not to be so...
The 1950s people hair was too long they look like they were from the 1970s.
Interesting episode; horrible ending. 👎

William Conrad. The voice of God.
I thought that was Ken Nordine.
