I thought I'd try United's Economy Plus on my flight from Seattle to Tokyo/Narita. United's service was much better than my experience on AA from Tokyo a week earlier.
What a nice ending to your Narita Flight! Hope the service was good. United Airlines will fly 787s between Seattle and Tokyo-Narita next month. Anyway a great video. :-)
The thought of eating the food on that flight makes my stomach churn. I'm planning to go to Asia soon. If I take United, I'll be sure to bring my own food
It's called the Flight Attendants Union, which mandates seniority for those who are already employed, along with United seeing no need to hire more FA's until the current batch retire. Plus, United's benefits have gone way downhill from how they were even 5 years ago (Flight benefits for example are limited to highly senior employees). Thankfully, Vacation Airlines will be bringing fresh blood in 2015, along with strong competition to United, Delta, and American.
You obviously do a lot of flying. Next summer I will be flying from Asia to the US for the first time (either with United or ANA/JAL). What are these carriers like on the whole? I also noticed that the entertainment package on their 747's is limited to a few aisle tv's. This surely makes a flight from LA - HK or Japan a nightmare. What recommendations/tips can you share. Many thanks.
You haven't stated where in Asia you are leaving from. Depending on how flexible you are with routes/time/budget and if we only look at the 3 airlines you listed then United's Economy Plus is a good option due to the extra legroom and possibly less crowded cabin. But is you are just looking at standard economy then I'd lean towards JAL (or ANA) for service. If you have frequent flyer points to use then you could consider business class or an upgrade.
So if this is prohibited then why is there never any announcements or or warnings on your ticket, plus why are you watching this on TH-cam if this is illegal?
That dinner, and pre landing snack did not look the least bit edible. I think I lost 2kg just looking at it. The crisps, and sweets were ok, so I'll take back 1/2kg on those. ;)
Well, this UAL flight was definitely better than your previous experience on AA. Nevertheless, the food service still leaves a lot to be desired. On the plus side, nice to see 3-3-3 seating in 777 economy instead of the usual new standard of 3-4-3. Also, the US pilots are first-rate.
GRL United definitely seemed better than AA and the EconomyPlus seats were great for just $150 extra. UA have better AVOD entertainment compared to AA's ancient loop system.
I've never said that older FA's can't do their job. I'm just asking why the average age on US airlines seems to be so much older compared to other non-US airlines that I've flown around the world.
Next time you fly them get the classic snack box its the best we flew business class once and they were all like would you like this .... (Some fancy food name idk) and I was just like all I want is the classic snack box and that's all I needed it's really good
Am I the only one who thinks it's awesome how big airplanes have gotten? We can now send hundreds of people on a single aircraft tens of thousands of feet in the air moving 500 mph on a regular basis. That's just awesome. Would've been a dream a century ago. And unthinkable two centuries ago.
midala40 I travel to see the world and to make videos for you guys. It's a pity to live in this world and not see different parts of it. I normally use my Sony RX100 and I may have used my Sony NEX 5R on that trip. I can definitely recommend the RX100 or the newer RX100 Mark3.
Stephen why all airline from u.s. when they come here in canada there f/a is young brunette and hot im working here in yow and see them always sometime having conversation to them and they are cool
Actually Amanda Greer I need to correct you. Filming Flight attendants is prohibited. You're wrong about filming the aircraft though. There is no regulation in the USA that prohibits filming aircraft inside or out. You're even allowed to film with electronic devices or operate in Airplane mode only.
Oh and I have to agree with you American domestic flights do sort of suck for customer service. I was raised in Asian and one of your comments how the Asian flight attendants always smile and do have better food. to me I love Singapore Airlines but I don't recommend Philippines Airlines, food is questionable and if you take the Direct flight from LAX to MNL on Pal but a sub ways sandwich and take it on board with you.. I go to the Philippines twice a year even if Singapore airlines takes longer everything is a little bit better. Oh and if your in the Philippines fly Cebu Pacific cheap non thrills airline but simple and easy but you better be skinny the seat are tight and not a ton of leg room for a tall fat white guy.LOL
Wow, United flight not smiling? Pretty much "here's your food, and goodbye?" It amazes me that they aren't interacting with passengers, cracking jokes, things of that sort. On Delta they do all of that. I've flown United only once after they merged with Continental, and was not impressed at all. Much rather Delta.
Glad to see AGISM and SEXISM alive and well in 2013! Really people, do the Flight Attendants do their jobs well? (Which BTW are not just serving you a meal on board) Are they pleasant? Why does how old they are or good looking they are still have any bearing on why they are on board? The more experienced they are, the better equipped they are to handle the situations they are on board for.....EMERGENCIES!
What a nice ending to your Narita Flight! Hope the service was good. United Airlines will fly 787s between Seattle and Tokyo-Narita next month. Anyway a great video. :-)
United is not too bad. They are certainly improving.
I was booked on the ANA 787 but then they grounded them so there was no ANA flight from SEA so I was transferred to UA.
The thought of eating the food on that flight makes my stomach churn. I'm planning to go to Asia soon. If I take United, I'll be sure to bring my own food
Really awesome vid

Great video. Foods look ok. Have u try ANA? ANA fly to Nartia from Seattle. I had on UA from SEA to NRT and NRT to SEA couple times.

I think the "soap on a stick" in the restrooms is an interesting phenomenon.

It's just an observation not a criticism that it's peculiar to the US. You don't see it in other countries.
That dinner, and pre landing snack did not look the least bit edible. I think I lost 2kg just looking at it. The crisps, and sweets were ok, so I'll take back 1/2kg on those. ;)
The food wasn't too bad, but as this was a US airline the FA's were all over forty. Where are the young FA's in America?
Well, this UAL flight was definitely better than your previous experience on AA. Nevertheless, the food service still leaves a lot to be desired.

There have been occasions where security, enforcement have on the past told people not to film... But again there is no clear law against it.
Thanks for the insight into the staffing program. Boarding United in Sydney is often like entering a retirement home.

Hi Will. I won't be flying UA for few years. have you watched my other movies including my recent UA Global First?
OH GOD! The food looks terrible! And what was up with the recycled Halloween candy ? Lol
Do you like UA or not
Hector Comacho - The aircraft registration was N22OUA
FYI...filming the aircraft and crew members is prohibited.

Jeremiah Brand You are not alone. I never cease to be amazed at how these giants get into the sky.
Does entertainment come with free headsets?
Yes
Taking one of these tomorrow from DC to narita :) then making a connection to seoul!
Lunch was pretty nasty lol
CallMee Olii it was better than the AA 'first class' lunch I had a few days earlier.
does economy plus have some place to plug a laptop?
Yes the whole airplane has plugs in between every seat :)
The flaps are filthy
Have a look at my latest Thai Airways vid Thai 747-400 SYD to BKK HS-TGF
Like your video's but what do you do to get to travel so much. What camera do you use. Thank you

Thanks. Hope to see you do more flights in the philippines. Try cebu pacific. No thrils airline but still the best
midala40 Have you flown on Cebu Pacfic?
Yes like I said no thrils cheap flight good sevice. Fun airline. Sort of how southwest airlines was but better
Any bad turbulence?
Bad Omen There was a little turbulence but nothing to worry about. Why?
Stephen why all airline from u.s. when they come here in canada there f/a is young brunette and hot im working here in yow and see them always sometime having conversation to them and they are cool

flight looks great food looks terrible
Sad, sad food. The FA's look tired.
Oh and I have to agree with you American domestic flights do sort of suck for customer service. I was raised in Asian and one of your comments how the Asian flight attendants always smile and do have better food.

It's called people watching.

SeveTransporation1045 now you can watch what I eat Air New Zealand 787-9 Business Premier teaser
Hmmm. The state of those flaps leaves a lot to be desired, Was ut just dirt, I wonder, or oil, or heaven forbid WEAR!!
And? Its not like you're going to land a F/A and doll her up... Tired of people making "old F/as" an issue. As long as they do there job right.

Lufthansa631 Yes, If I go to the US again I will try to fly on Delta at some stage.
So sorry you had to use UA instead of ANA. ANA have pretty Asian FA vs. UA ummm....no comment. ANA meals are a lot better than UA's boring meals.
