    Lived in both Vancouver and Winnipeg, and honestly I'd pick Winnipeg man. I get a more "homey" feeling in Winnipeg compared to Vancouver, everyone feels to plastic and fake in Vancouver, feels like they are all just fake people who put on masks to hide their true colors. In Winnipeg I feel it is more close knit and has a certain layer of authenticity. Sure it is smaller and less extravagant, but you learn to appreciate the people around you, and that's what counts. Also Vancouver is wayyyy more expensive compared to Winnipeg, so that's a plus.

    Winnipeg is better. Why? Major Housing price difference. Have to work 24/7 to live in Vancouver, no spending money for fun. No holidays.
    Winnipeg - comparatively cheap Housing, more extra cash, more weekend fun, can take winter holidays somewhere tropical, can take summer roadtrip to places in Canada. Only problem is winter is terrible, invest in a good parka.
    If you have lots of cash, or very high paying job, or whatever and money isn't an issue, then Vancouver is better, for sure.

      I agree. I'm from Vancouver and live in Winnipeg now for the past 15 yrs. Both my adult kids moved back to Vancouver. When we lived in Vancouver we never could have bought a house, here we did and were able to raise our kids with them being able to do activities because we could afford it here. Winter here though is awful!! lol My husband loves it as he loves to go ice fishing and he also rides his bike year round here.

    from vancouver, i can tell you that comparing vancouver to winnipeg is like comparing san francisco to milwaukee. many middle class vancouver people struggle to make ends meet....you could easily pay $1700 a month in rent just for a modest small older appartment. people in van are confused about who runs the city... the countless drug addicts, homeless, gay pride society the mayor or the activist cyclists or protesters who are allowed to shut down any street and delay the flow of traffic at anytime. to a large degree this place has been dramatically affected by big chinese money and the housing market is so out of control that even a old small beat up house will sell for one million, and i could go on and on. most people are very insular and dont care much to meet new friends. when someone from van says they will call you later that could mean later that day or later in the year. other than that its got some very nice scenery

    I have to disagree it's easier to find a job in Vancouver .. also in Vancouver all my job offers were 20-30k more than my Winnipeg ones.. Hi sorry to bother, I am law graduate from foreign country. Planning to move to Canada next year. Should I consider Manitoba. I will be doing a diploma in paralegal most probably. I think getting a permanent residency is little easier compared to other provinces. Maybe I am wrong?
      Firstly I considered BC coz of the weather but many people were saying bc has drug issues, plus it's getting really expensive. Then i decided Ontario would be a good choice. Now some friends of mine in Ontario saying it takes longer here to get PR here coz of amount of people apply for PR in Ontario. Would really appreciate your opinion on how to decide which province to choose. My main aim is to get settled in next 5 years ( I am already 27), buy a house and have my family join me.

    please do Canadian healthcare system explained

    • @VCityglobal
      @VCityglobal  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interesting topic

    • @1979rrhemery
      @1979rrhemery 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I’ll just explain it the way I see it (Canadian born and raised)...
      Health care in Canada is “free”, we pay for it in our taxes. Pretty much everything is taxed, our paycheques are taxed, purchases from stores are taxed with a GST and a PST tax. A good portion of those taxes pay for our healthcare system.
      With that being said we do pay for dental ourselves, medication ourselves, eye exams, chiropractic and physiotherapy ourselves. So essentially our doctors appointments and hospital visits and any medications we need while in the hospital are covered by our healthcare system. Most employers have a health plan coverage through insurance companies that will cover a percentage of the extra things like medication, eyeglasses, chiropractic, massage, physiotherapy, ambulance fees and Dental as well as a travel insurance coverage for if we have medical emergencies while travelling in other provinces and in the United States or other countries. So for a single person that cost can be from $50 and up a month and for somebody who has dependants (spouse or children) that cost is much higher. The cost varies based on the coverage and percentage you are getting with your package.
      Even though we are taxed quite high (13% total PST & GST on purchases here in Manitoba, and tax off of our paycheques... not exactly sure how much is put towards our healthcare of those percentages) I think that our system is pretty good. In the United States they have to decide whether or not to go bankrupt or get treatment for cancer, I’ll pay the taxes and be ok with that for if ever I get sick. You may have to wait for your doctors appointments or to see a specialist, but if you are extremely sick and need medical attention right away it’s there... and it’s free!
