I live 5:26 in a home built in 1856, although it appears that an even older structure or two were here before. I still have a couple things that adorn the outside of the home such as a horse hitching post and a well complete with hand pump. I have metal detected all around my property and the adjacent property with not much luck. This property and the adjacent property was bulldozed so much and leveled that any good artifact is either too deep or been pushed who knows where. All I ever find is trash.

I love the church chimes! The Catholic church near my childhood home used to play "Star of the East" every day at noon until a neighbor complained and they had to stop. That was many years ago. Very sad. After all these years, I still miss it. Our city hall, which is located right downtown, used to play Christmas carols and Christmas hymns over their loud speaker during the Christmas shopping season in the evenings while people shopped. It was magical, especially during a light evening snowfall. They haven't done that for many years because, again, someone complained. I'm glad to see that some churches still play their chimes.

Could that have been the wick holder & burner from what we called an Aladin lamp? The wick wasn't just a flat woven fabric type but a gauze type & round in a sort of cage holder if I remember right from my childhood at the camp. Similar to those on a Coleman lantern for lack of a better comparison. They had a much taller chimney and a decorative glass shade usually & gave off a much brighter & less yellow light. Kinda like florescent compared to a light bulb for electric years.
