I just realized that I wasn't a Christian the last time I saw that "Charlie Brown Christmas Special" on tv. Linus quoting the KJV Luke 2:8-14 had me in tears in my forties. It was so simple.
It's amazing even in 1965 we still spoke about Jesus Christ on network television that shows you how quickly we turned our backs on God and it really started in the year Kennedy was shot and the year before that in 62 and 63 when we removed prayer and the Bible from public schools however even a few years later when Charlie Brown Christmas hit the network television on ABC of all things people were still talking about the true meaning of Christmas so even in the 60s people were more Christian that's saying something when we already turned our backs towards secularism yet we still had things like this Christmas special telling us the truth about Christmas.
If you think about it our culture was still very much christian-based even though there were evil things going on until really the early 1990s 1991 George Bush Senior started talking about the New world order he was the first president on live television to talk about how they were going to be successful and how they were going to have a new world order 1991 or 1990 to be when America fully started going against the things of God not that we weren't doing it decades before but not as much and to top it all off when the presidential leader openly talks about the New world order in a positive way that should tell you something about the country that it's no longer a godly Nation.

My grandson 8 yrs old has autism. He is non verbal. No initation in speaking. He will repeat lyrics from songs like Dean Martin and Lionel Richie from their Christmas cds. However- my daughter wanted him to recite Luke 2. Like she learned in Christian elementary. Hes been watching Charlie Brown Christmas and learning it from Linus. Everytime my grandson recites it i get choked up.
Yes!!! Apparently he never lets go of his security blanket; They noted that in a devotional in Family Radio, JESUS is our hope and salvation, we need not fear, Glory to His name!
Two things you might have missed watching this memorable segment: At :31, when Linus - quoting from the Gospel - says "fear not," he drops his security blanket. He is freed of his own fears. Second, when he finishes reciting the passage at 1:04, there is a nine second period of silence as he walks from center stage to Charlie Brown, before he says "that's what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown." Simply beautiful, and it shows the love and care that Charles Schulz and Director Bill Melendez put into this classic production that we love so much.
This aired in 1965! YES! A pivotal moment on TV!!! A wonder! I was 9 years old, and I can still hear the boy's LINUS voice that recited Luke's account!!! Whaaa! Goosebumps!

I love how after this the other kids realize Charlie Brown was right to select that tree all along. And then after his tree flops over the kids decorate it for him.

It is crazy to think this scene almost did not happen. On the special features on the disk, it is mentioned that, at this time, it was basically seen as sacrilege to quote Holy Scripture on a goofy cartoon. Glad they did it. All the madness and striving comes down to this simple minute of the Bible

I have seen this since I was 4…it always struck me, but I never understood why. This and the song at the end of the show, Hark, the Harold Angels Sing, which is my all time favorite Christmas song…it brings tears to my eyes. Years later when I met the Lord, I came to understand. A show like this could NEVER be made today and that is a sad commentary on current times. Jesus Christ is Lord! If you can’t say that, you need to set aside some time and find a quiet place to think about why that is. Jesus is alive, He’s coming back and he is concerned about your well being.

The true story of St. Nicholas IS worth knowing. He grew up wealthy, but lost his parents in a local epidemic because they insisted on helping the ill despite the risk to them (hoo boy, would the left have a field day with those two "super spreaders" if they lived today). He decided to carry on their spirit of generosity, protecting girls from being trafficked into sex slavery. He smuggled portions of scripture and spent two years in prison for it. And he punched a heretic. His homegoing day is the most official start of the Christmas season, and his story deserves to be told.
I can never read this part of Luke without hearing it in Linus' voice. It was such a part of my childhood and I hate that it's not seen regularly during the Christmas season today.

Even when i was younger I some reason loved this scene with Linus now understanding besides the ending this my favorite scene or speech from Linus.
It's good that these shows are recorded. So many people today seem to forget the true meaning of Christmas.

CBS executives did not want this included in the final edit. They believed that people would object to Bible scripture in a secular format like this. However, Charles Schultz demanded they leave it in and it has become the one scene everyone remembers.
I'm actually glad they included this heartwarming scene so everyone can remember what Christmas really means
CBS is one of satan's networks! Screw them, as well as NBC, ABC and FOX. They all hate God, shame on them all!!
We never missed the Charley Brown Christmas when I was a kid, before color TV and VCR.
I wish they bring this back to CBS.

The true story of St. Nicholas IS worth knowing. He grew up wealthy, but lost his parents in a local epidemic because they insisted on helping the ill despite the risk to them (hoo boy, would the left have a field day with those two "super spreaders" if they lived today). He decided to carry on their spirit of generosity, protecting girls from being trafficked into sex slavery. He smuggled portions of scripture and spent two years in prison for it. And he punched a heretic. His homegoing day is the most official start of the Christmas season, and his story deserves to be told.
