- In this video we hit the trails with a TJ Wrangler and an FJ Cruiser to find out which is king. This was an awesome loop with a variety of forest roads, steep climbs and technical rocky terrain to put these two off-roaders to the test. Let us know which you'd prefer in the comments below!

Fj Cruiser all the way!
I have owned a few jeeps, YJ, TJ, Cherokee and M-715. Now I own a FJ Cruiser.
I wouldn’t trade it for any of them.
The FJ is just absolutely awesome and easy to work on if you need to.
Really a great rig and it’s a keeper.
I'm a Jeep guy, but sad to see they discontinued the FJ. It's badass and like the Jeep it's so unique no need for a logo on it. It's obvious what it is. Too many makes today look so alike, not FJ...
Love my FJ
I agree. Love mine too!
Both very capable of roaders. I just traded my Jeep for an FJ and haven’t looked back!
A 12,000 acre Colorado ranch owner told me years ago when I asked why he had only Toyotas as his work vehicles said they are the only ones that he didn’t to have bring back in buckets of bolts to all other non Toyota dealers!
I just got my first FJ and what a beast..
FJ Cruiser did quite well against the Wrangler that is a very competent off roader.
Makes me so proud of my Berta (FJ)!
I have pretty much the same FJ and I have to say that trail wasn't much of a challenge for either vehicle. I think the short wheel base on the jeep gives it a bit more of an advantage, but it's lack of lockers hurt it. If it were a harder trail, the FJ's A-Track and locker combination would have given it a big advantage. That Jeep would probably go any where with lockers. BTW, I love my FJ!
Love the compactness of 2 door Jeep’s, but Toyota’s are just so damn bulletproof, I’d have to choose the FJ if I owned it.
You probably havent heard of the legendary 4.0 inline six in jeeps. Which are known to be just as reliable old toyotas. Newer yotas are electronic junk like just like everything else.
@@ryansremark6983 sounds like your not a car guy my dude toyota still holds top level reliability record, can't say the same about that jeep though 🥶
@ryansremark6983 I've seen gently driven and well cared for Jeep 4.0 I6's grenade at 200k. They were good for their day, but that day has passed. I still like them, but a Toyota they are not.
Really nice job putting this video together. Great camera work, just enough music and commentary. Digging the FJ! Used to think it was a yuppie mobile! 😆 And BTW, scratches build character! 👍
That is a good-looking 2 door jeep.
Great video.
I'm a Jeep guy, but sad to see they discontinued the FJ. It's badass and like the Jeep it's so unique no need for a logo on it. It's obvious what it is. Too many makes today look so alike, not FJ...
FJ good for taking kids to soccer practice
FJ is a lot smoother riding
love FJ
Looks like a fun day out.
I really like that winch mount in the stock bumper
My sister has the FJ and I have the wrangler we love them both!
Two very different vehicles in terms of platforms. I’ll take the FJ all day long over that particular Jeep. Also, why do people insist on comparing the FJ with a Jeep that has 35-37s. It’s all in the tires. For most climbs.
Bet the Wrangler breaks down before the Fj
The question should be can the wrangler keep up with the fj.
😂
For a fun weekend off road only rig the Jeep. For an overlanding rig which will see lots of miles then the FJ.
That pretty well summarizes it!
FJ love ❤️
Used to own a Jeep Wrangler…now in a Yota. No going back.
Really excellent camera work! (Indie filmmaker, here).
Awesome 😎
Fj all day any day
With that trail it's an apples to apples comparison for sure
Love my 07 FJ!!
Own a 07 Cruiser and it never disappoints!
The camera never does justice for how steep the inclines actually are.
Love the part of the tunnel hahaha
Looks like a fun day! The FJ is very capable, and the Bronco looks to be as well, but it's hard to beat the articulation you get from the solid front axle on the Wrangler when doing technical things. Even without the sway bar disconnect (I'm assuming the TJ didn't have one).
Yup...I had the sway bar disconnected on the Tj 👍
I own both . FJ is the best. Not even close. Jeep are made like 💩.
I have a 2010 FJ, and live in south america. If it ever needed parts, I can swap most major parts with any hilux, landcruiser, 4runner, etc, that is plus or minus a decade in age to my 2010. where I go, jeeps do not follow. Your next human is 100 km away, and your next jeep part might be thousands of kilometers away; if not on the other side of the world. I am not waiting 6 weeks in the middle nowhere, for part that should not failed in the first place.
Your comment is poop. Ive had 3 wranglers and they've all been great, FJ is uggggggly. Cant get around that hideous turd on 4 wheels
@@19hundoc47 banana not turd Mr Roblox
@@19hundoc47 Lol do you have the 2wd version. I've seen stock FJ do pretty good on harder trails. My very nice FJ TTE will go and even do it better than most wrangler Rubicon's. Unless they are on 37+ and turned it into a crawler.
The FJ is far closer to stock than the TJ
is that Black Butte I saw in the background/ Looks and reminds me of Siskyou County Ca, Mt Shasta, especially with the volcanic cinder rocks.. Mt Lassen is in the running also
Love my FJ!
Dude what winch is installed on the FJ? It's clean AF!!! I would put that on my truck.
Owned a few tj’s and a few yj’s non of them would keep up with a Toyota especially in deep snow, mud, realiability, ride quality
Toyota 💪🏾
I am in love with 14 fj my bb 😊
More videos with the 40!!!!
FJ is the one!
Got an FJ and a Wrangler in the house....feeling like a juggernaut
FJ and LS Scout owner here and I agree
If you want to go off road, take the Jeep. If you want to come back too, take the FJ.
What kind of setup is the FJ running? Did you remove the sway bar links? Newer to offroading and heard that can help a lot
you can get sway bar extensions..
If I had to adjust the FJ when it came off the factory floor, I would've issued the option for the 4.7 V8 found in the 4Runner and lower model turdras. But I think there's something to that, like balancing on why the went with the V6. But I'm a bronco owner. What do I know? Love the FJ's and TJ's.
I would have offered a diesel version... and a larger fuel tank
The wrangler is probably slight better but the toyota fj earns my respect. I wish to own them both. I have a JL Wrangler and my father bought a toyota fj. The FJ is pretty cool
FJ CRUISE ALL THE WAY TOO 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻better car 🚗
Nice video. Toyota just wouldn't be able to keep up with it's ifs if the trail got more extreme. Solid axles articulate more and are stronger. The Toyota does have an advantage for hill climbs with it's longer wheel base though. That's why the 4 door jk and jl are climbing beasts because of the longer wheel base
FJ was also stock, Jeep was not
FJ all day seven ways till Sunday
Question is...
Can the Wtangler keep up with the FJ?
Good video, but music too loud....
First, where were you 4 wheeling at? Looks like Edison Sno park area possibly?
I own a Scout and a FJ. I would say the FJ dominates as it travels much better to this area on the highway compared to a squirrely jeep and more then held its own on the trail. Advantage FJ. Mine is a 2010 and It beats my Scout, and my scout is much better at freeway speed then most jeeps prior to 2000.
Also, this jeep looks to not be too stock. The FJ did look to be pretty stock. Let's get a stock sport wrangler out there and see what is what
Can't compare an FJ with a TJ, let's see how the FJ compares to a JK
Looked like the tires on the jeep are a lot bigger,
Bring the fj40 here!!!??!
Is that Deschutes National forest 🌳 🤔 I’m from bend and I see you guys are from Oregón LETS FJ hmu 😢😢😢
Hey I live in Oregon.. where is this?
Edison
Had 07 FJ. It was good. Now have 05 TJ. I agree that FJ is probably more reliable but I love the TJ and fact I can go topless in summer. Toyota was kind of boring.
Toyota please bring back the FJ Cruiser please 🙏
how can a fj cruiser be better than a live axle 4 coil sprung jeep ,every time i go off road and a fj is in the group we call it the 3 wheeler ,always got 1 wheel off the ground !
Is that good or bad lol
@@brunorios6 BAD
A TJ could out wheel an FJ anyday. SOLID AXLE enough said.
Wrangler n FJ is no comparison, wrangler should b compared with 70 series Land Cruiser that too in diesel. 11:37
Can the FJ keep up with the wrangler? That’s why the FJ is in the front. 😂
Both Great vehicles!
No one who has owned a jeep and switched to fj will ever say the jeep is better.
Toyota just built better
Jeep for the win!
The question should be can the FJ keep up with the wrangler!!!
