I agree with what you are saying when it comes to the workflow feeling inhibited. I am a full time commercial photographer and the Pentax 645z is one of my main cameras. It took a while to get used to the much slower speed but after shooting it over and over again you start to change your shooting speed to adapt and the payoff is fantastic. Images that don’t look like every canon shooter and dynamic range that it out of this world. With maybe 6 months on this camera you would have loved it as much as you want to! The first few months with the Pentax felt like I had my foot on the brake and gas at the same time if you know what I mean. It just takes time!

That's very well said, and I agree.

Absolutely love my 50R. 50 megapixel GFX is such a sweet spot. The 100MP bodies are amazing, but for most of us hobbyists not printing huge, way overkill. Affordable digital medium format is everything.

I'm right there with you! 50MP is the perfect sweet spot for sure!

Thanks for the video! I really enjoyed how you’re talking about your experiences with the camera. It’s rare to find reviews by people who know what they’re talking about 😃I am on the edge of getting a GFX 50 s II but my style of shooting is kind of slow lately and I wouldn’t get one if I didn’t have a camera for run&gun situations.

Im right on the edge with you! Thinking of picking up a GFX 50S as well. Thank you for the kind words and I'm so glad you enjoyed it!

Really great video and insights ! I’m currently deciding between the 50S II and a7R IV. I’d really like to get into medium format and my personal workflow is pretty slow so I don’t think the autofocus on the 50S II would be too much of a hinderance for me so I might have to go for it.

      Same here, using A7C and deciding b/w the 50S II & A7R V

What did you end up going with?

I understand your perspective. After researching, it's clear that the color and depth offered by Fuji are exceptional. Additionally, the sharpness of all GF lenses is impressive. As for autofocus, many of the most iconic journalistic photos were captured with the Canon 5D Mark II, which has a slower focus and is more challenging to adjust than Fuji GFX 50s II.

Do you think the GFX 100 II in terms of autofocus, would be viable to shoot the kind of work you do? I know it's not going to be like a Canon/Sony, but I've been doing weddings and events with a Fuji X-T3, tbh the autofocus is enough for me to work with it, I imagine the new GFX even being a medium format, has a much better autofocus now than the GFX 50S, also there might be a new GFX this year, less expensive but probably with the same level of AF from the gfx 100 ii

The 100 II is the first GFX that feels like a dslr...like a Canon 5D and that's not a slight. Using single point or zone focusing without auto eye detect, in good light, the AF is very assertive. Turn on auto eye detect and it can get confused with multiple subjects or switching between eyes. Shoot in low light and AF slows down and misses more. So despite shooting more frames per second, in terms of how responsive the camera is as a system it really does remind me of a 5D/5DII with full frame AF coverage. It's actually better...but not 5D3 better.

Lovely shots. I bought this last week and the resolution is killer when zooming in.

So its only for photo? Thanks for the info, but Fuji seems to disagree because there is this movie / still twist knob. Would be fair if companies started being more honest for what their cameras can be used.

Yup, shooting with GFX feels like shooting with my old original 5D :-) I do feel that the slowing down is in a good way though. GFX100S is allegedly way better with the AF since if has phase detect based autofocus.

Ugh I would LOVE to try out the 100s. That just seems like a very logical move.

Ironic. I've owned the 50S, 50R, 100S, and now the 100 II and...I feel like the 100 II is the one that feels like a Canon 5D/5DII. Previous models just felt "sluggish" to me in overall performance.

I came here to see if there was a cheaper alternative for the gfx 100ii, and then you started saying, "This is not a video camera." Seems like a sick photo camera, though! 😂

Is the AF still slow after the last firmware?

    • @MikeLikesChannel
      @MikeLikesChannel หลายเดือนก่อน

Aside from the Mark ii 100’s…. you’re not gonna find super fast AF from the 50MP Fuji GFXs. Not for action/sports/birds, but for people/things/travel? mmmm yummy
