- panakarkandu or panam kalkandu is also called as palm sugar candy or rock candy in English. panang kalkandu milk is a healthy beverage prepared from milk and palm sugar candy. Palm sugar is a natural sweetener and rich in nutrients and unrefined. which also has lower glycemic index then compared to other sweetener like white sugar.this panang kalkandu is made from the Palmyra sap which is extracted from the flower of Palmyra palm. this is also good for treating dry cough & sore throat and cold. Till now I thought if palm sugar or palm candy added with milk when it's boiling hotwill turn to curd like and cannot be taken ..so l use to cool it... 😀
