I don't care for the lesson. I just came here to listen to his awesome shittalking. Could listen to him talk like that all day. It's great. I love you, Satchel.
+Chloroform Congo I believe what you meant to say was "I don't care about the lesson", to "not care for something" means you actually dislike it. You're welcome.
Satchel is actually a great guitar player and hilarious. Plus his point about playing out of key notes then landing back in key is spot on--that's how guys like Steve Vai do it, they add "wrong notes" for accent purposes
I am still astounded at how many people don't realise that Satchel and the rest of Steel Panther are characters. He's a character that happens to an unbelievable guitarist. And they actually end up playing some incredible music!
How to play bass: Learn where all 12 notes are located on the E and A strings. Play straight eighth notes or quarter notes. Whole note for epic effect.
"Usually when you hear notes that heavy it sounds like grrrrrrrr!!! rahrrrrrrr!!!!". That was more than laugh out loud. My stomach hurts from laughing at that.
PGeorge61 listen you old fart... "Kids these days" would show grown ups respect if they showed us respect the golden rule treat others the way u want to be treated just because you guys are adulds didn't mean we should automatically respect u....btw the more u guys hate the music we like these days the more we are gonna listen to it plane and simple.
Was your outfit stolen from Vince Neal as well? Seriously though. I clicked on this video because the main pic for it looked so retro 80's I felt like I was back in high school. Also, I was surprised to hear just how metal you sound for a dude who looks so 80's. Anyway, I love the Kramer with the D-tuna. I used to have a Kramer Striker back in the 80's myself and it was one of the best guitars I've ever owned, outside of my Charvel. I've never heard of you but you sound awesome just the same.
I like how when he talks about theory and actually starts talking like a teacher and not like hes dumb, he starts saying stupid stuff to counter it haha.
Shaved nipples, check. Shaved armpits, check again. Bad ass Will Ferrell meets Dr Roxo (of Metalocalypse) sense of humor, yep. Wig, yes. Sweet assed Kramer, fukyabro. "But the lixx man...How are his guitar lixx?". Well....they're pretty bitchin'. Eat your heart out George Lynch.
Well I hope he'd have the lixx... Being roomies and co guitar player with Paul Gilbert at the Musician's Institute... Teaching at MI... Playing with Halford in the 90's... Being in the Atomic Punks, one of the 2 most hard core VH tribute bands... Those are all ingredients for a pretty badass guitar player...
ambrooks5 What, by singing rude songs, introducing the sheltered students to porn and alcohol, and turning everyone into junkies? If I was the head master, I'd retire and let him take my place.
"I'm not a mathematician, that's why I play guitar in a heavy metal band." ---- Ain't that the truth.
"Usually when you hear notes this heavy it's like UURAGH!!"
That made my day.
I don't care for the lesson. I just came here to listen to his awesome shittalking. Could listen to him talk like that all day. It's great. I love you, Satchel.

Alot of players do that. It's a very well known trick. it's huge in blues. Blues scales actually have sharp notes integrated within them.
Eric Johnson Pretty sure Carlos Santana does the same thing, it's tricky though. You gotta know which bad notes make good notes!
I am still astounded at how many people don't realise that Satchel and the rest of Steel Panther are characters. He's a character that happens to an unbelievable guitarist. And they actually end up playing some incredible music!
This is like spinal tap incarnate. This is the most perfect shit ever. God bless this man.
Tom O'Brien you... I like you.
LOL!!! Thanks.
All kids should learn to play guitar from Satchel. His words of "wisdom" are priceless.
Give this man a reality show!
man... Satchel is so underrated in so many ways, from a guitarist to a human being. This dude... life goals man.
That tone is bitchin'.
Can we get Bass lessons from Lexxi? Please.
Satchel plays for him on the records, so that would be the same guy :3
Hikkikomoru oooh, actually Lexxi has some serious chops. Prior to Steel Panther he played on a record with Satchel called "The Ducks".
How to play bass: Learn where all 12 notes are located on the E and A strings. Play straight eighth notes or quarter notes. Whole note for epic effect.
This guy rules!!! Best guitar entertainment ever!!!!!
"Usually when you hear notes that heavy it sounds like grrrrrrrr!!! rahrrrrrrr!!!!". That was more than laugh out loud. My stomach hurts from laughing at that.
Instant fan! That was hilarious and a damn good lesson. I hope Spinal Tap and Steel Panther tour.
Best guitar advices ever... allways land on a "good note"
Am I the only one who thinks Satchel looks a little like Ben Stiller?
Holy fucking shit. I see it. Mind = Kurt Cobain.
More like Bruce Campbell
+Capn' Pants whoooooooaoaaaaaaaaaaa
... With Will Farrell attitude and confidence.
reminds me of Mac from always sunny in Philadelphia
For all the great comedy, these videos are really instructional. Learn a lot from these. Thanks for making learning so much fun.
I love Panther and all that but Russ legit has the best vibrato, there's something about it that's just mm
Agreed, the vibrato is spot on - his general tone is perfect for the genre as well.
Great riff. Best entertainment I had all day - keep it up. Rock lives!
How do people not know that it's a joke?
right steel panther is a parody 80s metal band and its funny because they do a spot on impersonation of the bands in that era
79jcandy thyre basicly spinal tap come to life
Because they are plebeians.
Because kids these days know everything, and have no respect for anyone, even themselves. Fuck ' em!
PGeorge61 listen you old fart... 03:18 "It's pretty close to being in tune no matter where i am", LOL.
"You went out and downloaded it for free. Well, guess what? That's pretty badass!" Hilarious.
Bring this series back!!
Satchel should live eternally!
I can't tell if it's the amp or the pickups or what, but that set-up sounds incredible.
This guy and metal Mike are the only reason I'm still subbed lol
Satchel needs his own guitar show
LOL! "I can be in France and do that!"
Russ is AWESOME!!! Loved his stuff with Halford!!!
These videos are the best.
Awesome as always satchel
Yay he's back
Damn this guy reminds me of someone.. His mannerisms and how he speaks. I just can't picture who it is..
Ben stiller
Paul Rudd of Heavy Metal!!!!
There's a little dent to the right of the pickup switch. Is there a story to that?
Drop C# though, love this riff
coolest teacher ever
This riff is so fun to play!!
Someone tell me please what's that turning thing in the floyd rose, I need it, now!
It's a really cool riff! I feel all young again and want to grow a mullet!
You fucking rock Russ! I'll gladly pay for your music.
*"Well guess what. That's pretty badass, dude."*
That's a sweet guitar. Looks like my Van Halen one almost. That one has the pull out tuner as well :)
I love how stupid he acts, his act is solid! Seriously though, I want to attend one of his classes at MI bad.
It wouldn't suprise me. Micheal (his singer) and Satchel were doing Van Halen tribute gigs in the mid 80's.
Ratt had a couple songs in drop Db too. You're In Love, Lay It Down, and I think Lack of Communication.
Agreed
What kind of amps were used in this? Drop d and drop c are my fave tunings.
lmao luv this. Although sometimes I wish these artists spoke a little bit more about their equipment and settings in their columns. Thatd be awesome
5:19 cc devilles entire philosophy
What's that silver thing under his Floyd?
3:00 made me cry laughing.
Is he actually in Bakersfield? I live down the street from downtown.
BIGxBOSSxx1 Burbank, but dont go hunting ma boy down.
It's the EVH Drop Tuna. It allows switching to drop D instantly.
80's hair bands remind me of yoga instructors in terms of dress choice haha
Love these vids
which is the model of this kramer?!?!? :D
Satchel's Dtuna isn't set up right. :o
This man and I speak the exact same way and say the same funny stupid stuff. I wish I picked up a guitar in my teens instead of my late 20s.
I wanna hear his sound without the delay & reverb. I bet that tone is really killer!!
Thanks for the lick, love the Wonder woman hair do.
Does anyone one know what guitar he is playing?
I wish he would have put the drop tube feature on his charvel
Satchel, you f'kin rule man! BTW: I'm gonna steal all your lines and use them as pick-up lines.
Dude has a monster for tone
either way , satchel would be famous . as a comediant or as a fucking awesome guitar player
If the album was out, a lot of what he says would make sense xD
This guy is amazing xDD
bought the record in vinyl in yellow/orange it awesome
I didn't know it was December already. My calendar must be wrong.
Best teacher!
Dec 2013? A lesson from.. The FUTURE!? XD

Satchel cracks me up every time....hahaha....I love the Kramer as well...nice tune!
oh yeah, I actually remember the 80s and the look is legit

I'm so gangsta I didn't even steal it
That's the gangsta attitude you need to succeed in this world
🤘
This guy is hilarious and the song is raw!
Satchel is so educational lol
Randy Leon He should be a high school music teacher, lol. He would be fired the first day 😂
ambrooks5 What, by singing rude songs, introducing the sheltered students to porn and alcohol, and turning everyone into junkies? If I was the head master, I'd retire and let him take my place.
Dude. I'm tellin' George about his Kramer !
As a big Panther fan I don't like this riff, but I'm sure the whole record it's gonna be killer.
Funny guy! Great work! Keep on rocking!!! :D
Steel Panther is just Awesome
3:00 is my favorite part!!! :))
haha "just out and steal it"
I have learned so much music theory from this guy, I'm fucking scared and amazed by that fact 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱
Sick riff
if this guy wasnt a musician he'd be a perfect actor
That's funny as dude lol Thanks. I'm going to get my free guitar now :)
Hahaha "I could be in France and do that" !
The entire spot about stealing was comedy gold
