I voted also. Ardnamurchan for best value whisky. Hard one on the best blended whisky. My vote was macleans nose. Thompson bros are very good aswell. Cheers.
For me, all of these categories absent one were very competitive. I could have easily chosen two or three of the nominees. The best non-malt was the exception: Jack Daniels Barrel Proof is both delicious and well priced ✅
I did my voting, in the categories that were relevant to me. Best value: Craigellachie 13, Best Scotch whisky: Benromach CS, Best distillery: Ardnamurchan, Best independent: Cadenhead's Cheers
I'd vote for: Best Value - Ledaig 10 Best non-malt - Redbreast cask strength Best Distillery - glen scotia (I know nobody else will agree with me, but I've enjoyed their stuff the most this year) best scotch - Bunna 12 cask
In the US, Springbank and Killkerran pricing is a no go, literally double what the UK sees. Can't vote for either ever until that is resolved. Big issue with both Blended Whisky and Blended Malt categories. No real choices for me - the Blended Whisky literally only one available here, the Blended Malt two are available but the one is far more expensive than the UK and not a real choice. To me, that's the one area that needs to improve in the nominations - in the less popular categories, more available choices that aren't just the UK hype.
Exactly, and it's not an easy thing to correct. You want more people to make more nominations, but how do you do that when there is no market for the product under discussion??
i admit i havnt tried any of these nominees, but also theyre still not on my radar because they just seem too middle of the road standard to be interesting. a lot of the "value" stuff isn't really that cheap, so if i'm going to splurge on expensive stuff then these aren't very unique to feel special either. it's like when a movie tries to appeal to everyone it ends up appealing to nobody. lots of people will say these are all good i'm sure, but i doubt very many people's absolute favorite whisky are on these lists.
@@_fwd_racecar_ very much a popularity contest. More than 800 people added their selection. The list comes from those selected. AGREE. Value is not what it used to be. Cheers

@@sugarkitty4777 good feedback. I think they are trying to improve every year.
agreed, especially since scotch does make their money on export, i cant take them seriously if theyre not even available in the united states

Just FYI: Torabhaig sounds something like 'Tor-a-vague'...
