You cannot imagine how helpful this was thanks a lot. My instructor is always telling me why are you not changing and sometimes saying I'm changing when it's not safe.. it's because I find it hard to decide when it's safe or not, and hard for me to judge speed of the vehicle as well. This will help in my first assessment I hope.
ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS CHECK YOUR BLINDSPOT!!!! Do this by quickly looking over your shoulder out the windows behind you, or the backseat windows. You will be counted off a lot for this if you don’t do it on your driver’s test! It’s also very dangerous not to check.
What I do is check my blindspot and then check my side mirror. I’ve heard that once you see both headlights of the car of the lane you want to turn to then it is safe to do so so that’s what I do
If the distance between you and the car is shortening as your driving and you are relatively close then don’t change lanes and wait to pass But if there’s a safe enough distance and the distance between you and the car is not increasing then indicate, wait a couple of seconds and move into the lane but do it quickly as going slow just causes more problems (This is advice mainly for motorways rather than typical roads)
Can we switch lanes if a Big Truck behind is maintaining same speed & almost fully covers both the 1st and 2nd quadrants? Scenario is that I am driving already at the speed limit and so I cannot accelarate & switch lanes.
@@Driving101-uk6ec I'm glad you can agree. This video complicates a simple process for newer drivers. If a car is behind you, they should be noticing that the car is _behind_ them, not "in the 1st quadrant." Quick decisions are needed, and implicit road sense is faster and more reliable than calculating your next decision by splitting your mirror into quadrants. But most importantly, if the mirrors are adjusted inadequately, using a system like this can lead to dangerous results.
check your blindspot, indicate 3 seconds before changing lanes, then slowly change lanes so you give the other driver enough time to react and slow down
Yes, you do that if you’re in a 3 lane road or more, coz car coming from far lane may go to the lane you wanted to go, that is not visible to your side mirror.
Heres a more simple way to do it which i learned Look in the mirror, and if the in the mirror is catching up to you fast, then dont go, let the car pass you, and then go behind thst car. If youre confident in your car and your driving, you can accelerate yourself and quickly change, just dont cut anyone off. Also, use the blind spot monitoring system, or if your car doesnt have that, look outside of your rear window and check if a car is there.
ive had my license since May and i was never taught to look over my shoulder. I was always a fast learner but Im just now learning that checking over the shoulder is more reliable than completely trusting your mirrors 😭 i feel ignorant for not figuring that out sooner 🤦

Excellent
The driving coach instructed me to look out of the right rear window.
You can do that as well. It all depends on comfort and what you are capable of doing
I always say you should at least see both of their headlights to know this is the safe distance to change lane
What should I do if the car was in the 4th quadrant?
Hope God is happy with you.
