We do not have a responsibility to build social housing for anyone who happens to role up on our shores legally or illegally. The legal ones should have the means to pay for their own housing and the illegal ones should be on the first boat out of Britain.

If British people did the jobs that legal migrants are brought in to do, then we wouldn't need high immigration. Wages are too low and as an example, it's difficult to get British people to work in the care system. There are huge numbers of working-age British people. who for various reasons are not working.

High immigration was not kicked off for economic reasons, it was so the Cultural Marxists in the Bliar Government could 'rub the Right's noses in diversity' and create a new voting block. Through the following decades big business got fat on surplus labour, suppression of wages, and property portfolios increased in value as demand rapidly outstripped supply. Who do you think did the jobs British people 'won't do' before they kicked off mass-migration? Hint: BRITISH PEOPLE. You're literally looking at a consequence of mass-migration and acting like it was a cause, then using it as a justification for more of the same, which will only increase the issues it's already causing! I know from first hand experience about housing in Britain. I am a disable Army veteran who served for 30 years which included operational tours abroad. I tried albeit unsuccessfully to get council housing, social housing incorporating the Veterans Charter. It got to the point where my wife and I were going to be made homeless. We now live in an enforced exile in Romania where my wife has relatives. I see daily immigrants, refugees being given houses, apartments without reservation. It makes me feel and think what did I do wrong, I served my country, I worked hard all my life and yet, thrown onto the scrap heap without a second thought. So sad really

The waiting list for social housing (council housing) had always been based on the length of time you were on the list. Apart from a few exceptions like disabilities etc.
It was fair and easy to understand. Those at the top of the list had been waiting the longest. If someone who couldn't speak a word of English got a home before a tax payer who had been waiting years, people could spot that they were being cheated by the scumbags (councillors) who are paid to work for the tax payers.
So Labour changed it to a complicated arbitrary points system. Now a new arrival can get a nice affordable home and if an ex-serviceman complains, well it's the points system.

This started in the 1990's here in Portsmouth. I know it for a fact, because I worked for the Portsmouth council (where bullying staff was rife), and my supervisor had been on the housing list for about 6 years. I went with her down to the housing department. She asked where she was on the list, as she urgently needed to move. She was told she'd been put to the bottom of the list. "Why" my friend asked. "Because foreigners have been given priority" she was told. That was 1999. "Why" my friend asked. "Because the government wants to house them urgently" she was told. The housing woman was as disgusted as us. She was my supervisor's friend, otherwise, they weren't allowed to divulge that information.

I was told upon moving in that after 1 year I would be “boosted” up the list in order to acquire a larger more liveable property such as a 1 bedroom property. 3 years later I am still on the exact same list and haven’t moved up at all. I work 2 jobs 60 hours per week earning roughly just over the British average wage, I’ve never missed a single payment for rent, council tax, gas or electric, as well as running a car all on my own, I am at the end of my wages every single month, I couldn’t afford to privately rent even if I wanted too, I couldn’t even dream of buying a property either, as a British born and raised citizen how on earth am I expected to live at this point? Yet they wonder why mental health is plummeting year on year, my neighbours are all foreign alcoholics who don’t work and have parties every single night atleast. I have NO issue with foreigners I really enjoy meeting people from different backgrounds and finding out the similarities/differences in our upbringing or day to day life. We have too many British people who won't do the jobs that legal migrants are brought in to do. We wouldn't need legal immigration if we got half of them back to work. A higher-paid economy which doesn't benefit the elites and global institutions would help. All aided by the Government.

He is confident because he has researched the area under discussion and he is very persuasive because of this. He believes in the value of the nation state and he understands, crucially, the we are first and foremost, citizens of this country not the world.

The fertility rate in the UK is about 1.6 children per woman, the replacement rate is just over 2 children per woman.
In the absence of net immigration, the population would be falling and so would demand for housing.
Rents and monthly mortgage payments would be falling in real terms.
But instead we stoke immigration, with a net figure of 700 000 last year,
so that *more than 2000 new homes are needed every day of the year*
No wonder there is a housing crisis.

It’s very simple. All we need to tell any immigrant who wishes to live here, is that It’s either yes or no depending on whether or not there is a sustainable housing stock available to accommodate them without causing a problem for the indigenous population who are also looking for affordable housing themselves. Until that is fully implemented and any resentment that is caused by the feeling that any newcomers are given preferential treatment over the existing British population, this problem will only continue getting worse and worse, and just from a demographic standpoint, a far more desperate and dangerous situation than we’ve been willing to acknowledge !

The answer is not to build houses in line with immigration but to lower immigration and give British nationals priority when it comes to social housing as Goodwin states. Not only is this based on fairness but it will also deter low skilled immigrants. Increasing the housing stock by the required levels also means more roads and other buildings being built to support an ever increasing population. This will have an even greater negative impact on Britain including more flooding, more traffic jams, more sewage spilling out into our rivers and water shortages. It will also mean a greater loss of farm land and so more food will need to be imported. Not only does this make us more dependent on other nations for our food, but we can't monitor the quality of our food so easily nor animal welfare, and our food will be less fresh, and it's bad for the environment.

The government wouldn’t be paying to build Council Hosing, they have no money but what they get off the British Tax Payer. As the British people would be the ones financing the build, they should be the ones to benefit whether the homes are built for sale or rental. We need a moratorium on immigration for at least 5 years, so that this issue can be sorted out. After that a cap of no more than 50K per year, with migrants/immigrants not being able to get on the council housing lists for at least 10 years. In late 1999, I looked at many houses in the Derby area (where I was working at the time) A nice Victorian terraced house could be bought for £20,000 to £25,000...Two years later, due to me approaching 40 years of age and conscious that I would struggle to get a 25 year mortgage after that. I again looked at the areas I had surveyed just two years earlier... I was staggered to find the cheapest house was now about £120,000+. I just could not believe it... In the end I could not afford anything in Derby and ended up in the cheapest area of Burton Upon Trent (where I remain) At least in a few years, the mortgage will be paid off. For youngsters I now work with in Burton, there is little hope they can save the deposit needed for even a house in the shitiest area of town! What has driven house prices up? DEMAND FOR HOUSING!...A demand that started in 1997 with immigration rocketing from around 30,000 per year to over 300,000 per year and sustained for over 25 years!
