What differentiates Talarico from other umbrella makers such as Maglia Francesco and Fox Umbrellas?
Unlike Maglia Francesco which is an umbrella making company, Talarico is just one man working by himself in a small alley in the Spanish district of Naples, Italy. This tiny shop has been handmaking luxury umbrellas since the 1860's, relying on the same techniques the family has been using for generations.
Every umbrella is one-of-one, ensuring that you have an umbrella that exclusive and unique to you.
Some of the details:
-mother of pearl button closures
-all Talarico umbrellas use horn tipping
features an unshaven shaft handle
-rosetta and ribs are covered in the same canopy fabric
hand carved animal handles
hand pounded collar to help conceal the joint from the horn handle to the shaft.

Hi Kirby, I bought my wife a Talarico umbrella from Christmas as her cheap ones keep breaking.
We're by no means wealthy but I believe in buying quality goods that will last a lifetime. I'm blown away with the quality & craftsmanship. Okay, it cost close to £300 & many people will think that is excessive for an umbrella. But adding up the cost of all the cheap broken umbrellas, it's probably around the same cost.

My last name :) I was googling pictures for my quarantine pub quiz and came across this. Don't get me wrong, these are great umbrellas, but I had always been told my ancestors were great rulers. I guess we all were hahaha. I love your dedication to good umbrellas, Kirby, it's very admirable.

I found shoulder yoke that has similar shapes to the umbrella handle can fit great on the trick scooters I love. But my craftsmanship is in the very beginning. Thanks for making this video it was very informative.

Fox makes an incredible umbrella. I've visited their workshop and they are top-rate. However, Fox certainly makes a very "British" umbrella. Super-high quality but very conservative. With the Italian makers, you are able to get a little more "sprezza"!

Yes and Brigg have some silk canopies.
I have bought two brigg umbrella and I am living in UK know! The rib of both my brigg umbrella were somehow bend by the high wind in UK! Am I the only one who think that swine adeney brigg is not suitable for UK weather ?😂
@@liuminyang8649 In extreme British weather and very high winds no umbrella is worth using to be honest, but for the average rainy day or constant downpour in Britain, perfect!

I love these umbrellas. I just wish he did not use extremely cheap nylon for his canopies. The cheap material takes away some prestige away for me. Having said that, I love mine.
Jacob Kauffman We have some exceptional woven polyester canopies. We have poly-cotton canopies from Maglia Francesco.
