Andrew is EASILY the most effortless Spider-Man of the three. Tobie had the better Peter, imo. Tom probably has the best high-school era Spider-Man appearance and is a truly excellent "early days" Spider-Man. The weird "disconnect" for me is that Tom's Spider-Man literally fought a battle of universe-wide apocalyptic proportions against an alien overlord before leaving high school. It's hard to sort of... "level up" from there in terms of intensity. I think that's why FFH and NWH both focused more on Peter's internal struggles and less about his actual physical struggles. Who could possibly be more menacing than Thanos? Like imagine he walks up to some criminals in the 4th movie and just says "Dude, I kicked Thanos in the face. Do you REALLY want this fight?"

Spider-Man is meant to be a tormented character, he's never meant to be truly happy, not for long anyway... he's suppose to show us what it's like to suffer impossible tragedies, while still somehow finding hope to keep going... That's why Spider-Man will forever be the easiest superhero for any normal person to resonate with, because he's the epitome of a broken tragic normal guy handed one of the most wonderful gifts, but still continues to suffer loss after loss, while still fighting on and not giving up... People's houses burn down, people lose their jobs, people lose loved one's to tragedy, and we feel hopeless and sorrow to such an immense level that we can't even imagine how we begin to rebuild, and that's where Spider-Man is inspiring, because in the face of such tragedies, he finds the courage, or his peers surround him and help him muster the strength to keep going, because the world needs a Spider-Man... In the same breathe, the world needs us... we may not even realize it, it doesn't have to be a loved one, it could just be a barista who sells us our daily coffee, or the gas station attendant we chat with every other day on the way to work... you never know who may need you, or with a moment of kindness, how much of an effect you can have on a person's life... some people may be teetering on the edge of oblivion and you may not even realize that a kind word or an uplifting conversation may be exactly what they need to keep going... It's hard because I've dealt with depressions for most of my life, so I know better than anybody how some people, without ever knowing, can have a monumental effect on you in your darkest moments... So be like Spider-Man, fight the darkness... even if you feel like you have no purpose, you may very well be the superhero to talk someone down from the ledge one day, and you won't even know it...

He's had good and bad things happen to him but he appreciates everything he's been given throughout his journey. ASM #500 proves this when Peter talks to Uncle Ben again. Peter knows why bad things happen because he puts himself at the center of danger. Amazing Fantasy #1000 shows this as well. THAT is TASM3 movie we want to see. Raw emotion of him being in that mindset. Full of rage, bitter, not pulling his punches. Heartbroken that he lost Gwen, or at least give us flash backs to these scenes in TASM3 after he gets the symbiote suit. That would be amazing.
Powerful scene but what really got to me was when he saved M.J. and his face right after: he was happy that she was safe, he was vindicated having redeemed himself actually pulling off the save and at the same time it was like twisting a dagger in his own back: "WHY couldn't you have done that way before, Peter?!?😢"
Just the idea of being able to hug another one of yourself is quite beautiful indeed. No one knows what another person is TRULY going through but themselves, so absolute trust and understanding is achieved in meeting them.
One other thing that I believe Tobey, Andrew & Tom share is their ability to portray strong emotions of grief and sorrow in Spidey/Peter's character. Fans know how unlucky and devastating Spider-man's life can be, but these actors made the losses feel oh so heavy (props to writers & directors as well)
No way home have us way more than we were expecting. Interconnecting all spiderman stories was a masterstoke. Giving closure to Tobey’s spiderman with doc oc and others… andrew’s closure and then them saving Tom’s spidey from turning into that dark phase that they went into specially when Tobey stopped Tom from killing… brilliance! Absolute Masterpiece
Tbh we need Andrew reprise his role for third The Amazing Spider-Man. The key moment of Spider-Man is how relatable he is to a reader. Yeah, he has superpowers and highly intelligent, but also he has same problems as we do: run out of money, constant distances with his close ones, failers after failers, nothing goes his way. And despite all of it he doesn't give up, he keeps fighting, he keeps hoping. Life always hits him hard he always back up. And now I fell like we need Andrew to make that for us. Show how his Peter despite everything doesn't quit. We need him to inspire us, young adults. I hope Sony or Marvel will find a perfect script for Andrew and he'll make it for us. We need him to inspire us
This movie was so cathartic for life long spiderman fans. And having grown up with the films, taking my son to see this one was truly a special moment for me.
Took my girl to see No Way Home on my second viewing, and she had never seen Andrew's Spidey movies. When we walked out of the theater she was like "So his movies aren't that good? He came in and stole the show"
What was great was they weren't just there to say hi and punch the green goblin, there was an actual story reason with Peter needing guidance in his loneliest moment to not enter the darkness. So you got the example of a positive hero in Tobey, and then the darker example of Garfield who's somewhat gone down a dark path. It's maybe like a little kid about to be an adult and he's got the example of a healthy, well-to-do brother but also one who maybe struggles with addiction or his mental health and is finding his way.
Let's not forget Tobey Peter went through insane darkness as well. Thus far, he's the only Peter who's had to deal with Venom. Unlike Andrew Peter who had the rage develop naturally out of grief, Tobey Peter had it brought out of him by Venom. So you have Tobey Peter who has dealt with darkness and evil and come out the other side, you have Andrew Peter who is still dealing with grief-induced-rage but recognizes it and the need to do better, and you have Tom Peter who is just entering it. I see Tobey Peter as the Peter that both Andrew and Tom need, the Peter that is proof that there is light at the end of the proverbial tunnel. The writing is so brilliant in this movie because Tobey and Tom help Andrew as much as Tobey and Andrew help Tom. Tobey reaffirms that there is a light waiting for Andrew at the end of his journey and that he's not the bad, evil man he thinks he is while Tom affords Andrew the catharsis and redemption he so desperately needs to begin his journey truly back to the light in MJ. Two Peters were saved in this movie while the third almost died to achieve it. I love that they treated Tobey's Peter as the one Peter who actually truly, finally, understood the lesson of, "With Great Power, There Must Also Come Great Responsibility" and he spends the movie teaching that lesson to both Andrew and Tom.
Every mentor other than Uncle Ben and Aunt May each Pete Parker has had in the films before this has been a villain. It was nice to hear advice from someone older than him who is on the good side now.
"Hopefully we can remember this strange dream we had together", I love that, I am a community theater level actor and i treasure that time of shared dream, whether it was in rehearsal, performance, off stage hanging out with cast and crew compatriots and in treasured memory. Thank you Mr. Garfield, for your art and person.
When he says about stopping pulling his punches, it’s a really hidden brutality. Because it’s never really made clear in any of the Spider-Man films just how strong he is and what would happen if he properly punches and doesn’t hold back. He is insanely strong. And hitting a person without pulling his punch would be Saw levels of nasty!
Spider-Man is one of my favorite superheroes and the reason I started liking comics. This scene is one of those scenes that really speaks to the character and how much he goes through, and what it’s like to be Spider-Man. Some people just watch MCU, but real comic fans know that Spider-Man is extremely strong and pulls his punches to like a quarter of what he can actually do. So to have Andrew Garfield’s version, say he stopped pulling his punches after Gwen’s death and going 100%…..It was scary to think about, but also gut wrenching cause you realize how hard it must be to have that power and more importantly, how much he was damaged after losing her…..Even in the comics when Doc Ock and Spidey switch bodies, he says he respects Spider-Man more after realizing how much he actually had and how he holds back when fighting cause he’s genuinely a good person…..Awesome acting Andrew Garfield🙌🏾🔥

I have no issue with Tobey Maguire or Tom Holland, but there's something about Andrew Garfield that makes him so likable. He seems very humble and passionate about his work. I think he sets himself apart from the typical Hollywood star. Plus, he's a phenomenal actor!
It is insane how it seems more people are now interested in seeing more Andrew as Spidey than Tom. I want to seem them both in separate films personally, but it does feel like Andrew's Spidey needs more resolution than Tobey or Tom's versions (their Peters at least seem somewhat content by the end of NWH).
I made the mistake of watching this movie on release in a theatre full of fans so the quiet emotional scenes were ruined by all the people talking about how sad it was throughout the whole scene.
Please, please, please Sony: use Andrew for your Sony Cinematic Universe. The new Ultimate Spider-Man comic has shown that audiences are more excited for a mature, adult Spider-Man than yet another rehash of his younger years. It can work!
Andrew stole every scene he was in with the two other Peter Parkers. I always knew he was the better actor, but I never thought it would be that obvious
Never forget how powerful the writing can be. And when an actor ALLOWS THEMSELVES TO BE VULNERABLE in lieu of putting on some type of phony, machismo charade... yup, that's how films like "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" are born. And yes, "No Way Home" had some genuine moments which transcended the general one-liner, snarky quips which were often a Marvel-CU trademark.
He didn't carry it. Tom Holland and Willem Defoe did. Andrew did well in his scenes, but the emotional weight of the film in total is ABSOLUTELY NOT ON HIM. Silly to say that of a guest star.

Endgame, Now Way Home, and Deadpool and Wolverine sure did have a lot of fan-service, but damn, was it done right. Marvel finally brought their holy trilogy together (MCU, Spider-Verse, FoX-Men). Imagine telling fans 10 years ago in 2014 that we’d see all these characters crossover into the MCU, right down to Chris Evans playing Cap AND Torch. I still can’t believe we got all 3 Spideys with most of their villains in one movie with Daredevil, let alone an extended cut. Say what you want about the MCU now, but we really have been spoiled over the years. Thanks Marvel.
I feel like if we would of got a Tasm 3 movie THIS scene would of hit sooo much more. Because in that movie we could have seen, how he became rageful an bitter towards his enemies. Especially how depressed he was after she died. But it still was an amazing scene.

I have no issue with Tobey Maguire or Tom Holland, but there's something about Andrew Garfield that makes him so likable. He seems very humble and passionate about his work. I think he sets himself apart from the typical Hollywood star.
Plus, he's a phenomenal actor!
It is insane how it seems more people are now interested in seeing more Andrew as Spidey than Tom. I want to seem them both in separate films personally, but it does feel like Andrew's Spidey needs more resolution than Tobey or Tom's versions (their Peters at least seem somewhat content by the end of NWH).

I made the mistake of watching this movie on release in a theatre full of fans so the quiet emotional scenes were ruined by all the people talking about how sad it was throughout the whole scene.

Never forget how powerful the writing can be. And when an actor ALLOWS THEMSELVES TO BE VULNERABLE in lieu of putting on some type of phony, machismo charade... yup, that's how films like "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" are born. And yes, "No Way Home" had some genuine moments which transcended the general one-liner, snarky quips which were often a Marvel-CU trademark.
I love them all, but garfield is still my favorite peter/spider-man.

He didn't carry it. Tom Holland and Willem Defoe did. Andrew did well in his scenes, but the emotional weight of the film in total is ABSOLUTELY NOT ON HIM. Silly to say that of a guest star.

Endgame, Now Way Home, and Deadpool and Wolverine sure did have a lot of fan-service, but damn, was it done right. Marvel finally brought their holy trilogy together (MCU, Spider-Verse, FoX-Men). Imagine telling fans 10 years ago in 2014 that we’d see all these characters crossover into the MCU, right down to Chris Evans playing Cap AND Torch. I still can’t believe we got all 3 Spideys with most of their villains in one movie with Daredevil, let alone an extended cut. Say what you want about the MCU now, but we really have been spoiled over the years. Thanks Marvel.
