Thanks for putting this up Michael. Very interesting. I also looked up Angus McKenzie and he was truly a legend of the time

When I went to college if you did not have a receiver in your dorm room to drown out everyone else you could not study. I had a Toshiba SA-850 . Not a bad little receiver. Now I own 3 monsters and love them all. 😊

I have read on so many forums that the Sansui 9090 was the killer receiver of this period. Nice to see the Pioneer, Marantz and Yamaha compaired. I have had a few Yammys over the years and all been a bit dissapointing and never kept one for to long.

    Hello,
I want to build an L-pad attenuator for RCA cables to reduce the signal level by 10 dB. I don’t know the output impedance of my CD player (Pioneer PD-S801), but the input impedance of my amplifier (Pioneer A656) is 50 kΩ. A calculator suggests using resistors with values of over 34 kΩ and 23 kΩ, but I see that I could also use 6.8 kΩ and 3.3 kΩ resistors, and I’m unsure which ones to choose. ChatGPT suggested that using resistors with lower impedance might negatively affect the CD player, and I’m not sure if that’s true. I know that this video isn't connected with this topic but I remember that you helped me once with making attenuator. I also send you mail with data from calculators. Best regards!

Tbh I do not know to much about how to about matching the impedance to Lpads. I did make up an attenuator on someones else calculations and have used it since on all my cd players and amps/receivers and very pleased with it, my video is here th-cam.com/video/KEF6E7OiZxU/w-d-xo.html
