Interesting thing that nobody seems to be talking about: not only is the blocking character different, but the attacking character has a different animation on block. In older games the attacking character would follow through as if it wiffed, even on block (or hit). And I suspect that helps lead to why different block animations were ignored. Here, blocking stops legs and arms in a more physical way. I can’t tell if they have the same thing on hit, but it would make sense for certain attacks. But changing attacker animations on block would go a long way to creating a more physical interaction.
I believe this concept was made 50% made by AI at least There's no way blocking and dodging will look like this in the actual gameplay, it has to be so hard to do for every character, every move, every posibility.
It's just a few seconds. If they can't do it by themselves then the developer studio is worth nothing. SEGA has to offer gamers something new to amaze people, to make them buy their game, to make it great again. I didn't show a lot of other games with complex guard animation. It has a long history, no one just cared before. I've never even noticed such moves. Now they visually emphasized it, like it's all you see in the concept video. On the other hand guard moves we have now look much more realistic. So maybe it pointless. Anyway, they need to attract people somehow. And this idea is not bad.
It looks like a mini game sequence to me minus the on screen prompts. Something that can be activated somehow. We've already seen VFP gameplay so we know it's not going to be like this at its core.
