I thought the most ominous point that Dr. Solomon hadn't mentioned in this interview (maybe it's in another point in the interview) is that if there weren't anyone who was an actual threat to our beliefs, then we would FIND someone or designate someone to be the enemy. That's creppy and really says something about the nature of human destructiveness. (To be fair, though, I can't remember if the idea originated from Becker or Fromm. I get my 'evil' guys confused sometimes ;) )

It was Fromm's Anatomy of Human Destructiveness that set me on this inquiry nearly twenty years ago.

lewie spearman That's quite a long and, I imagine, engaging inquiry.

In a sense we die every night, but we're not anxious of that because we're certain we'll wake up the next day.

My favorite anecdote I heard somewhere is one I spring onto vegetarians when they get all on their high moral horses. " It is a fact that one of those enormous International Harvester Threshers , and corn threshers have a large bin to collect all of the dead animals that are killed by the huge machine covering your Holy Soy Beans in Bloody Gore as well.."

he got me excited when he started talking about animal murder for consumption....then he disparaged his fruitarian sister...and then i read this on his wiki "inventor of the "doughboy", dough filled with cheese, chicken and spices.[citation needed]"
WHy so many supremly intelligent people and acedemics NOT vegan? They just think themselves out it that responcibility to at least attempt to do least harm able....?

The least harm as far as human society goes is Jainism. That’s pretty hard to achieve, though.

You asked somebody to get educated......before most people do this...they put on layers of make-up - buy muscle cars - do everything to get a six-pack...education-although always on sale is the least of their worries.....they need something that everybody sees at first sight.....like a brand new smart phone - something one can acquire instandly....
For education you need time and endurance-these days a rare find...
