@@KuraudoSutoraifu7 it doesn’t really matter if I played the first one or not, I’ve read Steel Ball Run a few times, and OPINION INCOMING -> I think the new voice makes him sound much more realistic, because he’s 48 years old and also running America while also having to worry about competitors of the SBR race trying to find the corpse parts before he does.

@@deistormmods I’ve read the Manga, and all most of the time he’s serious, especially the scene where he betrays Johnny.
Old voice was more expresive and gave more personality to funny Valentine.
While I do agree that the old one was way more energetic, the new voice lines being like this give Funny Valentine a sense of superiority, like "yeah, I don't need my full power to beat you"

I kinda like this new voice, it gives the vibe of early valentine in the manga, him being some guy who doesn't like to get hands on with stuff, a bit pudgy, not lazy or cowardly, but not active either. It gives a sense of laid back ness, someone who doesn't like to fight but is more than capable when pushed to it, but not exactly used to it. He is more of a subpar fighter with an OP ability than a skillful one.
I don't know why they decided to redub Valentine but to keep the ASB audio for Johnny...

Having rewatched this since it came out, the only aspect I really find that I dislike about the revoicing is the first dojyan, it just doesn't sound nearly as playful as the original. Other than that, I don't mind his voice being slightly deeper than before.
The old voice work is just way too iconic at this point. Pretty much every fan video of SBR all these years has used his voice lmao. It's almost like changing Dio's voice work with the same VA, it just doesn't make sense when they totally nailed it originally lmao.
Believe it or not its the same VA but hes just more calm and changed his tone

Of all of the part 7 and 8 characters, I hope this one keeps his voice actor for the anime the most.
Me too but I highly doubt it. I'm just glad the original part 7 and part 8 VAs are reprising their roles again for the game.
I hope so too but seeing the previously non voiced characters (the part 5 and 6 characters), their voices were changed in their animes so I don’t think these voices will have an acception, unless I’m just wrong, which would be great since this Valentine VA is great
@@ChazzyMed07 They replaced all the voice actors from up to part 3. Going into Stone Ocean I knew none of the VAs for ASB wouldn't reprise their role in the anime.
It's possible. Most of the VAs get changed, but there's a few that were kept in the anime adaptations, namely Okuyasu, Akira and Shigechi. If not, well, he already did play another one of our favorite long haired blonde characters in the anime already- Mikitaka!
Honestly I would prefer if they kept Johnny’s most, but valentine is also great and they should probably keep him too
The only reason I like new, is because he is calmer. He truly sounds like someone who is protecting his country, someone who has no doubts in his ideals or actions
They're both good but the old one is better in the "Ultimate Attack" by far.

I'm glad it is the same voice actor. A lot of people thought that just because he already voiced Mikitaka in the anime he won't turn back. Same case with Johnny and Koichi.
What I don't get is why most of the voices sound that weird like this. Part 3 Dio in other games and in the anime sounds great, but in ASBR he sounds like an angry spoiled child.
Well, also Stone Ocean's ENTIRE cast was replaced even though they had no previous experience in JoJo anime (except for Anasui, who was voiced by Bucciarati, and Weather, who's VA was JoJo narrator), so that probably kinda made people afraid that the whole SBR cast will be replaced; but actually Abbacchio's actor was used earlier as Terrence T. D'Arby, so I guess it is possible for old actors to return in new roles. I don't really care about SBR cast as long as Valentine stays and I also prefer the new Stone Ocean cast, especially Anasui and Weather. I love narrator's and Bucciarati's voices, but the new ones sounds waaay better
Funny Valentine is the best no matter his voice direction! Og has that energy, but new redub kinda mellows it out which honestly fits Funny too.
First of, I'm not someone who's gonna hate everything that's new but I'm literally mad about this one, Valentine is one of my favorite characters and idk how they managed to ruin him so hard even with the fact that's the same voice actor as original. Hope they do it right When it comes for future SBR anime adaptation

Hopefully they also keep him Pink. I liked how the Pink man got a Blue stand and the Blue man got a Pink stand, to me it really felt like duality of character design like the ying-yang.

I'm fine with all the new voicelines, but the old GHA was just so much better. I love hearing him go "KOERIO MOGAI" or whatever in his super energetic voice.
I'll chalk it up to poor direction in R, especially since it's the same VA and he also killed it in EOH
Unpopular opinion - I prefer the new recording. He sounds more serious, more like his character in the manga. Valentine was always a deadly serious dude, and I think the new acting reflects that.
He does have his purposely humorous moments, but even when he's getting down to business he has this flamboyance, this extra flare to him that I can imagine him being as expressive as he is in the original ASB. I think both voices work for him.
So I think Johnny and Gyro are the only ones who doesn’t record new voice lines

Some of the new voice lines sound slightly better but some are slightly worse or pretty much similar. The old Dojaan is definitely better tho...

It seems to be more of a directorial decision in the dubbing to differentiate it from his previous work, to give him a more serene voice according to the character's age but I understand that it is also because he aged, in any case probably when the adaptation arrives they will have him combine both types of interpretation.

I agree that the old voice has more energy, but I feel like the new voice fits his character better. He’s regal, he’s the president, and he’s calm and calculated. I feel like his new voice portrays that better.
