    A special mini with modifications that were available late 1980's, ie deseamed body on 1/4 panels but ordinary dashboard and interior. The engine bay has a couple of bolt on improvements too. Very nice job.

    Nice work as usual. Instrument bezels are always difficult to paint and I can recommend a Molotow Chrome pen which I use for this; it is real chrome paint and looks very good.

    Outstanding as always - I was fascinated by the flocking, I've not seen that product before and will definitely have to get some. Have you considered using a static grass applicator to apply it? I wonder if that would give you an even more uniform finish, although it came out perfectly in your model anyway :)

    • @TheScalemodelingChannel
      @TheScalemodelingChannel  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't think it would make the finish or look any better, as far as i'm aware those just make the fibers stand upright, like grass.

    • @tjfSIM
      @tjfSIM 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheScalemodelingChannel Well partly, yes - but it also helps uniformity by attracting the fibers across the whole surface. Industrial flocking (such as for pen cases and other things) is generally applied using a static charge.

    I'm building this kit myself, and I found some of the parts on the black sprout have some pretty ugly mould lines, the radiator was pretty hard to smoothen out nicely, and the front mudguards don't join as smoothly as I would hope. Did you have the same experience?

    Tom, a few questions for you
    1. Whay wheel chair do you use
    2. If you paint some detail by your small brush, how do you prepare it to paint in different color? Do you wash it under running water or use a cup with water or maybe somethting else?
    Cheers for you ;)

  • @stevehoulihan726
    @stevehoulihan726 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I love how you flock. My flocking never turns out that good. I don't think the powder I use is fine enough.

    • @MFKR696
      @MFKR696 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That depends. What kind of problem do you find you're having with it? Do you find that it's not laying down evenly, or does it just look too coarse?

    • @stevehoulihan726
      @stevehoulihan726 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MFKR696 It just doesn't lay down as well as Tom's does. Not as thick or as even. Maybe my Tamiya clear isn't as thick when I paint it on. I use the same shaker (tea strainer) as Tom.

    • @MFKR696
      @MFKR696 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stevehoulihan726 Do you allow your clear time to tack up before application? If not, that could very well be what your problem is.

    • @stevehoulihan726
      @stevehoulihan726 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MFKR696 No. Tom didn't in this video either. He sprayed on the clear, wheeled his chair to his other bench where he had flocking waiting, sprinkled it on, shook the excess off. Perfect result.
      I think either my powder is too thick or my tea strainer is too fine. I'll keep persevering.
      It also helps to have a similar colour to the flocking down before you do it. Which I didn't do on my current project.

    • @MFKR696
      @MFKR696 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's not hard to do. There are many youtube videos already out there that describe exactly how to set up a parallel lighting circuit in models. Stay away from series-circuits. They're just like an old, cheap set of christmas lights. If one burns out, they all go out. Then look up how to mechanically join and then solder wires together properly, since "cold-soldered" joins will do you no favors. I know that probably sounds condescending, but it's not intended that way. You'd be surprised how many people just have no clue about how to solder smartly, yet they do it anyways. From all of them, you'd think that simply owning a soldering iron means that you know how to solder, but you cannot buy skills.
      But yeah... Point is, there's lots of videos already out there that'll be right up your alley as to getting that idea fleshed out. Don't take my word for it.
