I don't have a belt grinder. Hopefully one day. I restored my dad's 2.5lbs lump hammer and had to do all the work with hand files and hand sanding. It took longer than I thought it would.
Wonderful work! A hammer is a very practical tool, but your knowledge & hard work have turned it from an ugly duckling into a swan...a practical tool & a work of art all in one...good job!
I was thinking the exact same thing, a parting tool would have made it more uniform in a percentage of the time as well as using the lathe for cleaning up the hammer head with the sand paper strips.
@@jasoncarpenter4116 I thought about it a bit. Maybe he did it to help maintain the old look about the tool. Perhaps to give it a hand made touch of character. That is the only reason I can think of anyway.
I like to extend that question by 2 more: 1) Why he cuts the excessive metal on the back of the hammer on grinder, when he could cut it on lathe, as he did rounding at the first place; 2) Why he use a anglegrinder to make round back, when he could do that on lathe with a simple handmade tool. Every 3 of these steps could be better on lathe.
That hammer head has a very simple and effective design. Made from round bar makes it easier to machine and the almost square hole for the handle could be easily made on a milling machine or even with a drill press patience and some files. The restored hammer looks great
I really love all the work you've put into this, awesome. Was a pleasure to see the changes and everything. But it would have been great to get more information about what you've used (e.g. the grid of the sandpaper), why which step is done (e.g. the heating of the head) etc. As a person not being familiar with this type of work it would help to understand the whole process.
Fabulous hand work and finishing touches on this save, Koss! Loved you putting in the lathe but curious why you didn't just turn it around and finish the other end instead of grinding it? Haven't used the Blu Gel/paste in a long time but it sure worked for this application! Also liked the ferrule wedge which gave it a nice finished look! Well Done and Thanks for all your great tips and wonderful builds and saves!!
WONDERFUL, I have no words, always super perfect and unique precise product, wonderful work and video, well done and good luck, respect from old BG. p.s. It is a great pleasure for me to see that there are such precise people in the world, and that of the White race!!!
OOOOOH a new video from a master of his craft. I've just started watching and I'm already enjoying it! Thank you for your work. P.S. someday I will buy your product!!
Forgot to add the piston rings. Not going to get good compression. Very fun style born out of the originals geometry. I think you let it lead you, arriving at that look.
Dude ur so cool you are the guy that makes other people want to do this cool stuff btw what do you do with your finished project’s

Honestly 80% of this work could have been done on the lathe, like there's no need to touch it up before running it and all that sanding too

A very nice restoration, no talking, no ads. A perfect video. Thanks.
Good my friend I'm happy to watching your videos thank you
Love the black and silver design. Nice work as usual. Thumbs up
Really enjoy watching a master at work. Well done Sir 👏
Stunning. I dropped the volume here and played my EDM jams in the background. They fit perfect. but I do love this hammer.
Wonderful work! A hammer is a very practical tool, but your knowledge & hard work have turned it from an ugly duckling into a swan...a practical tool & a work of art all in one...good job!
There’s something about a restored hammer head that I absolutely love. Great work!
thank you
Very creative and cool change to traditional hammer restore

Question: why hand cut the 3 lines with a rotory tool instead of cutting them in with your lathe?

Exactly what I was thinking too, but I wasn’t going to ask haha

It’s probs just to switch it up. I love writing with pens, but sometimes I just want to write with a pencil for the hell of it
Cool hammer, glad you didn’t burn the handle. 👍
Super elegant, which is not something usually said about hammers
Design by hand?! That's impressive & respectable
Nicely restored Koss well done
That is the coolest looking hammer I have ever seen! I'd be afraid to use it after a clean-up like that!
Top class restoration
U showed u can do it . and change the face of old into new born hammer 💯👍💪
Another beatiful work

Amazing... elegant... impressive.!!!!
Beautiful restoration good job well done
I would call this upcycling instead of restoration. Nice job.
Amazing restoration! Your projects turn out awesome!
Awesome result dude 👏👏👏. Real sweet finish on that. 😎
Absolutely magnificent work! Thanks for sharing!
wow ,never seen such design ,futuristic :D
Beautiful hammer!

Impressive job bro 🤩💫👍
Great work. Woulda loved to seen the handle be burnt. Woulda gave it more character
Cool my friend... Cool.
Good job
Nice
Very impresive. Looks too good to be used.
Better thor's hammer that i did hahaha joke, nice hammer and nice work😁
thanks
Great skills man
Forgot to add the piston rings. Not going to get good compression. Very fun style born out of the originals geometry. I think you let it lead you, arriving at that look.
Thats actually a chisel but still an interesting remake really rather than restoration, I am all for re using old steel to make something new.
Beauty!
it became a new bravo. moni that the grooves instead of a dremel you put it in lathe with the cutter you did it
Excelente recuperação de martelo antigo. Muito bom trabalho e muito bom vídeo. Parabéns.
I don’t know if you’ve done it before but I’d love to see you make a silverware set
Meu deus q maravilhoso maquinifico! Q maravilha !!!!!!!
I guess my only question is. Why didn't you use the lathe to do the dremil work? I do love what you did though.
Cool but how to use such a neat tool for its purpose without pain...
Wonderfull
07:06 Why would you do this by hand with a Dremel and not on the lathe?
I have 3 questions about using instrumentary, but in fact the outcome is good.
Wow 😮
Why didn't you make the decorative grooves in the lathe?
Mantaaaaap
Profi !!!
Nice work but it’s not a restoration it’s a beautification
Maestrazo !!!
Hummer by Porsche design 😁
hmm old round hammer ... I wish there would be some sort of machine that would suits this time of metal work ... oh well lets do it by hand then
Wow
Old hammer made from air hammer tip
👍👍👍
👍
