    I simmer ~1" chunks for several hours. When the tea is dark, then I will strain it. The chunks are then easy to break into smaller pieces for the next time I make tea. I always put in a bowl and leave in the oven to dry after each time I use them. Three, maybe four simmers before they are no longer leaching in to the tea.

    Or buy an ice crushed blender and use that. Makes a very fine powder and keeps all dust inside.

    Good try used a meat grander the hand one the big one whit the plate of 3/8 inch hole
    But you need to brake it in about 1 inch pieces
