I mean admittedly i didnt read much more than halfway through the manga, but wasnt the idea to make contact with the thing the organization was hiding, not destroy it completely? It wasnt exactly shown to be able to effectively control its firepower, and as such couldnt afford to fire on the headquarters, though that was more my interpretation than anything else.
ccorrect me if i am wrong on that, I completely forget. its been a long time.

In the original anime Ramiel was basically drilling into the NERV base and all the fire power such as blasting around death lasers was mostly a defensive or predictive defense type thing. On the rebuild movies Ramiel was depicted being quite accurate with its aim though. It had reached a position above the base very early on so all it was firing was its surrounding anyway.
And the thingy they were hiding was like kilometer underground on top of that behind a ton of plating (Which Ramiel was trying to drill through)

I think it was absolutely uneffective to try to blow everything that lies between Ramiel and Dogma, because even mountain did not melt away entirely, the ground just would melt away, dissipating the energy, not counting a kilometres worth of super protective layers that you would need to destroy that way.
The point is: you don't need to blast the whole wall with nuke just to go to other side, sometimes it's enough to drill just one hole in it.

It's made with Chromapper and a few hours of trying things out. It was the first time just toying with the BTS environment.
It's actually a bit longer and improved from then but i'm trying to make it a bit more "special" before it gets released.
