So I'm actually a data science major currently and I live in Hillenbrand. If you applied to the Data Mine you are guaranteed residency in Hillenbrand. If you applied to a separate learning community, you are most likely going to stay in another residence hall listed in whatever your learning community requires.
Everyone is very friendly at Hillie. But in general, the people are Purdue are very approachable and welcoming. Of course there will always be those who keep their doors closed, but as long as you make an effort to go out and make friends, your experience at Hillie will be a great start to your college career. :)
is it less likely for a freshman like myself to get put in a bigger dorm w/ a shared bathroom in hillie than it is for any of the upperclassmen?? bc i feel like i would like these dorms better opposed to the other smaller ones, but i wasn’t sure if it was likely for a freshman to get shared bathrooms right off the bat
@@brynnoros7937 yeah yeah no stress tho because most of the other residence halls r pretty nice from what I’ve seen the little months I’ve stayed here :)
i think getting an extra trash bin would be really nice since you would be sharing a bathroom with 3 other ppl :). unless one of you guys are willing to give up a trash can for the bathroom.
depends on what you're looking for! hillenbrand has bigger dorm rooms and currently has a study lounge in the basement where it's really quiet and great for doing hw. I believe they change it up every semester, so i'm not sure if they're gonna keep it. It's the farthest away from campus though, so if you're down for a longer walk to class everyday this won't really be a problem. earhart has smaller rooms but a really spacious common area which is great for group meetups and also has an on-the-go on the first floor (which I really like). i ended up in hillenbrand because of datamine (which requires you to live there), but all in all it depends on what you're looking for in your dorm experience. :)
Thanks for the video GZY!
:)
Does the bathroom door lock, I didn't see a lock in the video
yes the bathroom locks from the inside :)
@@garboworld7053 thank you for letting me know:)
Do bathrooms get cleaned?
yes, they get cleaned every week by a cleaning lady :)
Do you have any idea over what dorms the data science major students get assigned to (learning community)?

I might be coming to Hillenbrand as a freshman next year. Is it easy to make friends their as a freshman or does everyone keep their doors closed?

Does Hillenbrand have standard AC doubles?

@@garboworld7053 Great, thanks!
Can you enter the other room through the bathroom?

Do you think Hillenbrand is better than Earhart?

Is the cell service as bad as people say?
I haven't noticed much of a difference, but you definitely have worse connection in the elevators and basement.
You share a bathroom with another room with 2 other students correct? And do you guys have laundry in your Hall?
Yes! So 4 people share a bathroom and the laundry is in the basement :)
