BlunderCity Wow a mathematician in the government. I wish I could say that about my country, but at best we have are probably engineers or business majors, while the majority are even more uneducated.
It stuns me how eccentric he is. Hipsters have nothing on this guy. Great mathematician as well.
I like this man. He's so passionate about mathematics, and he seems to have maintained a sense of wonder about not only his field but also the world around him. Great video :)

I love his intermittent nods to himself. He gives off an air of having thought through exactly what he wants to say and meaning it with his whole heart.
His book is so fantastic, It's filled with stories and anecdotes. It's not just "How I got a Fields Medal" it's more a glimpse of Mathematicians world, how do they works, how do they communicate with each other who are some amous mathematicians and why are they famous... it's a great book

Cédric Villani is one of the few people who inspire me to pursue on the road of mathematics. to know that there are people out there who are living their passion, which is also my passion, just feels extraordinary. I always love it when he talks.
I love seeing some flashy scientists like this man. They're my favorites. And the way he speaks of mathematics is just charming.
I like this kind of video, showing how successful people live, how they introduce their world to people

Attended a public lecture by Cédric Villani last week, the experience was mesmerizing. The ease with which he explained his field of work to everyone was laudable. He's admirably humble for someone so accomplished

Prof. Villani is such the perfect archetype of the eccentric genius that it he seems more of a character than a real person.

It is really beautiful to see these videos,as well as the other channels(sixty symbols,periodic videos,computerphile).I see people full of wonder about what they do.They took things that most people in our society find boring and found the magic that is contained within them.This year I will begin studying to become a physicist.I hope that the fire that burns within me,the thirst for knowledge and the feeling of wonder that I get when learning about these beautiful sciences never leaves me,I hope that one day I will be just a percentage as successful as the men and women in your videos.Thank you for making all these videos.

+Antimony For the long answer, listen to all of the Hello Internet podcast. For the short answer, CGP Grey likes minimalism for where he lives and works, as he thinks that "stuff" is a distraction.
stuff often just becomes part of the environment if you dont think about the stuff to much. Stuff becomes walls and floors.
This man came to my uni while I was a freshman. Love his passion for mathematics. He made me love math even though it wasn't my major.
He spoke in one of my most favorite TED Talks videos. He has so much passion for math, it is beautiful.

My Office's full of circuits, cables, disk drives, two computers And LOTS of CDs. Seeing this many things boosts my creativity
He has a very characteristic appearance as well as accent. He has a large and mythical collection, including a set of currently inanimate superspiders. His surname is a thinly veiled anagram for villain. People, this is actually the one. This is real life's Final Boss.
This makes me feel so warm and fuzzy.
I found this to be quite interesting. We each have our own way of working, and it's interesting to see how others organise themselves. For me, that kind of environment would be distracting, whereas for others it's a source of inspiration and a memory-jogger.
Much more sympatic than the last video i have seen from Cedric Villani ;)

Oh I remember him from his Tedtalk! I watched a video of it, great talk man.
I had the opportunity with another 100 students to hear him give us a conference on his works right after he won the Fields medal, kinda overwhelming :)

Help please Numberphile: Where is the video where Cedric shows off his spider collection!? Footage from it is present at the end of this video, but the annotation only takes you to a playlist with 2 videos, of 'The Mathematician's Office' and 'The Fields Medal', but neither contain the spider footage. Am I missing something?

Often you can tell the state of a person's mind by how they keep their work space. I see a mind here full of many different topics, all at the ready to be explored.

I began listening to Cathrine Ribeiro after reading his book, 'Birth of a Theorem'. Haha... Also, I'll never forget Faa di Bruno's formula because of his book also. Great thinker. :P
