I was shocked when I saw that. And I liked it. They just beat into each other. FYI it was my first wrestling show I attended.
Seth should come in at number 1 and then be standing there all getting ready for the next guy and then boom deans music hits and they tear the everliving crap out of each other to start the match off

when demolition was #1 and #2, there was nothing at stake. the WM main even didn’t become a thing until 1993 when yokozuna did it
well in theory.. 1) they are suppose to want to win every match to make themselves look better... 2) supposedly the winner would get payed more.. 3) there would still be bragging rights to saying "i won the royal rumble" i mean they still talk about who won 20+ years ago sometimes, especially around this time of year... so actual fame, not even just kayfabe.

Lexington Deville84 it was the first Ppv I ever had on vhs, the I quit match was amazing and I just love the rumble. I know it was over top but I just have a soft spot for it
That Rumble was one huge continuous storyline between Stone Cold & Vince McMahon. Only two other moments stuck out during that Rumble and that was Mabel joining the Ministry of Darkness and Kane eliminating himself.
But I still watch it for the sole fact of all the wrestlers from the attitude era 🔥

I played it back twice to make sure...he said 1989 but said it really weird but then capped it off by saying "Shocker in the late 90s" getting his decades mixed up haha

I remember being a kid and watching Demolition starting the Rumble, and thought it was the coolest thing.
Especially since it didn't really mean much since it was only the 2nd Rumble and the winner didn't get a title shot..

Here here. I was freaking out when that happened. Demolition was one of my favorites.
Back then, it was still a spectacle and fun to watch even without a title match as an incentive. I loved Demolition and watching them fight eachother, even for only 2 minutes, was cool to me.

I do love the Chris Benoit and Randy Orton one mainly because they would both end the year by being champions Chris winning it at WrestleMania then 4 month later Randy winning it from him at summer slam it all stared here though

Looking back on the 95 Royal Rumble, I didn't even remember Bulldog was #2. Guess Simon's observation was correct, as always.
Jeff Hardy and Bull Buchanan in 2001 was by far the most entertaining first 2 mins of any rumble. They actually had great chemistry.
