Did by any chance you make a video of how you built your set up and what size pump you use and how many times a day it comes on and for how long thanks Scott
This video shows a man taking advantage of his good lady's tolerance of agricultural equipment in the home. There is also a tremendous dewlap featured, not on the man, on a rabbit. There is also an INCREDIBLE zoom in of a baby rabbit eating at 2:11, worth a look.
I've seen some people add bleach to their water because they say you can get mold in the fodder. have you ever had a problem with mold? Did you build the rack for your trays, and do you have instructions how you built it?
Enjoyed your video I am studying everything I can before getytng started with rabbits. I'm in the Philippines, hoping to get started in a couple months. Plan on growing most of my food. Your set is great hope to ser more stuff from you here.
Does feeding just this one type of food as a main food source give the rabbits the full nutrients they need? I always thought that the rabbits need thier daily diet to be about 70-75% hay. Especially for thier teeth. If they are eating mostly barley grass how do they keep thier teeth from overgrowing? I have pet rabbits for about 4 years now but I'm always interested in learning more. I'd love to hear from you. Thanks for posting
What is the timers duration .? Like whats the interval of water flowing through the seed ?? N is it good for angora rabbits ?? My rabbits r brough to city from mountain so they r not happy with the dry diet as there where having amazing green stuff there n the worst part is 3 of then full growns r dead n its killing me
Did you grow them without soil? Its damn helpful Edit- I grew them without soil and they turned out really awesome took sometime but it happened really worked💯
Nice work, starting a rabbit colony next year and I've just started looking at vids for growing food for them and this is great, cheap and easy to build. I already have the grow lights from years of growing plants, the rest looks easy to get.
Absolutely awesome, thank you for the video and explanation and ingenuity! Just got a few rabbits today and will definitely be doing something like this! I'm not sure if your aware so I want to mention it. If you have chickens, then look into black soldier fly larvae farming, I am going to build a system for this over the weekend and probably implement your system sometime shortly after. The black soldier fly larvae eat rabbit poop so you can profit off of selling the larvae, or feeding them to your chickens or fish.
I tried this a few years ago but sounds that only one tray had matured and the tray that did mature ended up getting mold and maggots in it. What did I do wrong? I believe I just had a batch of old seed. I'm willing to try again with new seed but I no longer have the setup that I used.
@@GettinJunkDone why did you stop this system? I'm looking to do the same thing you're doing and was going you could tell me the dimensions of that set up in the video. How tall was it, how much space between the pipes that the trays sit on and how deep and wide was the whole thing?
Hey I know it's a year old video but I have a question please reply. How many Hours and how many times do you have to water the trays? I would be so grateful
Good question. There is plenty of info available online for similar setups. It's been quite some time since we had this in operation, but from what I remember is that we ran it on a timer scheduled a few times a day for 5 to 10 minutes. It would clog every so often so I checked on it every day when I took the fodder out to feed the rabbits. It was plenty healthy and easy to do, but it required daily attention.
+Greg Johnston I'm not sure of the flow rate but it's stronger than it needs to be. The rate is actually bottle necked by the PVC pipes at the top. I run a few times a day for about 5 minutes.
Hi, I'm from New Jersey. I'm not sure what the going rate is, being that it's not available in most grocery stores. I've seen in in one butcher shop and it was $7.99 a lb. Hope that helps!
Awesome setup Joe. I wonder if you could apply the same technique/setup to growing microgreens or other vegetables. Unless you're going the route of a hothouse/greenhouse at the homestead. Just a thought. :)
I'm a fan of New Zealand white for a few reasons but really it depends on what your needs are. For me, the New Zealands are easier to come by for stocking purposes than the California's and they tend to grow just a pound or two heaver. Some processing plants like Pel-Freez will buy New Zealand's only. If you are homesteading and are breeding them for your use only, you may also like Flemish Giants which grow bigger than all the rest but require more food. You may also like the Chinchilla which is not only a great meat source but the pelt is very profitable. I personally keep it simple because the majority of meat I raise is to feed dogs, bones fur and all. I feed dogs a mixture of rabbit, fish and chicken (1/3 - 1/3 - 1/3) daily for 90 dogs so I go through a ton of rabbits. I currently keep no less than 70 does and 5 bucks for my needs. All the extras go to Pel-Freez and make for some pretty good side hustle cash. I've often thought about selling them myself on-line however because rabbit meat prices are very high right now. If only there was more time in the day... story of my life.

All it’s need is sun and it’s much more nutritious

How many rabbits does it feed and how big are your trays? Do you have any written plans for the system?
you can easily add guinea pigs as well. they eat the same thing and are also classified as farm/meat animals.
That is a clever suggestion. Thanks!
Fantastic. I need help. I have been doing this but mine grow mold or mildew. Can you help me with bvb this. Thank's lis

Hello thanks à lot
For how long did you use the same watter please?
Wow the rabbit is very nice 🙂🙂🙂🙂
Perfect sir..please can you tell me the cost of barley per tray?
I haven't had this set up in a number of years, but I can tell you that buying the barley in bulk will help bring the costs down.
Use t 5 8 bank light and grow even faster put light sideways works better

Yes...u can...saying so as i have several bunnies with me..u can watch them in beautiful life@bunnies! Aha!!
What is the intervals of the pump to water the grains. Or how often do you water the system.
