The greatest of them ALL!!!!!!!!!!! Better than that over-powering Aussie, whose only good trait was that she could sing loud.. and CERTAINLY better than that bed-hopping Greek that had such a horrible wobble she would vibrate off a stage into the orchestra pit !
Nunofirdambiznez: If you wish to grossly and unfairly insult Joan Sutherland and Maria Callas but lack the balls, backbone or brains to honestly identify them then your insipid and puerile comment about their (in)abilities should be dismissed unless you wish to apply the same standard to Beverly Sills as a singer. She had an increasingly shrill and thin tone of a limited range. Due to overuse or pushing the voice into roles that wore her voice down, she developed a vibrato that could be described more accurately as a wobble, she provided little enjoyment to listeners based on the beauty or sound of her voice. That is not s statement that could be made about Sutherland or Callas in all honesty. Perhaps because she had no financial concerns due to her husband’s financial resources there was no need to plan for a career to last thirty years or more. I did hear Sills on the MET tour as THAIS and her voice was worn without much vocal allure; perhaps that is why she acted the role the same way. However, on TH-cam there is a television program where she sang the Willow Song from the BALLAD OF BABY DOE and it was beautiful. However her voice didn’t stay that way for reasons I explained. Part of her appeal in the US was Rudolf Bing’s petty refusal to invite her to sing at the MET because her participation for the New York City Lincoln Ctr. opening with JULIUS CEASER put the MET’s opening ANTHONY AND CLEOPATRA to shame. So she was the underdog and then the tragedy of her handicapped children. None of which makes her a better opera singer but it’s still debatable compared to Sutherland and Callas how she rates despite better diction, a wonderful stage presence, great communication but a shrill wobbly edgy voice.

The fact that you have to denigrate two other PHENOMENAL and LEGENDARY singers, in their own rights, to give a compliment to Bubbles is very telling. She would not have agreed with you and would have said you’re a pompous ass. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
