The intellectual pursuit of God is fruitful in itself especially from the perspective of philosophy coupled with hagiographical texts, for we get to better understand and comprehend otherworldly things about Him and other metaphysical - spiritual - phenomena that are holy and eternal. Let me state, however, that one will never truly understand God’s Essence in this life, but, still, the obtaining of knowledge of our God is a pleasant intellectual pursuit, to use Mill’s way of thinking. That being said, however, one must move beyond mere knowledge and begin to KNOW Him by way of His Word, His Church’s teachings and doctrines, Biblical traditions passed down over the centuries, conversing about Him with others, and - ESPECIALLY - prayer… constant prayer (read: not an exhaustive list lol). Nothing is even remotely tantamount to KNOWing Him in this way. The potentiality of mankind KNOWing God and being connected to Him is always there; if one renders it an actuality, it cannot but lead to a relationship that I wish all could experience for their own Good! Oh, the joy of KNOWing God and finally experiencing Pure and Unadulterated Goodness! For outside of the One True God, nothing is Good; only God is Good. Even Plato admitted the existence of Goodness’ Form, though he admitted that He did not know Its identity, yet Jesus clearly stated that only God is Good and that He is the Most High! May our God be ever praised! None of us are perfect, but through KNOWing the Most High as revealed by the Lord Jesus, we are continually sanctified by Him until the day when we shall see Him and receive our Beatific vision!
