Great sequel and I'm glad we even got to see more of Paul Reisers Jeffrey character. In the first movie he's literally only in the beginning of it if I remember correctly. I LMAO in this movie where he calls inspector Todd waking him up and he poses as an FBI law enforcement agent over the phone using a southern accent.
Awesome and hilarious sequel to the Original! This time, Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy) comes back along with Billy (Judge Reinhold) and John (John Ashton) to stop an evil mastermind, Maxwell Dent (Jürgen Prochnow) and his lover, Karla Fry (Brigitte Nielsen) for shooting Police Captain Andrew Bogomil (Ronny Cox) and are part of the "Alphabet Crimes". Nonstop action and loads of laughs! Tony Scott did an excellent job directing it, he will be missed!
Great sequel. The scene where Jeffrey calls inspector Todd waking him up and poses as an FBI agent over the phone using a southern accent had me LMAO. I'm glad we got to see more of him and inspector Todd in this one. In the first movie Jeffrey and Todd don't have alot of screen time and I'm glad they did in this movie.
My favorite scene in Beverly HIlls Cop 2 is when they go to the gun club, and Axel has to get pass the secretary, so he takes Judge Reinhold's vitamins and pretends that he's a guy who goes all delivering explosives, and that Judge Reinhold's vitamins are a bag of explosives that are sound sequenced, so if you cough, sneeze, fart, burp, or talk on the phone, they'll go off, and then when the secretary gives him permission to go into the guy's office, he's like: "OK look, I had a friend named: 'Bootisie' who got killed doing something like this, so I'm not gonna do it." And then he's like: "WHAT'S IN IT FOR ME?! I HAVE TWO BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTERS! MONIQUE AND UNIQUE!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT'S IN IT FOR ME? YOU'RE ASKING ME TO RISK MY LIFE, WHAT AM I GONNA GET OUT OF THIS???????????!!!!!!!!!!!" So she gives him all of her money, and then he almost sneezes and he's like: "Oh, we almost got fucked, didn't we?" And then he's going into the guy's office, and he's like: "Shoe money for my kids. I'm just doing this for my kids. This is the same way Bootsy got killed." And then once he gets into the guy's office, he throws the vitamins into the trash, and then later when he comes out, Judge Reinhold's like: "Where are my vitamins?" And then Axel gives him the money the secretary gave him, and he's like: "Here, buy some new ones, and meet me at my house in an hour." And Judge Reinhold's like: "What did he do? Sell them!" That's my favorite scene in the whole movie is that whole vitamin sequence. I just love that about Axel. I love all of the various lies he'll make up just to trick people into letting him go into places.
@@OcpCommunications Then of course, I love the scene before that where he's trying to steal The Anderson's house, so he pretends to be a building inspector, and tricks the construction workers to taking the day off by telling them that they changed their plans. And then once they all leave, he breaks into the house, and claims it as his Uncle's house when John Austin and Judge Reinhold come to see him.
Unlike the first film and the ill-faded third film, Beverly Hills Cop II is the only film in the Beverly Hills Cop trilogy to be shot in CinemaScope (2.39:1 or 2.35:1).
I remember really not liking this movie as a kid. I watched them both recently, and I agree, the second was a lot better in many ways. The biggest flaw, IMO, is following the same plot beats as the first one. Axel goes to BH because a friend is shot, gets involved in a mystery, breaks into some places, puts pieces together, confronts the bad guys who try to have him killed, and has a final showdown. It would have been nice if they switched up the formula, though the mystery in the second film was much better, and the villains motivations made sense. In the first film, they never bothered explaining why a wealthy art dealer would risk going into drug trafficking.
I love all three movies. There's alot of funny moments in this one. It's funny when Jeffrey wakes inspector Todd up calling him and he poses as an FBI law enforcement agent over the phone using a southern accent. 🤣 🤣 🤣 I'm glad we got to see more of Jeffrey and Todd in this whereas in the first movie they didn't have alot of screen time.
Great review. Anyone else notice there was a scene in the trailer that wasn't in the final movie? Stepping over the light beams alarm system. And what the hell went wrong with the third film. It's terrible. Why didn't Taggart appear in it?
That scene is actually a part of the special features on the DVD. If you ask me, it was deleted for a reason it was not that funny and hurt the pacing of the film a bit. And Taggert didn't appear in the third film because of scheduling conflicts with other projects John Ashton was doing. So they just replaced him with Hector Elizondo playing essentially the exact same character...
@@OcpCommunications And I agree with Matt and Efree that that was when the downfall of Eddie Murphy's career began. Because shortly after Beverly Hills Cop 3, he did: "Vampire in Brooklyn"! Which is a lame vampire movie, mainly because Eddie didn't want it to be funny. Because like Beverly Hills Cop 3, he wanted to try and do something different. He wanted to be the villain for one. Which hey, if Eddie wants to be a bad guy, that's cool, but I'm sorry, he's not a very convincing vampire. And I didn't care for his romance with Angela Basset. And the film continues his trend of him playing multiple characters, which started with Coming to America, and while in that movie, I could tolerate his multiple characters, the multiple characters he plays in Vampire in Brooklyn, are rather grating on the nerves. And really the only entertaining thing about that movie is Kadeem Hardison. Mainly because he's essentially the Axel Foley of that movie. He's more of a wisecracker and a trickster in that movie than Eddie is. And I do agree with Matt, that the only funny moment from Eddie is when he tells Kadeem Hardison to be quiet. "SHUT THE FUCK UP! GODDMANIT!" But other than Kadeem Hardison, and that one line from Eddie, like I said before, Vampire in Brooklyn's a lame vampire movie, and I agree with both Matt and Efree in that, it should've just been like The Golden Child, where Eddie's just playing a regular guy, and he ends up in a situation, where he has to deal with vampires, and he defeats them and fights them off using his wit. That would've been an awesome movie, and I would've loved to have seen that! But no, Eddie didn't want the movie to be funny, because he wanted to be the bad guy, but I'm sorry Eddie, I don't buy you as a vampire!!!!!!!!!!!
@@OcpCommunications Great I can't wait! I've no idea how the managed to lose EVERYTHING that made parts 1 & 2 so good. It's like they removed the magic formula that made BHC great. I never forget how disappointed I was in the cinema that day.
Ocp. Greetings from Germany you are very welcome man? This is one of those perfect sequels and to my eyes is BHC II even better than the original including A1 Soundtrack DP edit RIP Tony Scott and George Michael
Great film!!! When this movie came out in 1987 it was a box office hit surpassing $100M very easily at the time... ($20 M budget mind you) making it a hit with the viewers... critics saw it differently... so it was a hit with the moviegoers in 1987... Beverly Hills Cop 3 on the other hand... well... that’s a different story.. can you review Re-Animator (1985)

Yeah, it is bullshit that this movie gets hated nowadays. It deserves better if you ask me, because I honestly think it's a better movie. It's got better villains, it's faster paced, it's funnier, it doesn't drag like the first movie does at points, and in conclusion, I think Beverly Hills Cop 2 is a couple of steps above the first movie. I love this movie. I love Beverly Hills Cop 2. I mean, I can watch the first Beverly Hills Cop, and I can say that I like it, but I love Beverly Hills Cop 2.
