    Skipped the interesting part of setting up the softbox.

      I think we all know how to put on the diffusion. :) Also, the video was running too long. :)

      Not what I mean. I was hoping to see the actual setup. We went from table to already open and installing the light to the fixture.

    Is there some reason you skipped opening up the softbox from its collapsed postion?

      Opens like an umbrella. Pretty self explanatory when you get one.

      @@Ranger7Studios we want to see if you struggle opening the thirty eight, that's the size that begins to give people problems opening it if you leave the diffusion in when opening it.

      At 2:37 you say "Speaking of setup, let me show you how the easiest way to open this thing up", yet you never show us.

    I have the same soft box.
    you skipped the hardest part which opening it. Lol
    It’s very difficult to open and close this soft box.

    • @Ranger7Studios

      It's pretty easy for me to open and close. You might have gotten a dud.

      Ranger 7 Studios this is my second one. First open would not close unless I hit it with a hammer. Second one doesn’t stay open. I have to try so many times in order to get it to stick

    Is there any light you would recommend for a hair light? And a rgb light for the background?
    I plan on using amaran cob 60x for keylight and ez lock soft box

      I would actually recommend a Glow ParaSnap 44 Octa Softbox by easy glow. It's a new lighter easier to set up softbox. There is a review for it on my page. Since switching moving from location to location has been quick and easy. As far as hair lighting, there are a lot of good options out there. The Godox Ml 60 is a good one and can be found for for $180 on Ebay right now.
      Another light (which I have a review coming out soon) is the Nanlite Forenza 60B II. It's a bit more expensive but a very nice light for anyone getting into the professional side of the industry or TH-cam.
      If you are using Aputure as your key, it might be easier to just go with another 60x as your hair light and then grab a p60c from amaran. Like I said there are soooo many options. it all depends on your budget and use case.

      @@Ranger7Studios thanks for the detailed explanation mate. I’m gonna start a channel and want a professional set up and lighting.
      This info helped me a lot on decide what lights to get. I’ll check out your other videos

    where's the part where you open it up? c'mon...

    • @Ranger7Studios

      It opens like an umbrella. I think we all know how those open. ;)

    Kind of weird when you say, "I'm going to show you how easy it is to open this up", at 2:43 and at 2:45 its already built on the ground with the center dome and all. Not a real step by step when you skip the main umbrella part. Also there are 2 ways of putting the center dome, convex or concave. But anyways, just my opinion

    do you always use the reflector/ It seemed to have been brighter to me without it. Also have you found a way to mount a gel to this light. Thanks

    Would loved to have seen correct exposure with the diffusion off. Also would love to have seen the bounce plate in different modes whether on or off and convex and concave positions. Also you skipped opening and closing the unit. Major part of this video.

      It opens like an umbrella. Pretty self explanatory. There is not much difference with the dish either way that I could tell. Not really sure why I didn't bump it to 5600K. Oh well, this is pretty old. Maybe I will do an update video.

      He skipped it because most people have a tough time opening it lol. They’re hard to get into place. I have a feeling he struggled. Also to add to what you said, it would’ve been nice to see color corrected footage of the light instead of flat/log..

    I'm completely confused --- so without the diffusers you said that was at 10% power and with the diffusers and grid you said that was at 100% power. I'm having a hard time believing the diffusion material would require an increase in 90% power to get even less output. Can you clarify that?

    • @shifteleven
      @shifteleven 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can see it. So each cut of 50% is basically a loss of a stop on this light (I'm guessing that's how this light works). So the grid looks to have cut almost 1 stop of light (down to 60%). Then you have the removal of the outer bevel which brought the light down to 15%. So that was a cut of two stops. Then not as much of a light loss from removing the inner bevel. Possibly because the silver dish was in and that was moving light toward the outer walls of the softbox. Lastly, you have the fact that it's silver and parabolic. So with less things in front of it, it should be more efficient at shooting the light rays straight ahead and less bouncing around the room.

    This thing is really cool.... however it seems to be a little wide....the distance from back to front seems rather large and inconveinent, hmmmm... i do like it though....its pretty cool....another great review Steve, thanks...Mike

      This one in particular is for creating a larger light source. They sell all sizes and lengths. It just depends on how you want to shape your light. I'm really loving the ease of this umbrella.

    I thought it was a review???? Where are the pictures? Why he put all diffuser into the softbox? Why not use it as a beauty dish?? Why he did not make pictures?
    I not need someone who read for me the manual

    • @Ranger7Studios
      @Ranger7Studios  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There ARE pictures. in fact, the whole thing is a picture. A moving picture. Also, I have no use for a beauty dish in film making, which this channel and review are about. I'm using this for film, not photography. And it is a review as I am stating my opinion on it.

    How the hell do you close this thing? Some of the ones in the videos have a little thing to push in on the main meta piece but mine does not have that.
