Those of us who enjoyed the 80's as a kid were truly spoiled. GI JOE, HE-MAN, TRANSFORMERS, "Diff'rent Strokes- ("Whatchu' talkin' bout' Williis") 'The A-Team' 'Air-Wolf' the WWF Hulk Hogan, Sgt. Slaughter (see GI JOE) Junk Yard Dog, Tag team The Road Warriors and of course The Ultimate Warrior and then of course all the various lunch boxes and Trapper Keepers Crayola Crayon SHARPENER!!! and on and on I could go!!
      Whoo-hoo thank you nostalgia!

Roth invented the 'Grid System' and the Roadie Reward System. The Grid was for picking the hottest babes from the audience by saying, 'Redhead in black top in (maybe) Grid F7'. The roadie goes out to audience and gives the girl a backstage pass. The 'Roadie Reward' - that might not have been the name they used but it was taking 9 hrs to strip down the stage after shows and it added up to a lot of OT so Roth told them they could partake of the groupies but not until they finished their work. It was taking them 9 hrs to do. After the deal they got it down to around 90 minutes. It's amazing what a little incentive can do. 😂

But surviving the 1970s + '80s in the then safe '70 + '80s? That was a joke right? 😅 I almost thought you were serious. They don't make music like that anymore. I appreciate modern rock bands for sure from soft rock and punk stuff to harder stuff. It's just something about those old 70s/80s bands.

In 80/81 my new neighbor "a cool kid from CA" invited me over to listen to records. He pulled out 3 albums, VH, Animal Magnetism, and Back in Black. Mind blown upon needle touching vinyl. From that afternoon on, Van Halen, the Scorpions, AC/DC, Led Zep, Rush, Pink Floyd, Ozzy, the Stones....etc....kicked Barry Manilow (pretty sure I had an album iirc), to the curb. The fact that Ain't talkin Bout Love and Spirit of the Radio were written in the 70's is hard to believe. I am still trying to learn Subdivisions drum part on my car dash after 40+ yrs.

Look what happened with Motley Crew and Mick Mars, they threw him out! Sammy Hagar is still rocking it, with the former bass of Van Halen, he also has Chad from Chilli Peppers.

I was a teenager in the 80s ( 13 in 1983 ) . It wasn't as great a time as people make it out to be. There were shitty garbage bands/trends etc then too. Nostalgia is very odd.

There's a TH-cam video of Rick Springfield, who is 74, also ripped with a 6 pack, doing legit pull-ups in front of an astonished crowd. Worth checking out.

I agree with a lot that Joe says… but saying DLR was the main thing in Van Halen everyone else was secondary is a complete fools take….Eddie always will be what VH was about and DLR was secondary…
