Thanks for explaining all of this. I get tired of explaining this to people sometimes. It's like taking to a wall sometimes or it's all Chinese to them. Now I can refer them to this video. Thanks Travis
I am glad you said to use a dedicated air hose as 50' seems best. My wall mounted copper air line gets a filter for everything as water comes out my air ratchet does feel good. You need to oil your tools more often and still risk a shorter life. That pressure of 35 psi drops as it passes thru the gun, resulting in 10 psi at the cap as recommend. Great informative video.
@@SYLVESTERSCUSTOMS I didn't have real family to work with growing up. I dad farm chores and built fence and more. They carved up property, 800+ acres, a house with buildings to my little brother and I got nothing. Maybe I should have left the farm at 15, because my brothers & stepfather had to work. It's a cruel world out there as I was discouraged from buying fixing things & buying motorcycles at 9. I told them that doing wheelies was practice for flat front tire on gravel roads. I wonder if any family are around after 49 years?
I agree with nealhill. Thanks for the its always someone's like or dislikes of a particular brand or style. Always a brilliant explanation a great tutorial as usual. And i will take this opportunity to thank you for hooking me up with Ken Sakamoto. You guys are great thanks
Another great Video , I want to add this, when I was spraying 10 cars a day in the 70’s my go to gun was a devilbiss on a 2 quart pressure pot , they work great the gun is in your hand. And the pot is in your other hand. You can turn the gun upside down and walk the length of the rockers etc. plus the fan is huge and they dump paint resulting in a slick finish or the fine line of running the shit out of it. They are great for big trucks tractors or things with alot of angles . I always used a Devilbiss but Binks makes them to.
Hey maestro great video and explanation it’s nice to still learn things from others, it makes you realize there is always room for improvement. May I ask what kind of clear do you recommend to use. Thank you
When your company paying paint ,you will use Sata and Devilbis with explanation that it it is fast and god guns. When you paying paint from your pocket Iwata all the way! When i switch from sata 2000 to Iwata w 400 about 23 years ago it was like switching from medivel mace to japanese katana.Light, precise, saving air and paint, control for blending. And yes, you need separate gun for base coat(separate base coat gun for solid colours would be nice,to avoid metalic flake residue),gun for clear coat, gun for blending agent, and that's only for painting!
Sly - you’re an awesome guy. Aluminum sheet metal of Peterbilt and Freightliner. Tigging up holes that should not be in places. Handles and fairings that need removed and nut sert holes that need welded up and hammered out. O’ yes - and the paint gun sagas ….. The IR gun from Tractor Supply is a good Semi truck gun:) Big Metal gravity can:) It sprayed DuPont nicely:)
@@SYLVESTERSCUSTOMS I guess it shows my age we only had siphon feed guns when I went to school for auto body. I had a tuff time getting a flat finish with these hvlp gravity guns
Hey, I just bought exact same gun you use the anest iwata LS400 supernova, 1.4 and my question is ... I want to use this gun for primer sealer and my TDS sheet says 1.3 or 1.4 tip for the primer sealer I am using. Yes or no?
I would replace it. I got a digital Devilbiss regular. I’ve had it for 3 years and the battery still works. That’s painting about 90 flag hours a week.
Paper towels, Q tips etc that have soaked with acetone, brake clean are a fire hazard. I put the used items in a fire safe container or outside away from the structure. You don’t want your shop to burn down. Just another tip.
I have two, the side fan control and the newest one with rear fan control, I use one for base and the newest one for clear, they both work great I have no complaints.
When i started, it was a Binks #7 or a Devilbiss. Thats pretty much all there was. Now i do more gelcoat than anything else so i buy the cheapest gyn with the biggest tips. When it kicks off in the gun you are not going to get it clean. Toss it.😂

Having a separate gun is not necessary if you don’t have the funds though.

My digital amazon regulator is starting to get eradic. Is that a sign to take it apart and clean it?
No idea

@Ontheroadbrogymgo i have two and i just found like a 10-15psi difference between the two set to the same psi.
Paper towels, Q tips etc that have soaked with acetone, brake clean are a fire hazard. I put the used items in a fire safe container or outside away from the structure. You don’t want your shop to burn down. Just another tip.

Wait... Did you say Itemize paint? That was a slip of the tongue, right? You meant to say Atomize? Or did I hear it wrong?
Guess you are a standard deduction type of guy
@@StevenDemetrius
Yeah I always confuse the two 🤦🏻♂️
@@SYLVESTERSCUSTOMS No worries, your vids are all great and very informative. Thank you!
I thought I heard itemised lol
Atomized* I’m human
and I thought I was cheating, cleaning the gun with brake cleaner
The best!!
