I still recall stumbling upon your 'El Camino de Santiago' video , 5 yrs ago- it was just one long video back then! After that, your videos took over my TV for months. I remember binge-watching your videos nonstop on my TV for months on end. That's how I discovered your amazing hiking content, including the epic Triple Crown of Hiking. Thanks so much, Dixie! And congrats on the new addition to your family - being a mom is an adventure in itself!"
Montana is getting spoiled with all that light pack and light equipment that you've perfected over all these years, Dixie. So glad for you all to share this experience with each other. Montana!! You Can DO it!!
My wife and I at age 70 completed the last 100 kilometers last year, October 5, 2018. Since we're worn out from very active lives we opted to book ahead and have a suitcase with heavy stuff transported, very reasonably priced. We loved the ancient history of the route which goes back way before Christians appropriated the route. Met many friendly Spanish people. Walking a Camino is something the Spanish respect and understand. Our primitive Spanish was appreciated. Biking pilgrims were a minor nuisance. Like Martin Sheen, I'm a "practicing Catholic: practicing to get it right". My wife is agnostic but each of us came away realizing everyones' entire life is a pilgrimage. The Camino was a chapter. For you the triple crowns were lengthy chapters in your life's pilgrimage. Buen Camino
I'll be 60 in January. I hike at least 3 miles every day unless it's raining. I know it's not very far, but it's the every day thing that matters the most. Your videos inspire me to hike more, and for that I thank you!
My heart goes out to that precious guy who had lost his daughter! Lord, be with him and wrap your loving arms around him and help him to heal! My thoughts and prayers are heading out with/before you and Montana, Dixie! Enjoy the Journey, the beautiful scenery, and the History you two are about to experience! My Dad's been to and toured Europe with a Christian music group called The Sound Foundation which was through his college, but has never hiked the Camino!
When my sister and I did the Camino it poured rain the first 7 days or so! It was actually a record rainfall year! I know it can be discouraging, but its so worth the trek and the bonding you two will experience is priceless! Worth every fight and rain drop!
I had forgotten how much fun this series was. Especially because the back and forth between Jessica and Montana. It's priceless. Also the amazing scenery along the way. I wish we could see the sisters on another hike like this one. But this time Montana has to have the right shoes. haha
Dixie, I watched your videos back when I was researching my Camino Frances section hike in 2021. Today I decided to revisit them after having section hiked the Del Norte. I have to say that of all of the Camino videos I appreciate yours the most. You really do capture life on the Camino from a very personal perspective that few others can replicate. And after having my own Camino experience I can also appreciate how special it was to have accomplished such a goal with a loved one. No one better to share that with. I hope that you decide to revisit a Camino one day; perhaps with your family! And if you do I highly recommend the Del Norte! Buen Camino!
Coolest big sister award!! You know you are ruining her on hiking by starting with this, right? Everything else will pale in comparison. Thanks for bringing us along. You ARE a great sister.
And for the father who lost her daughter, Bless his Soul! I lost my wife to cancer a while back so more so I want to make this journey! Thank you, Dixie for sharing all these stories, they're truly inspirational.
It feels so strange to have found your channel because I wanted to see more of the world and now you’re where I grew up! It’s really cool to see it from a visitor’s perspective. I hope the Camino treats you well. As ever, thank you for sharing your travels and letting the world come along for the ride!
I did it in Sept/Oct 2017 and there was very little rain that year. The Pyrenees that you just did is the most mountainous part of the Camino and I think the most scenic. I really liked the next Albergue in Roncesvalles, your next stop. Huge, historic old place. Buen Camino.
I've start following you because once in my life I would hike the PCT and your wanderful videos are inspiring me so much, now It is strange because I follow you on the Camino de Santiago a way I've already hiked in 2012 and 2017. (I've been in Orisson too...Magic!) .Thanks for sharing your experience.
I have wanted to see what the first day to Orrison was like and you documented it perfectly! Thank you, this will come in handy for my future trek! I am looking forward to see the rest of your journey! Such beautiful views! Wow! 😍
Europe never stops to amaze! I enjoyed my time while stationed in Germany. Enjoy it while there, you'll miss it when you leave. Thanks for sharing! Continue to enjoy the hike.
Just found you this last summer, and have been watching back through your CDT and PCT adventures, excited to finally follow you in real time on a new trail!
I realize this Camino hike was 4 years ago...but I just found your video..LOVED IT! I Hiked the Camino Francis in 2013 at age 62. Would love to try again before my days are done. Fingers crossed! I will be following all your adventures. You're a GREAT big sister.❤
Stinging nettles in Europe do seem to be even more bitey! The little hanging bits on the plants is pollen. Have a great adventure! Yes, the rest of the Camino will be very inspirational, very touching...will touch you, every day in every way. Be open and embrace it all. The way is amazing!! Buen Camino peregrinas! I did the Route Frances in 2007. Life changing!!!

So excited to watch your new journey! Went to Spain when I was 16 and have always wanted to go back, this seems like it would be the best way to do it. Enjoy!
Hi. I’ve heard of the Camino for ever and have watched your videos from your Appalachian hike. So look forward to following you and Montana on this journey. Best wishes to you both , safe hiking and enjoy yourselves cause you could be desk bound instead. You hike for you but with your hikes and marvelous videos you hike for all of us. Thanks and be safe. From a big fan in Huntsville.
Fresh off the couch 😂☠️ Hello from Bordeaux! I’m prepping to hike the Camino on Gran Canaria next month. It’s straight up and then straight down a dormant volcano 🌋 Thanks for helping me with my research and prep! Maybe some day I’ll go all the way across Spain… maybe 🤔
This is so cool! My sister-in-law and her brother and his wife are currently doing the same route you two are! They are at around the 300 km mark at the moment. Good luck girls, enjoy your adventure!
I did the Frances 2 years ago and recognized a lot of the places you showed, so nice, great memories! Even the van between Orisson and Roncesvalles, haha. Buen camino!!
How lucky you are to be able to do the Camino with your sister! Love the color of her shoes and sun shirt, which match. I am looking forward to following you on your trek. I wanted to wish you a good camino in Spanish, but auto spell won't let me. Happy Trails.
My camino was also not flat at all :D I recently finished Camino Primitivo and the first half was always going up or down. Up to 700m gain. I never hiked in mountains but we made it and walked up to 34 km per day!
Just a really nice video to watch & experience the Camino. Thank you Dixie. Sorry you found out about stinging nettles the hard way! They sting don’t they?😳
I'm so excited for yall! Especially for Montana, what an amazing trip to take for her first big trip! It's pretty intimidating to get into traveling (especially the thru-hike kind of traveling!) the older you get. She's really lucky to have a sister like you encourage her to take on a trip like this! She may or may not ever want to hike again after lol but at least it will show her all the incredible places she CAN go and show her what's out there. I didn't have that kind of sibling relationship at that age, and it would have made such a big difference!
I’m so excited to follow you on another hike! I’m so bummed I never got to bump into you here in Oregon, but I’ll have to settle for watching your amazing videos. :)
You guys had me laughing the whole video....this is gonna be a fun trip to follow.....your poor little sister is gonna catch you while you’re sleeping and do mean things to you Dixie if you don’t behave....😂😂😂. I think it’s a southern thing...the more you love someone, the more you poke fun at them...at least in my family that’s how it is...
Thank you Dixie for your treatment on a hike. Ironically, I've been planning the Camino Frances for a couple of years myself and then discovered your PCT coverage a few months ago....which has been making me think. Then you do the Camino with your great TH-cam style and made me cheer! Plus I shared with my mother that's thinking about the last 100km and I'd join having started in St. Jean.
I hope you're enjoying Spain Dixie! Get used to the stinging nettle though, it's a very common plant all over Europe. There are some plants that grow near the stinging nettle that help reduce the pain if you get stung. It might be handy to look up some pictures of these just in case.
Have fun and I'm sure Montanna is going to have a great time. So wonderful to see siblings so close. I have many friends atm on quite a few of the different Caminos but if you see two Aussies (one could very well be in a kilt) do say hi! names are Lari and Hedley, they are a few days behind.
Looks like 2 sisters having fun! I'm jealous, there's no way I could ever get one of my brothers to go with me on one of these hikes, nope, they are both firmly planted where they live, with their respective families, I might add!!!!
Great! So glad you got a place in Orisson! One of my faves. Sure is a great way to start the Camino💕. Anytime you get a chance for albergues with communal meals- take it! And after a few weeks of "el menu del dia" or the pilgrims meal- €10 usually- go to a non-peregrino restaurant and enjoy really tasty meals. 🍽. So happy for you two. (It was a year ago this same month I experienced the Camino. Ultrea!)
And just like that you two crossed a border between two countries without any needless hassle. God save the Union...❤️🇪🇺 I hope you will be able to complete many trails here! ❤️
Feels like I've been looking forward to this video for months now, and it didn't disappoint! So glad to finally see what you gals have been going through. That scenery is breath taking, even in the rain. Buen Camino!
Been following your channel for a little while now, I love what you're doing. I'm from Alabama to, near Fort Payne, and they would have thought I WAS Forest Gump. Love it... I've completed this section three times now and you took me straight back there. The Orison is a must for any pilgrim. I know it's only 5 miles, but the whole experience is so worth it and you meet awesome people. Fabulous video! I can't wait for the next one! PS - I will be in Pamplona on 23rd October, walking with a group to Najera - so we won't be far behind you. x
Thank you Daisy!!! So excited when I first learned a bit ago that you & Montana we’re gonna hike the Camino. Hoping to celebrate my 60th on it myself. Always have loved your work and I delight in the bugs, slugs, webs, moths and water drops of morning dew or rain!! Have a wonderful adventure!! Sure miss your adorable doggy!!❤️
I have been waiting on this video! I love your videos Dixie! What an amazing trip for Montana! I can’t wait to see more. This is on my bucket list! As soon as we retire we are headed for the Camino!!
The start of your Camino looks very much like mine did although I hear the downhill into Roncevalles has changed, I cut down through the forest for some amazing pictures in the mist.
Bless the man who lost his daughter. May his journey help him heal. ❤️
Buen Camino Jessica and Montana. I did a section with my sisters last year and it was the most spiritual hike ever.
Hehe it looks like a giant smile on 9:40 😁 by the way how your shoes behave after a rainy day, can you manage to dry for the next day?
So sad for the man who lost his daughter😥

Dixie: Wow! That’s a big pile you put back there!
Montana: I hate you!
robert jeffery 😂😂😂
Dear Montana - on behalf of every younger sibling everywhere, we're counting on you.
Don't get mad - get even.
Definitely need some more sibling banter like this!
robert jeffery There were so many people on that trail, Montana should be happy she found a tree to “go” behind.
I saw Dixie doing it, but then again she is in charge of things.
Loved the “talk to each other” sign in the albergue. Thanks for taking us along on your camino.

Nice moth rescue! A place in heaven for you Dixie.
And for the father who lost her daughter, Bless his Soul! I lost my wife to cancer a while back so more so I want to make this journey! Thank you, Dixie for sharing all these stories, they're truly inspirational.
WoW thanks for sharing your 1st leg with us. Great that you and Montana get to share this experience together.
It feels so strange to have found your channel because I wanted to see more of the world and now you’re where I grew up! It’s really cool to see it from a visitor’s perspective. I hope the Camino treats you well. As ever, thank you for sharing your travels and letting the world come along for the ride!
Always enjoy following your journeys. This is new for both you and Montana. I can tell you are sisters. Have a great trip.
So for the next few weeks I have something to follow again. Enjoy the hike.
I loved the "rescue scene" with that poor animal. Very nice of you❤️

I love this so much ... my first day on the Camino Frances was all rain and clouds, 😅 so I didn't see the beautiful views you're showing here! ♥️

Rain? There is no rain in Southern France or Spain - just liquide sunshine! 🤠
The western descent down the Pyrenees is a true rainhole where every cloud coming from the Atlantic ocean lightens itself :-)
YAY! On the trail again.
Have an amazing adventure together.
Yay! The Camino de Santiago vlogs have begun! Awesome first vlog!!! Teresa
