    interested in what they are, how good the wool is, what it is used for, how big they get, if they are raised or meat or wool, how they herd, good mothering ability, how many lambs they have on average, can they breed out of the normal fall season.... there is lots you can tell us about them and why you have them or wouldn't have them.

      Similar sort of ratio to the 8-hour shearing records of 644 crossbreeds vs 497 merinos. I've only done a few merinos, and they took me 2-3 times as long. We're spoiled by the easy things up here.

    • @TheSheepGame

    I have to ask about the footwear whiling shearing. Why moccasins?

    • @TheSheepGame
      @TheSheepGame  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Lisa. The moccasins have a few benefits. They don’t get slippy like hard rubber, they give u grip all the way round ur foot so if u turn ur foot on it’s side u still have a grip. They keep your ankle free so u can roll your foot easily. They are also a very thin sole so you are closer to the sheep and don’t have to stretch as much.

  • @sarahcontento9516
    @sarahcontento9516 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do you sheer sheep because of warm weather?

    • @TheSheepGame
      @TheSheepGame  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That would be one of the reasons but also due to what we call fly strike, where a fly will lay eggs in the fleece, once these hatch they will begin to eat away at the flesh of the sheep, which could at worst case cause death.
